Any of you guys use cookie dipsy"s
Old Ironmaker replied to davey buoy's topic in General Discussion
Exactly what Thrilla said above. Great for shallower fish this time of year. Snap weights as well. I wish I could remember where both of mine are. -
You might get into some perch. If you are really lucky a Walleye or 2 might be the catch of the day on the lake. Troll a black and silver Rappala around Gull Island or bounce bottom with a jig and live minnow. Any Pickerel caught off the pier in the channel are out of season. The lake side is open all year. Check the regs for yourself to be 100% certain. Use live bait on the pier with a Pickeral rig, but change the hooks to a #3, the hooks the rigs come with go into a recycle bin because they are garbage in my opinion. Fishmasters may have minnows now as well as Mohawk Marina east of Rock Point. I thought you were going to Bing? Anyhoo good luck to you.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the definition of " ethical " food? I'm thinking the way the food was harvested maybe. To me dead is dead, but please enlighten me. Thanks.

I've had Garmin, Lowrance and Humminbird. My latest was a Humminbird because it was on sale. I never use the side scan feature as I'm primarily targeting suspended fish anyway. I have all 3 onboard and no complaints.

Talk about bushwhacking. How do you spell fanatic. Fantastic read, thanks. I gave up on bushwhacking for trout years ago, I used to call Varney the Mei Kong delta because of the some of the jungle we trekked through to nab those brookies. That was 1 knee and 1 hip ago.

[DEAL] Plano Boxes model 3750 $3 at Dollarama
Old Ironmaker replied to adempsey's topic in General Discussion
I have a close friend that wholesales product from China to Dollar and Giant Tiger stores. Sometimes he pays less than pennies on the dollar before it hits the shelf. It isn't easy other wise everyone would be doing it. They loose shipping containers full of product regularly. He had one container show up 5 years after he paid for it. He is in Halifax and Vancouver continually looking for his containers. I flew with him to Vancouver once to look for containers, I thought it might be a free vacation, I don't think so. Not for me that's for sure. Writing a cheque for 100K makes me nervous especially knowing much of it gets lost or stolen. Then occasionally he has to pay off the head Stevedore and craneman to dig the container out that might take a few dozen lifts to get it onto a truck or railcar. Then it's time to payoff the yardmaster to get it onto or off of a railcar. I'd have an ulcer in no time. It's mind boggling the amount of product that comes into the country everyday by ship from overseas. -
I bow to you dear Sir. It can be humbling reading your wonderful posts, and thank you for sharing what they were hitting on.

Fantastic, keep up the great work.

I have a mooring cover that was made for the boat and is 20 years old. It looks to be Sunbrella material. I shrink warp it every winter. I was looking at getting a travel cover from the folks in Dunnville that Fish Farmer gave the contact number. It will be around $700.00 made of Sunbrella. I wouldn't need to shrink wrap it every winter. I think I'm going that route as shrink wrapping is around $225.00 now. It will pay for itself in a few years. It's all about budget, if affordable get a proper travel cover that seals 100%. I have not heard great things about the covers sold at Marinas and Canadian Tire.

How did you first musky experience go down?
Old Ironmaker replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
In 1983 trolling a Black Fury with 8 lb. mono, no leader on Scugog for Walleye. 5 minutes in I caught a Tiger Musky, it was the first Musky I ever saw. It was 38". I caught my next one 31 years later. -
Absolutely disgusting as well as extremely dangerous to boaters. One would have to be nuts to boat in that water after ice out.

Just turn on any TV at 4PM when the kids get out of school, anytime actually and you can see much that would have been censored a few years ago. Talk about subliminal messages and sexual innuendo watch any sit com out there at anytime of day. Just having fun that really didn't go that far or out of hand, just my opinion Speil. If one wants to see obscene turn on CNN and watch racism, war and carnage live and in HD. But point taken, rules are there to keep it civil.

Karma... it is a three way street correct?
Old Ironmaker replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Back when I was younger we used to talk about this guy or that guy as being a tough guy because they could street fight. There are 2 types of real tough guys, the one that gets up at 04:30 and goes into a job they absolutely despises for 30 years but does it and doesn't complain because he or she has a family to support. The second kind of tough guy is your daughter Jen, bar none. Prayers sent via Godmail. -

Old Ironmaker replied to adempsey's topic in General Discussion
Thanks. I hope there is a Dollarama in Hamilton still. -
My weakness fishing is impatience when a game plan doesn't work. I'll pack in the pattern too early. I will even make a list of what hardware I will try second, third etc. But I then second guess myself and go in a different direction. So patience or lack of it is my downfall and not sticking with a pattern. Then of course shinny boobies.

Joeytier, to get ready for Grand River monsters throw a rope over the house, tie a refrigerator to it, and try and pull the fridge over the top of the house. 30 pounders are not a common catch but they are there. There are pics at Fishmasters Marina to prove it. I think Pete Bowman got into one a few years back not far from the marina.

Unfortunately that has been my experience as well on most everything these days. They don't want us to repair much of anything. My remote foot pedal for my Motor Guide needed to be replaced, nope I needed to buy a complete unit, the remote control foot pedals are no longer available. I can't remember which brand it was but a pal had the same exact experience as you, he needed a part for his expensive power washer wand and had to buy the complete wand. Sorry I can't help.

You can call a Ford pickup truck anything cool gnarly sounding you want it's still a Ford pickup. Actually it has an appropriate name, a Raptor is after all a dinosaur.
