  1. I could never eat anything that moved slower than I do. It looks about as appetizing as the guys foot in the pic above. But to each his own. I generally won't eat anything I wouldn't kiss on the lips. Lobster and Calamari isn't very appetizing either so there are exceptions to my rules.
  2. Relax G, it was a tongue in cheek statement based on the outrage resulting from a recent incident on the Detroit River.
  3. Are the pics of the clearance bin or your shopping cart? I actually was in CTC Dunnville yesterday and they were stocking the peg boards with hardware and dozens of reels for the locked showcases. I thought I was going to have a panic attack seeing all the goodies. I had to call my sponsor for SIDNA, Stuff I Don't need Anonymous. It has been such a long winter of looking out the patio door every morning hoping the ice went out on the lake that I was actually drooling over push button Zebcos. It's that bad. PS, Erie still has ice on it as far as the eye can see this AM. We will need a fiery meteorite to crash in it in order to have open water by spring. Some say " Man you are so lucky to have a lake view" Try looking at ice all day when it should be open water, torture, sheer torture.
  4. Another discussion where one fish is more valuable than another? I hear they are selling bumper stickers " Kill A Musky Save a Walleye"
  5. Canuck2fan, Thanks a lot! Now I am going to have to find a piece of land somewhere up north and squat and live off it. I was considering using a pre-paid credit card to use as well. The problem is I don't have much, who am I kidding, I don't have any disposable income to spend on stuff on the internet anyhow so it really is a moot point. I have enough stuff, actually I need to get rid of some of the crap I bought in my life. And now US Steel is saying we may be loosing up to 30% of the pensions we earned because of bankruptcy of US Steel Canada. If anyone needs any VHS tape re winders PM me.
  6. Thanks all, consensus is I need to plug the gap. I will call Hummingbird. Quiet? That's a first Dave, Ticha would say differently. Actually have been working on a pals big 30 footer in his nice warm shop and watching the ice on the lake.
  7. I have never had a problem buying on the internet. I have never bought a single thing off of the internet. I am a Dinosaur and don't care. I almost set up a Pay Pal account. I was told many years ago by a sharp computer science guy with his PHD, never enter any info on the internet you wouldn't put in a box in your front yard for anyone to see.
  8. It is a Hummingbird. I never thought it might be shooting water up through the gap. It will be a while before it sees water. Unless everything melts in a few days and I will be able to float it off the trailer in the driveway! Irish, what is black RTV?
  9. Costa I must be lucky, many years now on that boat of mine! 4 of those years in a Marina.
  10. Craig, there are many degrees of mental illness. I have a panic attack once every few years, it has been 7 years actually, and the Dr. prescribes a whatever "pam" to be used as required, I must check the " Have you ever been treated for a mental illness?" box on a health insurance questionnaire as yes. Nowhere is there an area on the questionnaire for an explanation. So am I as mentally ill as someone that can commit any crime and be acquitted because of mental incapacity at the time the crime was committed? I don't think so, so anyone with a mental illness can be a criminal.
  11. I have everything you would need to make a pair if you look at the image from Drifter. The upper back of a steel patio chair complete with 90 degree bend cut in 1/2. A few feet of 1.5 " PVC, duct tape and 2 caps. A good metal blade on a Sawzall, 4 "C" clamps and you are good to go. The tubing on the patio chairs I have slated for a spring yard sale is actually square tubing, perfect. Even round tubing will work with a few tweaks. 4 "C" clamps don't come anywhere near the $159.00 they want, nuts. I don't know where you are Raycaster but the chair is yours if you want.
  12. I whole heartedly agree that mental illness is an illness that may or may not be treatable. My uncle suffers from Alzheimer's, my 87 year old father does not understand it. He thinks his brother has a choice. I tried to explain he has a broken brain, his response is "it's all in his head!" Our health care professionals that are responsible for this mans release should, as some here have said, be tied to their decision for the lifetime of their patient. What we have here is a prime example of responsibility without accountability. The litmus test here should be if the physician is confident enough to release the patient he should be confident enough to have that patient as a house guest for a period of time. And his or her children or grand children will be staying in the same home for the duration. Then lets see what they decide to do with them. The utter degree of horror that went along with this murder has brought this case notoriety and international attention. These types of homicides occur regularly, dead is dead. Not with such horrible post-mortem acts but dead is dead. But they will garner a few columns on page 4, maybe. I will chip in a few extra tax bucks myself to keep him behind bars to ensure he takes his meds. Or the cost could be offset by releasing a few hundred marijuana offenders from our prison systems or deport a few non Canadians to their home land where they don't want then either. There is no cure, only treatment. At the least he should report daily to a clinic where they watch him take the meds to control his admitted insanity. Maybe that would be inconvenient for him. I don't know if it was here on OFC but I read a comment that says what I think well. " The liberals idea of being tough on crime is longer suspended sentences."
  13. Hahaaaaaa. That's a keeper. Seriously, barehands.
  14. Just a reminder, if you do paint the entire engine make sure you masking tape the intake ports, and the drain plug. You know your primers.
  15. Last fall I installed a new combo transducer on the transom of my StarCraft Superfisherman 190. There is a 5 foot rooster tail it is throwing up. No big deal until I mounted my kicker, now that rooster tail is hitting the kicker and throwing the water onto the casting platform and into the battery box. Found an inch of water in there. That's not good. Should I lower it or raise it. I mounted it exactly in the same spot as the old Garmin transducer, used the old holes as reference. What do you all think? I say lower it a 1/4 inch, a pal says raise it. It shows the exact depth my second and third sonars show. Not a big job, but I want to adjust it once. Thanks Johnny D
  16. I bought a $2.00 small cutting board at the Dollarama. It isn't 3/4 but it must be 5/8's. Glued to well cleaned aluminum transom with 3M. Never a problem after 6 years.
  17. I'm not a die hard winter wonderland fan any longer. Back in the day when I skied there was never enough snow. I don't know a smitty sled from the steel garbage can lids we used to fly down the Hamilton mountain on. Emergency room nurses knew us by name. What I do know is a class A shop when I see one. That shop is beyond nice DynamicBear ( Brian?). Who cares if most tools are your Dad's, they might be 99% his but possession is 9/10 of the law. When can I come over and watch you build my ladies new kitchen? That shop is the Bomb as they say , Norm Abram would be envious. Would a " V " shaped blade made of a light weight steel i.e. galv mounted at the front of the sled help plow deeper snow away to the sides. I worked on "cow catcher" and many other designs with both Engineers and experienced Hoggers and Switchmen for rail equipment to enable rail traffic to plow through deep snow to transport everything from Iron Ore to steel coils in the plant. Some worked some didn't. We didn't want to re invent the wheel but with the materials we have today some designs from 100 years ago work today because they simply did not have the materials we have now. One wouldn't believe snow could "lift" a rail car with hundreds of tons of Steel or Iron loaded on them but does. Whether it be snow or light weight Metallurgical Coke once that material fills the space from the rail to the underbelly of the engine or railcar it will lift off the rail easily. Thus the higher the "smitty sled" from the snows surface the better. Johnny D
  18. I was never blessed with children. After 3 miscarriages my former wife was told the next may end her own life. What I would give to have your problem Mike. Many years ago I was 10 as well and announced to my parents I would only be wearing black clothes for the rest of my life. Beatle hat, black shirt with a black dickie and black Beatle boots. I got a black Beatle belt beating from my father and the spoon on the back of my legs from my mother. I think my Noni got in a few good licks too. To this day my favorite clothing is black, from suits to t shirts. Let the girl form her own opinions, as long as no one is being hurt by them I really don't see the big deal here Mike. I have always said if you think you have it bad go to any Childrens Hospital and look at all those innocent children fighting for their lives and the sheer pain and anguish on the look on the young Moms and Dads. You have it made Mike. I only wish.
  19. 123chader, I see you are fairly new here. We are an all inclusive group at OFC. Opinions are not only welcome but encouraged, trolling isn't. That post you made was not very well thought out. We have all pushed the "post" button when we probably should not have. Man oh man, that comment was beyond delicate, it borders on racist. No need to respond to that post M2B2, none what so ever. I think I will go to the Pet Store in Cayuga tomorrow and buy a few goldfish, then I can make a fishing report. edit, actually you are not new here 06' start date. Just don't post much.
  20. For that to happen after all these years would tell me something out of ordinary has happened since winterized. I would expect to see that degree of peeling if it was a new paint job and the primer coat was not cleaned before the paint went on. You didn't repaint it so it must be something else. If it was a gas leak I would think you would have smelled it and it must be a large leak. In my non professional opinion there is an anode problem. Something I have never changed in the 6 years I have had the boat. On the to do list now. What is a bit confusing is that the shaft portion has not peeled. Someone here may be able to tell us if the shaft portion is made of the same steel as below the cowling. I would think it would be the same steel, maybe not. I would not use a wheel grinder as it will gouge into the metal even with the least abrasive. I redid my trailer a few years back and found if the wheel abrasive removed the paint it also gouged. I would hand scrape the flaking paint off. And then start sanding by hand starting with a 100 grit and work up to 200. Clean the surface and clean it again after every sanding. 2 coats of the best spray primer available. Light sand and clean in between coats, clean like surgery is going to happen. I would give her 3 coats of finish with automotive paint, sanding and cleaning between each coat. Then 2 coats of automotive clear coat. Since I was doing the area below the cover I might as well do the shaft too. I would talk to a few marine dealers before refinishing. I would want a definitive answer as to why this can happen after all these years, for sure. This is only my opinion. I am very interested to know what a marine or auto refinisher says about it.
  21. I delivered bread in the early 70's to restaurants in Hamilton for Roma. After seeing what I saw I would never set foot into some, as if I could afford it. When I could afford dining out it is not unusual for me to ask if I could peek into the kitchen. If they say of course I was good to order, if they say no, usually citing something about insurance I just leave. If it was a first date I would only go to a place I new the owners and staff. I have seen some very scary things in "clean" eateries. If the bathrooms were not spotless I guarantee you the kitchens reflected the same or worse conditions. The last restaurant my family took over had the skeletal remains of either huge rodents or small cats behind the equipment, ugly. Another quick way of determining a restaurants cleanliness is to take a look at their back door area where the garbage is kept. If the dumpster is overflowing and bags and boxes are strewn around on the ground I guarantee you rodents are not far away. Generally speaking chain restaurants are the cleanest because they must maintain franchise standards or loose their franchise which is very expensive.
  22. Drifter, good one, I resemble that. Here's one from grade 7. "My father wears Dago shoes. Where ever he goes day go."
  23. M2B2, well that makes at least one person that enjoy them. Now that this thread has taken a 180 degree turn from where it started I will encourage all that are interested in knowing bit of history on what has transpired in Caledonia up to a few years back. Thinks have been quiet as of late. This past summer the northern portion of the land that is now under the ownership of the province had some activity. The properties of the residents that back on to the DCE were using some of the land to grow veggie gardens. Individuals that have taken control of this provincially owned land started erecting fencing so the locals could not use this to grow food. The only other thing that has happened is the Cayuga bridge on Hwy 3 that crosses the Grand River was 99% finished. The Haudnesasne (sic) group has stopped work on the bridge demanding many hundreds of thousands of dollars, or is it millions, from the Gov. as they say this area was never settled in the land claims a few hundred years ago. Please try and read Christine Blanchfords book entitled " Helpless, Caledonia's Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy and How the Law Failed All of Us.". $9.99 from Amazon. I found it the least biased account of the goings on and most detailed account.
  24. lookinforwalleye, Cappacola, that is a long way from gobbledygool but you translated it somehow. That is a good belly laugh for sure. It is pork butt spiced rolled in black pepper salt and if hot gobbledygool pepperoncino flakes and cured. Cappa as in head or end in Latin or Italian, also Cappo as in top dog. Cappo di tutti Cappi. boss of bosses. The heel or end of a loaf of bread is the coppalla. Regardless I have never liked gobbledygool or Gabbagool as the Americans call it.
  25. There was a significant increase in weight training in the early 70's. There were very few gyms and even less individuals who knew what they were talking about. A strength coach for any sport had not yet been invented. If you looked at a common work out from the 70's you would cringe. You learned how to lift by reading Joe Weiders articles in magazines low reps with massive loads. Now that I'm 60 my joints are bone on bone, there are hairline stress fractures in almost every large joint. Was it from lifting heavy? Maybe. Lifting wrong, most likely. It wasn't only the 70's that we did things wrong. In the 90's 2 of the worlds best golfers swore by weight training, no one in golf had ever trained their bodies with heavy weights. One was David Duval the second is Tiger Woods, neither are playing today on tour. Neither are 40 yet.
