Where do you get fresh perch?

I released that fish once.

Whatever you say Bill. Add a smiley face or LOL and everything is good. I can read English. And yes I am a very sensitive 16 year old girl posing as a 61 year old curmudgeon.

It will be sold in Pot Boutiques as it is sold in Colorado. Denver has bus tours going from pot stores to pot store sampling the goods as they drive around. I hope the driver isn't getting second hand smoke because in the video I saw you can cut the smoke on the bus with a knife. Our world is changing, or is it? My grandmother who was a kid in southern Italy told us in the 1960's about the adults along with the children harvesting hemp for cordage and smoking the buds to feel nice and calm. That would have been in the late 1800's. Maybe we are just going full circle over 100 years latter. Every generation thinks they invented getting high. The Spanish didn't just bring back corn and tobacco from the new world, cocaine became the snuff of choice for the privileged.

Well, it's official, the signs went up today NF

That's not good. Plenty to see on Vancouver Island during the winter. Is the motor home off the table now? -

Go and get yourself one of those motor homes you were considering. Are you still in the market? Buy a very nice turn key condo in Hamilton for the 2 of you for less than $230,000.00 or a 6 month very nice 3 season cottage on leased land near me for less than $50,000.00 and a few grand a year lease then travel the highways and byways of North America while you still can. South in November and back home for Easter. Or just buy a condo and a place in Florida, Texas or Arizona, prices are still reasonable even with the dollar. I wish my wife would be open to the motor home route while I can still drive. The day you sell will be the first day of the rest of your life. The opportunities you have are many. I'm envious. -
The same reason people drink and drive, speed, sell drugs, steal, murder, and, and, and. It's human nature.

Interesting video on effects of fish handling
Old Ironmaker replied to JoshS's topic in General Discussion
Very interesting video, thank you for taking the time to post. Jeremy when you do your talk with the kids spend time talking about the proper way to handle a fish. I have found kids may love to catch them then freak a bit when they have to handle them. -
Lets get to work. I need to live vicariously watching you get er done. It may have been asked and answered but I'll ask regardless. Do you carry a weapon(s) for protection from Cobras and the such, if so what do you carry? I know you guys west are able to do so in different areas whereas here east no way, even in Toronto we can't, well some of us anyway.

There was an interesting piece on HBO Canada last night on the Bill Maher produced show Vice. It gave some interesting views and facts on the Marijuana industry in the US and Canada. Such as the individuals that fought to legalize the use of Marijuana are now going out of business as they can not compete with the corporate growers as the price has plummeted since the market has been glutted with commercially grown weed. The weed Czar that works in the Governor's office for Colorado said they estimated the first year revenue for weed would be $750,000.00 it actually came in at 1 Billion in sales. Ohio voters voted against the legalization. It makes me wonder if we will have a referendum on legalization of weed? I'm all for that. It is a left tilting program but I learned from it.

Why can't civilians that have a vested interest in the enforcement be deputized, like yourself Chessy? Yes there are all manner of difficulties to make that happen but it is done in the US and for firefighting across the country. If each CO were t be teamed up with a civilian volunteer the number of boots on the ground would double overnight.

It's not like the "Apprentice, your fired" more like I think I'll get a second opinion and not go back or ask your family Doc for another specialist. The info in the file is yours, the file is his. When we moved and my wife decided to go to the Dr. across the street from where she works the cost to transfer the file was something like 70 bucks. I didn't give up that money without looking into it. Try and get a file from your Lawyer.

I used to post reports not just here. I didn't figure out how to post pics and a report without photographic proof just doesn't seem to cut it. There is always someone that can't take someone's word that the report has merit. Many point out that you are mistaken, can't use a tape measure right or basically a liar. See post #7 here, a perfect example. I don't think I'm the only one hesitant on posting reports.

Cliff I hear something in your voice and it is a bit of sadness. It is one of the biggest decisions in your life to move away from a wonderful home with so many memories. It has to be hard. Mom and Dad had to go into a retirement residence 2 years ago after living in our home for 60 years. It was very hard for them and still haven't adjusted. We reminisce about the "good old days", I say these are the good new days. We make today what we will think back on tomorrow. We downsized as far as maintenance 16 years ago. 4500 sq feet for the 2 of us was stupid so we moved to our cottage. They are going to have to take me to the morgue from here. I am only going to be 62 and but mornings like today feel like 92. I have good days when I can cut the grass and paint and tidy and, and. If it's a bad day today, tomorrow it will get done. There will be a day I need to go into a condo or apt. just not today. You will make the road your home with that new rig you are going to get. You always have a bed to sleep in when you take in the north shore of Erie, or a plug to hook into when you get here. We will go Walleye hunting in my boat, 2 of these Erie monsters will feed the 4 of us with leftovers. Actually we will stay in the motor home and you can have the whole cottage to Sue and yourself, just don't mess with my remote. -
It would be pronounced Pa-steechie- airy, dee- shago-neeno. I forgot the anchovies for the Poo-tan-esca (as in Pootana) sauce, sorry.

That's an easy one to name your dish Doug AKA Shag, "Pasticciare d' Schiagonino". Or "Shags mess". Pasticce is actually a dish my aunt made, it's basically a white sauce Lasagna using layers of mashed potato. If not done right it can be a mess. I bet your Pasticce was good. Ziti is a type of short pasta, nothing to do with Lasagna. Baked Ziti is a casserole. A great layered Italian dish is the same ingrediants and layering as Lasagna but no pasta. Use 1/2" pieces of pre fried Zucchini rather than strips of pasta. Capers are used in making many tomato sauces. I use them in Spagetti Putanesca. It is said to be the choice of "hookers" in Rome. Quick, easy and spicy just like them. Brown garlic in oil. Add chile flakes and capers Add tomatos, Bring to a boil and simmer until the spaghetti is done Add pasta to pan the sauce is cooked in and add cheese Serve with more cheese, chiles and a drizzle of EVO. I think the capers take acidity from the fast cooked tomato sauce. A trick Mom taught me, if the tomatoes are too acidic add 1/2 of a green pepper while simmering. If someone slipped with the salt peel and cut a potato or 2 in 1/3's and the taters will soak up salt.

I just don't get it when he says "we" as "we" here in Ontario. His main residency is Boston Mass. He does have a "cottage" in the Muskokas but he is basically American now for tax purposes. No way he is paying all the taxes that Canadian residents do if he is that money savvy. And no one is to say any member here hasn't written the same thing to our politicians just as he did. We knew him when he was running a TV camera for Don Cherries Grapevine on Main Street in Hamilton. He was a dork. Now he is a successful dork, good for him he has done pretty well for himself.

A question about measuring wave height.
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Does hanging out, I mean supervising the unloading of the CSL lake freighters for the better part of a 12 hour shift for around 5 years count as hours on the water? Most of that time was in the Galley scarfing down some really magnificent food to be totally honest. A great experience until you had to climb down the hoop ladder into a hold or dock the boat in all kinds of awful weather up until Christmas some years. I won't even bother going out when I can see whitecaps on the horizon now. If I am invited out in one of the larger boats of 28 feet or more in a tournament 3 footers, I mean 6 footers aren't really a problem. The problem is that they are not all just 6 footers especially with wind speeds increasing, that's when I say thanks but no thanks. Otherwise whitecap days are golf days. Good to learn how to properly id wave height, thanks all. -
Car went through ice on Simcoe today ?

Idioto. I'm happy he wasn't injured or worse but he sounds like an idioto. Stupid people are the result of poor DNA handed down, it's not their fault really. Ignorance on the other hand is someone with a semblance of intelligence that does stupid things. -
If you were looking for a new tiller boat
Old Ironmaker replied to bigcreekdad's topic in General Discussion
Which ever boat you choose just do it. As they say "we ain't getting any younger". I can't say I have any experience with an Alumicraft but have only heard good things about them. Almost as good as StarCraft. -
Thinking about buying a new boat.
Old Ironmaker replied to pike slayer's topic in General Discussion
I can't take credit for authoring that list. As I said it was from iboat. I wish I had it when I was shopping even though I bought a used gem of a boat, better lucky than good. -
A question about measuring wave height.
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
They are saying a 4 foot wave is 4 feet to the bottom of the trough i.e. below flat and 4 feet to the crest, above flat which makes it a 8 foot wave. I bet I'm on the water more than in the NWT's. We don't have to wait until mid June for the ice to melt, ha, gotch ya.
