Great report. It has me missing the place the family used to have in Charlotte Harbor. I went down for long weekends when I was working 12 hour shifts. We have great fishing right here but the unique thing about FLA whether fishing salt water or brackish water is you never know what you are going to hook into. From Sea Trout to Shark. I would use lighter tackle compared to the locals using 2X2's and chainfalls and always hooked up 3 times more than they did, and I lost a lot of tackle even using 100 pound flouro leaders.

I never gave a spare away. I followed the persons to the closest garage where they removed it and gave it back. Once for the trailer once for a car. Get a spare trailer tire that matches your trailer tires. If I didn't have a spare I wouldn't leave home because I 100% guarantee I'll get a flat. Stop into any tire dealer, they will tell you what you have on the trailer and what size you need. The number of guys I know that have car tires on their trailers is nuts. I have been flagged over more than once from guys asking if they can borrow my spare to get to the next town. How do you say no? Next time I'll ask if it's you.

Buy a Cappuccino machine and pour it in your Tea instead of Espresso.

The black flies and skeeters on the north side of our place will pick you up and carry you a few feet, 250 feet away on the lake side I have never seen a mosquito in the 20 years we have been here. I had guests once that complained about the mosquitos at the tennis court. I mean were p'd off complained like it was my fault, I told to go to town and rent a room. Funny, I've never seen them since. When I am in skeeter territory I find something with a good amount of Deet is the only thing that works. I know they put much less Deet in Muskol than 30 years ago. I get the good stuff from a kid in the Military. I wouldn't use too much for a prolonged period of time, it is nasty stuff. No children should use large amounts of Deet if any.

Callatis, The Dri Core we used to use came with packages of extra dimples you applied below the panels to level the floor. There are many good questions here about the proper methods to insulate, build and create a thermal break properly for below grade living spaces. There was a good thread a few months ago started by Wormdunker who was and I think still is redoing his basement. Google it here. For a scientific explanation for the proper insulation of basements in our climate zone google, Buildingscience.com and search for insulating basements. If the answer for the proper method to insulate our basements isn't on Building Science it doesn't exist, right Wormdunker? By the way did you ever finish that room? There are 2 words to remember and learn what it means " Thermal break" if you create at 100% thermal break you win. There are 3 states of moisture, solid, liquid and gas. All 3 will eventually rot wood and create Black Mold if not controlled and as well create other molds which some of which are harmful and some not. The goal is to not allow the moisture to penetrate the building envelope and there must be a method to remove the moisture that did. Not all moisture leaks through the walls and floors into the basement. Sometimes it comes in from making a cup of Tea or a pot of Pasta. It ain't Rocket Science but it is science. A bit more to it than installing a vapor barrier to create a thermal break, a vapour barrier does not create a thermal break on it's own. If it did all we would have to do is wrap the building in Super 6 and be done with it. . Do it right or don't do it at all because changing the mechanical structure of a building envelope improperly may cause many $$$$$$$$$$ in damage.

Do you mean "Ditra" Garret? We have done many basements in DriCore since 2000. I like it because a leak won't ruin the floor as water will drain between the dimples and it's simple to lay. And by shimming it you get a perfectly flat floor.

Through experience I must strongly disagree with that Manager Hirk. I have a fishing pal that has a earlier (1992) 90 HP Merc Mariner and has had it since new. He has had zero major problemas with her, nada, niema, nienti, nothing. Now watch the jinx kick in.

I tried Musky years ago before they were considered as holy as a Hindu cow. It was not a big one, maybe mid 30's and it tasted like Bass minus the "B". That is a big fish, looks more like road kill than a fresh Musky. Maybe it was in that parking lot when it got hit.

Finally got the " Bassassin" in the water after doing a slew of PM and a new steering cable on it for the last 2 weeks. We tried for the elusive Grand River Eyes below the Dunnville Dam to Pt. Maitland. After trolling a selection of hardware, bottom bouncing Lindy Rigs and drift jigging plastic for a few hours we were rewarded with a 12" young Pic. Trolled a few different body baits out onto the lake and found some fish on the Humminbird but no takers. They may have been a scattering of Perch or some very tired post spawn female Smallies. Not many folks were out either the river or the lake but it will be a Zoo this morning I would guess. I'll tell you all something, what a beautiful and fantastic afternoon and early evening it was. Everything on the boat worked, I can steer with one finger almost with the new rack and pinion set up and I got some colour on my pasty olive hue skin. Some fish may have been nice but fish or no fish we are blessed just to be able to get out on the water. Some of my fishing buddies can't even get in and out of a boat any longer. Some because the bodies are done for and a few because they passed over the winter and they are no longer are with us. So I count my blessings.

I answered you Albert on the other site. I want to add I also have a 95' 115HP Mercury Mariner on my StarCraft. I don't want to put the kybosh on it but that engine is running mint. I'm not sure how far north of 100HP is but the next engine of that era is 115, which when that prop is matched perfectly is plenty of get up and go. I never run that engine "north" of 4000 RPM, top speed with my heavier 19' is just south of 40 MPH. I don't want to snag a full fishing net that you will not see the top of the floats until it is too late at 30 let alone 40, that would hurt I bet. Other than routine maintenance, which I have been told I overdo, the only issue in 20 years was a Stator replacement that we did, and the alarm that indicates one of the 2 engine alarms was faulty, 80 bucks or so. And it definitely is a Yamaha built exclusively for Merc. I was told the engine block and drive shaft is all Yamaha, Electronics and fuel systems are all Mercury as well as the outdrive. I can get parts at every Merc and some non Merc. dealers our way. I have never had to order a part that wasn't in stock. What else? Mine is oil injected which is great, no more measuring twice and mixing once I'm sure that Mariner is also. The 115 has been used to troll with for almost 20 years until I was lucky enough to match the 115 Mariner with the exact same year 15 horse kicker. My wife said look the big motor had a baby. That 115 can troll down to 1.9 MPH, no problem. If you are going to come out here longlining you have to pick your days like I do in the 19' StarCraft and always play it on the safe side just like everyone here has to including Ted in his 21', little Johnny in his 23' and Louis in his 28' 4 Winns. With te side council you probably have almost as much of a dance floor as my 19 because I have the full windscreen. Buy it and take me out for a fish. You drive I'll give you the GPS coordinates!

Would there be an invasion of privacy issue if flown over and videoing sunbathers or similar in the privacy of their own homes? I foresee issues arising but a cool way to drop 1/2 a dime. The inventor of GoPro was a panelist on The Shark Tank and was saying he almost sold out to Kodak for basically pennies on the dollar. He's very glad he didn't. Interesting young man.
