Trying to keep up with the new technology. NF
Old Ironmaker replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
What a beautiful nice clean shop you have there Brian. That jargon is beyond me that's for sure. Before I left the plant by the time we did a 100 million dollar reline the systems we procured 2 years before i.e. Gen 1 the Gen 3 was available from Robotic digital automated tools to Intelligent computer technology. Yes it can be a bit overwhelming for the Old Guns. -
Anybody have an online source for outboard motor parts? NF
Old Ironmaker replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
For a rectifier would a local dealer not suffice? I don't order on line for parts, are they that less expensive than buying Canadian? Down here I find dealers have great, well good, prices on some parts and expensive for something else at the same place and vice versa. They matched the price of my steering cable here for the price on line from the States. It was in stock too. I like picking them up locally as I don't want the boat sitting while it's fishing season waiting for a part. We ordered a crate engine and they said 4 to 6 weeks, that was in June, finally came last Friday. Great price though. PS I think your thread is very fishing related Chris unless you fish from a dock and use the boat for something else, no? -
Why does this site hate Internet Explorer???

I will try to download Chrome if I don't like the thingy I will go to FireFox. The IT lady is coming for a BBQ next weekend, I'll get her to do it for me. -
NFL, CFL, anything Football thread

You can't cheat in Golf. Most other pro sports like Football it's called strategic advantage. Ball tampering, loaded bats, hot footballs to kick, sticky gloves to catch the ball, heck QB's now wear sticky gloves. a QB wearing a glove on his throwing hand! Watch the rules committee work on that one next year. Odel Beckam Jr. doesn't make the miracle catch last year without gloves on. -
Let them think it is one giant Love Canal Blaque, more room for us. I was in Akron last month, down in your neck of the woods.

There was a recent article in the Simcoe Informer ID ing all sorts of toxic plants common to Southern Ontario that look just like what I always called Queen Anne's lace and other harmless looking plants. Come to find out our Queen Anne's lace isn't and it is toxic. After reading that article I won't be looking in the woods for my wayward golf balls anytime soon. Not that I don't hit straight mind you.

Contractors today have wrongly been lumped in with the old " used car salesman" warning because of these scammer slime bags. I know some great used car salesmen too that don't deserve the stigma as well. Is it contrary to policy here to name names? I wouldn't have a problem naming names Saltydog. The truth is the truth, bury the goof, not in a hole.

Coke.....................It's the real thing. Appluma is bang on. The name comes directly from the word Cocaine.

Big news from Buffalo this week Brian if you haven't heard. Freddy Jackson cut. Tyrod Taylor has been named starting QB for game 1 against the Colts. Either Matt Cassel or former 1st round pick EJ Manual to be back up. I say they cut Cassel to save 5 mil against the cap and <annual backs him up. Phil Simms son goes to the practice squad. If Taylor doesn't produce Manual is ready to go, again. This will be Manuals last chance as a starter if he gets a chance unless someone else wants him now, like the Argos. -
Fugi seems to be popular. My 8 year old Fugi Pix S1500 is as solid as a rock. It has hit the turf a few times. As good as any SLR I've owned, Practica to,Nikon and a few in between. Use either point and shoot or full manual with F stops, exposure times etc. Great value.

It's almost the 1/2 way point in the CFL season and only 1 more exhibition game left in the NFL. We have a NHL and Major League Baseball thread so why not a Football thread? There has to be more than a few fans of the game here. I would also say it would be anything Football, minor, highschool, Junior, Sr. Semi Pro as well as College ball. Heck touch leagues which isn't really football, kinda like ball hockey to ice hockey. Who do you like, who don't you like? Who do you hate? Anything Football related. Type away. I was born into a Buffalo Bills and Tiger Cat family. Dad is from Hamilton and had 2 cousins on the old Hamilton Tigers and Hamilton Cats and both still played when those teams merged to become the Tiger Cats. An Uncle I had that played at The University of Kentucky played on the Bills before the NFL merger and married my Mothers sister from North Tonawanda NY. So I either cheered for those teams watching on a round 12" B&W television or I didn't get supper. My first Bills game was around 67', whenever OJ's rookie year was, and the early 60's to a TiCat game Dad took me to for my birthday. Bring it on, Johnny D

Thanks for that John. Makes my day better. I will start that thread both NFL and CFL, heck everything Football.

There isn't enough time to tell all the stories of the scammers I have come across in this type of business. The construction business in this Province is too lax. A guy wants money all he has to do is throw a skill Saw in the back of a truck, stick a pencil behind his ear and stick a Blue Tooth behind the other ear and he's a "contractor" in Ontario. One the worse was a guy that couldn't read a tape or calculate square footage and I walk into Homeless Despot and he's giving a seminar one Saturday AM. I wish you the best of luck with this slime bag. A rock can't bleed.

Why does this site hate Internet Explorer???

OK so I am willing to join the 21st century. Now what do I choose amongst all those recommended. I tried downloading Chrome months ago and I couldn't do it properly for some reason and was told by an I.T. expert that owns her own tech support operation that administrates more than a few Gov. agencies not to use it. She told me why but don't recall right now. So what do I use? -
No Mom or Dad should ever have to go what you two did. There has to be a better day and place somewhere down the line. Just because 2 people don't agree with one another or on their points of view has nothing to do with respect.

So that's how you dock a boat! Actually those lake freighters we used to dock at the plant are amazing when they dock. They can put those Iron Islands on a dime.

Life can be a pain, can't use the B word here. Visit your local Children's hospital and then post back. I'm having a great day when I get vertical in the AM, and many others here. If you have your health you have it all. It's good to vent though. Vent away.

One thousand fish and one thousand posts. Those are some hogs you have there sir, Thanks for helping my inferiority complex to kick in full bore. Nice guy.

Why does this site hate Internet Explorer???
Old Ironmaker replied to akaShag's topic in General Discussion
I use Explorer. Other than not being able to use the quote feature I don't have any issues. I used to get the same " Explorer stopped working" thing as you but it was my PC. New PC, no problems. And I'm not getting Google Chrome either just so I can use the quote thingy. Is that a computer term "thingy"? -
Cliff, Cliff, Cliff. They want your money. These people come up with ways everyday to relieve you of your hard earned cash. Never push 1, hang up. Once you push 1 they know they have you on the hook and won't leave you alone. If I ever get an automated call I hang up, I'm not important enough to have a human being call me personally? If I answer the phone and have to say Hello twice, I habg up, you should too but I know you wouldn't even want to be rude to a computer. I once won a trip to Florida that I never entered and made the mistake of pushing 1. They harassed and threatened me for weeks. I had to call the police before it finally stopped. I entered a contest for a free draw at the Simcoe fair for a car. Never again, it was a scam.

Also in the FAC's they say how tall each one is. They state this one is about 14.5"s high and that one is about 15' high. I don't think I will be buying a building where they say it's "about" this high. Shipping is charged from Texas not the dealer. With the exchange rate and shipping plus duties I don't think it might be a deal at all. Did anyone get a price? I don't think it's anything you can't build here. Interesting though.

Love the photos. My favorite is the first. I have done that hike on the Lewiston side. A few knees ago. It was brutal and I was in top shape then. Good on you.

Wowa wewa! That has more storage than my 1/2 ton. I had the misfortune to pop into By City Marine in Hamilton today for some oil. Man nothing like a fishing machine with a "new boat" smell. I should have gone to law school or bought Micro Soft in the 70's.

Albert ask Richard M. to show you how he ties the rubber bands on to use as a release next time you are there.
