replacing water tank - orangeville area [nf]

No you will require an independent vent line if you do not have a common chimney. The most common vent is out a chimney, then you have direct vent that vents out the wall to the outside, then there is a power vent that has a fan on it and blows the waste gas (carbon monoxide) to the exterior of the home. Power vent is the safest in my opinion because a few more things must happen on a power vent to happen before the control valve for the gas supply opens, fan on and a minimum flow, this ensures no CO enters the home, simple really. But it is not a big deal to vent it to the outside. NG vs. electrical even with the installation is still less, very much less expensive when it comes to pay the utility bills. We have NG stove and HW heater. In the summer the bill is around $25.00 a month. You seem to be shying away from NG for some reason, why Raf? -

Is kokum Mom Rick? They both look gorgeous. It must be like an Italian Roman Catholic having their First Holy Communion. It used to be big deal in our family. Now no one knows what religion the kids are, if any. I remember my niece saying when they were little "we aren't part Italian Mom, we don't have a kitchen in our basement". You must be sad you missed it Rick, you will have another chance soon. What's with the foot? -
Net, a no brainer. If you get the foldable net make sure the tennis bag isn't black.

No joist hangers at the tie ins? Just asking, maybe not required, I really don't know. We have always had then engineered and built off site.

They pay almost nothing to film a reality show. Maybe, just maybe $500 bucks an episode to start. That might be 3 or more weeks filming. Plus you have to take a bath once and a while. For a hit show like Wicked Tuna they pay a grand a show per boat according to the internet. The Food network did a show at my wifes pals restaurant in town, a week shut down and they were paid peanuts. It's all in the free marketing, that's if it comes out well, if not?

replacing water tank - orangeville area [nf]

I have a power vent NG hot water heater for 15 years now. Yes the next time I need any work done it must be changed from ABS to white PVC, no big deal at all. Rather than vent horizontally I'm told it has to up and out vertically. ABS has been found to crack at the glue joints after years of constant heat. I have a carbon monoxide detector next to the tank and soap it for leaks occasionally. If replacing I am going to an on demand tank unless I can rent the next tank. Spider webs and wasp nests in the vent line has been a problem. I just remove the line and clean it out like I did a few weeks ago. I did have to change a bad control valve 5 years ago with nice $400.00 bill from the HVAC company here. That hurt. Gas vs. elec is a no brainer at all. edit, the only reason I would go to on demand is the space savings, we are in a small cottage and the tank is in the loft now. I will save much space as I can bring it downstairs and put it on the wall in the smallish laundry room. Worth the initial cost to us. Happy wife and thus happy fishing and golf. -
If I were you Dave I would light a match to that thing and start over and do it right. Or win the Lotto Max, finish it and donate that mess to all OFC members. Yea, I like that plan. By the way when is the first OFC G2G up there in God's country? I think I can rough it in that "Cabin" for a few months. I really wish I had known about this DIY project before. My sis-in-laws closest friend is a Sr. Producer with Shaw Media. I was telling sis about this and she peeked into your thread. She said they would have jumped on this for a new reality show that is actually quite un real.

Every time I go and enter a fish for our team someone else, usually you 2 guys, has beat me to it with a bigger fish. How can Team 5 possibly lose with you 2 on the team? Hooorahhh.

When I see a screen like that is when I reach in my bag of tricks for a fresh C.I.L. wobbler. Or I will pop the line off the downriggers and let the bait flutter around, sink , float whatever. Just do something different because whatever I was doing those hooks weren't interested. Sometimes pull the lines and add a worm to the centre treble or the hook on a spoon. Sometimes it works sometimes nothing does short of an exploding CIL wobbler. I feel your pain Bri.

Sonar Question- Down Imaging and Side Scanning

It's a tool and like every tool it all depends on what you need to do with that tool. I don't need SI or DI deep water longlining for suspended fish on Erie. Maybe I do as I have never fished with one. I have a simple HB 600 series Combo HD and colour and it works just fine targeting Fresh Water Drum. 600 bucks including the chip taxes in 3 years ago. The GPS is as important as the detail in the water column here to re track through my weigh points and know exactly where I am in a water desert with zero landmarks and fog. If it was in the budget I would love the largest screen I could get. Just the other day I said to y buddy according to this there is bait right under the boat on the surface. Sure enough looked over the side and the water is packed with smelts. It took a bit of discipline not to scoop up a meal with my net. Good luck on your purchase, get the biggest screen that fits your budget and the tool for the job. Like most electronics it seems prices go down every year. BTW the guys at Burlington Sail sure sound like they know their stuff. One spent a 1/2 hour with me trying to explain the SI and how to read it. He knew I was not a buyer just interested but treated me with the same enthusiasm as someone with a few grand in their jeans. That goes a long way in my book. -
I might think about paying someone that works on these things as an independent inspector. A seal might look like it might be good for 90 days and it would pass their inspection but it might not be good for much longer than that. I would ask for a heck more warranty than 90 days Cliff, at least 6 months.

7 years ago I called *16 and got a tow by the Canadian Coast Guard a few miles to the fuel station at the Marina in Port Dover. There was no charge. Is there a charge for a second tow if needed? I can't see them towing every idiot that runs out of fuel more than once.

I concur a 20 horse is overkill. A 9.9 is plenty for a 20 foot aluminum. I nabbed a 15 in January 2014 that matched my main by year and make, same graphic and elec. start and throttle/shifter for a steal of a price. The very first time I used it last year the battery died on my boat but there was just enough to crank the 15. It brought us back to the dock from 10 miles out in Erie from the Long Point Elbow to Nanticoke Creek if anyone is familiar. I use it to troll now exclusively and watch my amp meter on the combo closely. I will not leave the slip without it now, or my booster pack. I figure it saves me around 20, 25 bucks in fuel and oil in a day trolling. I used the big motor to troll for 6 years but would have to pull all the lines and give it a run every 45 minutes to cool the 115 and decarbonize it. That was a pain, a good pain because fishing isn't painful really, no complaints here. I have been out trolling for around 100 hours this year and last and have used maybe 10 litres or so of gas including that 10 mile creep along last year. A kicker is a no brainer on big water. A side note, we do complain about fishing, no fish, bad weather, snags, cost, all sorts of complaints. But there are worse things, many worse things in life, we have to keep it real, right?

You two caught more "fish of a thousand casts" in one trip than most in a lifetime. Your fingers must be worn to the bone with 15,000 casts or so. 2 thumbs up. This site needs a "AWESOME" button.

I was looking for the OFAH forum of which I had been a member of many years back (Bassassin). This site came up on Google at the top of the page. And you have all been subject to my bantering ever since. Blame OFAH.

My mobile phone has holes in the dial that you put your fingers in the numbers. It is mobile because it has a long cord on it and I can take it into the next room. You think I'm kidding?

^ no "LIKE" option here so 2 thumbs up. It's good to have a thread on what's required by law once and a while. I know I sure need a reminder, like changing the batteries in my cheap water tight flashlights. 3 in the boat and not a one working today on the water.

No you won't have any trouble. Pull the permit, do the work and have it inspected. Many individuals doing inside work don't bother with permits right or wrong. Changing a doorway or installing a sink requires a permit but more don't pull one than do. I believe in pulling permits for most residential work. More and more homeowners are having issues selling properties because they did not pull permits and their current properties do not match the general description of their property when purchased. Like my neighbour that installed a pool and built a garage without permits. Now he has problems selling. Installing a sink, I never have pulled one.

I just love seeing low flying military aircraft fly by. Being on the Lakeshore of Erie the shoreline provides natural highway for aircraft. The Snowbirds flew over so close a few years back I swear I could touch them. The Canadian Warplane Heritage museum is 40 minutes or so by car from us. We see the historic aircraft, like the Lancaster fly by regularly. A entire squad of bombers would pop every drywall nail in this place.

May God bless you all. Jen the Angel is pain free watching over us all . -
My wonderful wife has a heavy foot. She has a high profile position in our community and is recognized by everyone including every OPP constable here. " Oh I know you, you are the ,,,,,,,lady." She once told the cop, "I knew you were waiting for me so I got here as soon as I could". Our insurance was to the point I had to come out of retirement to pay for it. 15 years now no speeding tickets. She wants to buy a Nissan 300Z or some ridiculous 400HP thing, I don't think so honey. A fiend works at the track and she takes the 1/4 mile run once and a while at Toronto International Speedway to feed her need for speed which is about 3 hour drive from TO. Another story. Everyone, slow down.

Around 4pm yesterday afternoon we had a thunder boomer NW of us and the sky was black. Looking over Erie it was Blue bird skies, I have never seen this in my 61 years. the rain came down in buckets from the NW and the sky was still clear and sunny over the lake. It only lasted for 20 minutes. Guys 15K from me said it was like that for an hour. Global worming is not the best way to describe our crazy weather these days. I have seen sun showers but never a sun thunderstorm. Is the end near? When it comes I hope I am in bed with my wonderful wife, or on the lake with my her netting a 20 pound pic.. -
Having a device on the line that sounds as soon as it moves a nano meter is something the carp guys use regularly. It even comes with a remote that will tell you the line detects something from many yards away. It must be legal I see it all the time and it was on Labignon's show. Not being close to the rod that is in the water is illegal. I'm not sure the regs define how far you can be from a rod to meet the regs. As in having a rod on the ice outside a hut.

Heaven will have a special Angel to watch over us all now. Inspirational isn't the word to describe this special woman. May you all have peace.
