  1. Get your tongue out of your cheek Musky.
  2. Typical response from a young hip hoppster. Deface property with graffiti and smash something up. I don't know about the Pepsi Cola generation. M2B2 yes I'm talking about you. PM me the dates you are supposed to come down to civilization. Like I said we might be able to have a OFC get together.
  3. 10 point. You won't find many "party" boats here in Ontario. There is one that I know of that runs out of Port Dover of which the name eludes me. You have to understand this is Ontario, our government thinks we are too irresponsible to party. There are plenty of charters out of Ports, Burwell, Bruce and Stanley. I don't know anything about places west of Stanley.
  4. The answer looks like anyone that puts up a sign can designate a sanctuary. I don't know how rural it is or if you are local but if you drop into the local Barber shop or pub you will probably get an answer. For the definitive answer I would contact the Ministry for sure.
  5. I tried to run a 6 year old deep cycle with a new one, does not work. I was told the same thing about battery age differential as liverealease mentioned. When Irishfeild speaks I listen. I think it's important to have worthy batteries a few thousand feet above the ground, even a few hundred feet for that matter.
  6. The Provincial Liberals will be in power until The GTA is sold to the USA. The 51st State and it comes with a NHL team! OOps deal breaker.
  7. I played team sports from the age of 5 until I was in my mid 30's. This is as close as a tight team is when you are winning. I sure have enjoyed it and met some fantastic folks here. There are not many trollers here, I think that's what you call sh&^ disturbers or people that act like spoiled brats. Civil discussions that can get heated but that's what people do when passionate about something. I was told this is either one of or has the largest membership of any fishing forums that exist. The mods do a fantastic stellar job and they don't get much credit. A great forum is one where you don't even know there is a moderator there. Unlike some cluster jams where all the mods do is interrupt and Lock, lock, lock. Thanks to TJ and his crew.
  8. If a CO asks where your licence is just drool all over him and have you friend explain you are disabled and require a second person to aid you in the angling for sports fish. Yes, yes I know politically incorrect but it has been done before by a couple of knuckle heads I knew.
  9. All very touching stories. I am fortunate enough to still have both Mom and Dad at my age. 84 and 88. I am the only one within our group of friends my age blessed with not only 1 but both parents still alive. Dad is still as sharp as a tack. He has his memory issues now but Hell he's going on 89 and has always said he will live to 100, I don't doubt it. Dad was born in Hamilton on the kitchen table on Birmingham Street in the shadows of the Blast Furnaces in 1927. When he was 2 or 3 years old my Noni packed up her 4 kids and left Canada to return to Abruzzi Italia. Pops returned to Canada at the age of 20 and although a born Canadian could not speak a word of The Kings English. My Grand Father whom I met 2 or 3 times did some serious time in prison here in Canada leaving my non English speaking Noni to fend for herself with 4 small children. Nono fought in WW1 with the Brits and caught shrapnel to the head and had a plate put in where his scull used to be. The result was a life of crime in Hamilton. My father never had a Dad. He never was interested in the outdoors. Years latter my Father my 2 brothers and I went together to Italy to meet my Grandmother and my Dad's sister and her husband, Zia Rosina and Zio Giulio. In my broken Italian I learned that my father swore that if he ever got through the war as a young teen he would never go into the Mountains and woods again. As the Germans retreated up the Adriatic coast they would basically take any man or boy strong enough to hold a weapon into their ranks at gunpoint. My father with his 12 year old brother and their young friends would have to take to the snow capped Gran Saso mountain range and hide for days and weeks to avoid conscription by the Nazis. Begging for food and shelter from villagers and farmers throughout their ordeal. Sleeping in barns when lucky enough to find a farmer that would risk the lives of his family and himself to give these children a safe somewhat warm place to rest before they trekked higher into this massive mountain range in 2 feet of snow. Some of the kids made it back home, most of these children didn't, they froze to death or starved. Many were turned into the Nazis by other Italians to save themselves. Those that did collaborate with the Nazis went missing shortly after VE day. Those that gave shelter were hailed as heroes after the war. So when I was a kid and hated him for not taking us fishing and camping like my American cousins and the kids at school did every summer I am ashamed to this day when ever I think about it. When I first took up fishing at the age of 30 I took my father on trips with us. He never really enjoyed it. When I went to visit Italy for the first time and learned about how a child eluded the Nazis I now know why my brothers and I never went fishing and hopefully he can forgive me. We have never talked about it and most likely never will. When I was kid I was impressed by tough guys in the neighborhood because they could fight well. Want to meet a real tough guy Visit my father who I am proud to say I am his son. Johnny D
  10. I would suggest no one finance a toy. My first boat was a 12 foot Sears cartop and a old 9.9. The second time on that boat I started looking for a 14 footer, then a 16 etc. 2 footitis is a common virus that is contagious amonst boaters. A 14 foot tinny is the way to go for a first time boat. Depending on your responsibilities the financing option may or may not be the way to go. If you have the responsibilities that come with life, like a family to feed forget about financing a toy. If single add 2 feet to your boat shopping every week and get yourself as large a boat you want. After you have bought a home of course.
  11. M2B2, get me the dates again you will be in town. We can start a thread and set up a OFC GTG in Hamilton. Maybe a mini golf tourney. You can't swing a cat with out hitting some very nice courses in the Niagara peninsula. Kings Forest Golf Course right in the Hammer was once ranked as one of the top 5 Muni courses in Canada. It is down the street from where I grew up. It has been used as one of the courses for qualification for the Canadian Open. The Walleye should be in on Erie in August as well. Nothing like Rainy River pics. I throw the small ones back, they are only 7 pounders. Actually I will take a 5 pounder over a 12 for eaters. But I have never turned my nose up on any Walleye from Erie. The 10 pounders are only a few years old if I recall correctly. Can't wait to take your money fishing or golfing. I get a stroke for every year I'm older than you and am never too proud to hit from the ladies T's!!!!! Fins and Skins North vs. South, I love it. Can't wait. Johnny D
  12. There's a pile of Gnocchi waiting for you at a real deal Italian restaurant in downtown Hamilton. Check the Ti Cat schedule there might be a game when you are here I might be able to get a few favours paid back and score some tickets.
  13. We yanked out an old steam turbine that hoisted raw materials to the top of "A" Blast Furnace that was torn down in the 70's and donated it to the Steam Museum in Hamilton. The boiler work looks similar. That furnace was built in the 1890's.
  14. Another mouth to feed young fella. What's that make now about 12 then when Mom gets into town 13? Good on you, and that Pup is a beauty. Hurry up and get down here, you need a break.
  15. Long Point will be and is always a Zoo for opening. I would pick another weekend if it were I. I have seen line ups at ramps 15 deep for opening there.
  16. When my wife's employment ownership was changed she talked to Ed Canning via phone at no charge. I highly recommend him. She was premature in her anxieties as nothing happened to her position.
  17. I need a spelling lesson.
  18. Agguri Nono.
  19. We have been there and it can be scary especially when in the shipping lanes here on Erie. It happened last year and thankfully the GPS route showed us the way back because I never took a heading when we left port. I know land was North but much of the shoreline North is rocky and Iron soil cliff face straight down into the water.
  20. Is pot harmful or addictive? What I do know is that I've been around and experienced the swingin 60's in High School. Several potheads from then are alive today and don't know what year it is. I have a cousin in the States that chain smokes the Stupid Stick for the last 45 years. He couldn't hold down a job for more than a month and has been on Welfare for the past 25 years. A few out here on the lake are exactly the same, all on disability and their life is growing and smoking then repeat. I can say only one has a violent nature, and that's when he doesn't have any. I don't have any documentation to copy and paste only my observations from seeing it for the past 45 years or so. Like anything in excess is not good, but in my experience to say it is not addictive or not harmful to at least some is Bull.
  21. Looks like I'll bring my Bassassin gear and throw 2 lead core in the truck and the 70 spoons I bought at the Hamilton Swap Meet for about $1.20 each. I'm not bringing my StarCraft 190, I will be first mate this time and relax a bit. Thanks all, and for the PM's as well.
  22. Pics, I imagine it would all depend on what type of work one is performing. If an individual is deemed to be suitable to obtain medical maryjo I would think that they wouldn't be able to work. I sure don't want someone driving a 300 ton crane carrying a ladle of steel over my head that has taken a few Tylenol 3's. Under the Occupation Health and Safety Act for Mines and Mining Plants in Ontario any and all prescription drugs taken by an employee must be reported to the company employing the worker. We didn't follow this guideline at all and I wish we did because I had a few space cadets on the casthouse floor.
  23. As I said above we have been invited to Brule Lake the beginning of August. I'm told it's deep and has Lake Trout and that's about it. Any general tips for us. PM me if you wish. Thanks all John D
  24. I recently looked at the regs for a boarding ladder. It is measured from the waters surface to the top of the gunnel. The question is exactly where. I think it was the rear forward of the transom. I have a boarding ladder and it isn't the easiest thing to climb. I wear a hydrostatic inflatable.
  25. If I send a pic of a mount I don't see anything positive coming of it.
