If you want to show the apathy of Canadians when it comes to the CFL and football this thread proves it. If not for the half dozen participating it would be on page 4 by now. There are 10,000 Ofciniacs here. Where are the football fans? JD out.

It's great to see the support the CFL is getting in the last few years. I think going to TSN is a plus, and spreading the games across the week. The support out west is far greater than here because of all the pro sports available to Canadian fans in the east. Jays, NHL, Ottawa, Mont. Leafs. Plus Buffalo is an hour and a half drive from T.O. 20,000 Buffalo Bills seasons tickets are Canadians. Then you have the Sabres too. You don't get more frenzied fans than in Saskatchewan. What's the answer when a ball player is told they are going to Saskatchewan? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"I retire." Buffalo cuts QB Matt Cassel on Saturday, rehires him this AM for 4.1 million bucks less and names him QB 2 ahead of EJ Manual. Are there no labor laws in the US.? My wife baked a pork loin yesterday. She found a bottle of Apple Cider that was hanging around and let the loin marinate in it fir a few hours and bake it in the cider. Man, good stuff. It was the best I have had in a long time.

Last year we are perch fishing off of Pt. Bruce. A low flying crop duster goes by and sprays on the lake. One guy's boat got sprayed and his wind shield has residue on it. He's flipping out on the radio, I don't blame him. I contact the MNR, as well as the MOE. Are pesticides in the tank, what were they doing, did you know? I never got a call back. There is a thread started on another Fishing forum. A farmer that "says" he is local chimes in and says they are practicing dusting and there was residual chemical in the tanks, not to worry. The question is why over water not a field that could use water in a field? Why so close to the boats.? No reply. The guy joined that day and he deletes his response and quits the forum. Government conspiracy I say to keep us fishing guys calm and not vote.

I hear you about the close Grey Cup games Blizzard. I remember in the 60's when my Uncle from the us said " I wish we had the NFL Championship like the Grey Cup" Not for the scores but we had a week long party years before they did. I do enjoy watching CFL. It just isn't supported here like hockey. A first year CFL players salary is around 50K. A rookie salary down there around 500K. No one in the CFL earns 500K. I think the highest paid in the last few years was Calvillo and Ricky Ray at 400K estimated because CFL salaries are confidential. The CFL are just not in the same league with the NFL like it or not. Heck a high school game I went to in Youngstown Ohio drew 35,000 people 20 years ago. We can't draw those numbers here. And yes a dog game in the NFL can sound like life or death as described by some NFL talking heads. There is zero interest in the Jays when they are losing, the Leafs lose and they pack the place. It's Canada eh. Google search says the average CFL salary is approximately 80K today. An Industrial Mechanic makes that without OT.

Big Golf day tomorrow. 9th Annual John and Fay Beirds Labour Day Charity Golf Invitational. We have this local lakeshore thing every Saturday of the Labour Day weekend. We have a dinner where anyone can come and the girls put on a feast. Corn roast, roast beef, sausage Penne, salads of all types and homemade deserts . Then the live band comes on and we rock it until the band can't anylonger and we put on the tunes on the PA system. We used to raise a few dollars to deserving charities. As we got older we all realized that some of the local folks that participated had or there was someone close to them that had a debilitating disease. So we said "why don't we raise the money and give all of it to them to do what they want with"? So we have for the last 6 or 7 years. Our first year we had 40 golfers raised $500.00 for Heart and Stroke. Last year we raised over $3000.00 with 72 golfers and guests. The band played for free as their donation, I wish I could give their name, can't recall. Unfortunately the big guy (who played in the CFL by the way) didn't make it. But, when he was feeling well enough to travel last fall he took his daughters with him for a week to Cuba 2 months before he died. This year we had a waiting list of golfers and will have each tee with 2 groups on them for a shotgun start. I expect we should hand over at least 6 grand , probably much more, to our friend to do with it what she wishes. People that are told they have 6 months to live have bills to pay just like us healthy folk. No need to worry about paying bills when you have to deal with knowing you are about to die and leave your family to deal with it. I'm sorry I am rambling on but thought I would leave with food for thought. Maybe someone will think about doing something similar on a long weekend in the future. Oh guess who the MC is? T Mobile, aka Tyrod Taylor, has been Joe Flaco's back up for all 4 of his NFL seasons. Yes his passing stats stink. But I don't think you can gauge a QB on 35 pass attempts over 4 years. My pal Wormdunker of OFC fame and I headed out on Erie and launched from Nanticoke where my boat is docked. We were there early to find visibility about 1/2 mile. We waited about an hour and we could see enough that we wouldn't run into an Aircraft Carrier transporting ore. Headed due South and set up in 80 feet of water and trolled to 110 feet. Bait balls that covered the screen right on bottom all day ( I saw one 30 feet deep) until packing up and heading in at Noon. The only Walleye caught was his 30" 8.5 pounder, he says 8.7 but his scale his fish. We were in 105 feet of water when his rod fired. Regardless it was nice fish and his biggest on Erie. I didn't ask him if he had ever caught one bigger, maybe he'll chime in. Caught on a 2 blade copper and perch colored harness down about 100 feet with a large Dipsy Diver, I think 150 feet back on number 3 setting. The surface current was unbelievable if I didn't watch closely the boat would take wild swings in both direections. It is eerie on Erie not being able to see any land marks. Without the GPS and compass we would have been in big trouble for sure. I didn't want to land in NY or PA because the exchange rate is terrible. If anyone heads out on that lake in a 14 footer without a back up compass no matter how many back up batteries on board they are nuts (you reading this Brian?).
