  1. Hey Dood, all fish are minnows at one time in their lives Dood. Don't dood me you whipper snapper, you.
  2. No, I haven't a clue sorry Huzz, I've heard of Otter Creek that's about it. We go to Pt. Bruce down the road to get out on the lake for Perch a few times a year. The creek at Pt. Bruce has sheepshead and cats in the creek in the summer. Check out Stomps Long Point channel 6-8 fishing forum for that area. Plenty of info there. I'm presuming you are camping there. Have you ever camped at Rock Point P.P. It is right next to the Grand in Port Maitland on the east side of the river. Plenty of shore fishing there in the summer.
  3. Is it legal to net suckers? I'm thinking maybe because they are nothing more than big minnows. I have had more luck with Shrimp than the stinkiest putrid smelling sucker or chicken liver bait for Cats. Then you can eat what you didn't use for bait. Uncooked shrimp and precooked have both worked. I won't let Fishmaster's secret Cat bait in my boat.
  4. Some really sharp looking knives there Art (sorry for the pun). Nice work.
  5. n my experience as Art stated basically is that a grinding wheel or sharpening stone in the wrong hands will ruin the most expensive knives in the world. The harder the steel the less flexible the knife, the softer the steel the blade dulls faster. I use a stiffer boning knife to get the fillets off the bone or cut through bone to make Salmon steaks for example. Then a longer flexible knife to fillet the meat from the skin or rib cage. For perch I pay the owner of where my boat is moored to do them in the 100 year old potato peeler and she then debones them. 3 bucks a pound net weight. A 2 man limit of perch would take us hours I would bet. I would never order a knife if I couldn't see how it feels in my hand. For a knife one size don't fit all just like shoes.
  6. I still too have my original Rappala from the early 80's. It's 1/2 as wide now. If you are in the Hamilton area you can buy used Nella Cutlery boning and fillet knives from a few butcher stores. edit: now that I see you're from Quebec I don't think you will be going to Hamilton to buy a great knife.
  7. Not much going on there at this time of the year. Far too early. End of April maybe.
  8. Roe Bag,you have a contract so at least you have something rather than a handshake which sadly today means nothing. The two things on your side is that you have a mutually agreed on date for removal, March, but if that's not written on the contract it means nothing, he said, she said. Now the question is what is meant by "reasonable access"? That's the tough one, how one person interprets it here is not what Roe Bag may interpret it. I want my boat, if you jammed your place up so that "reasonable access" isn't now possible or it's not reasonable to move 50 boats to get your boat accessible how is that Roe Bags problem? The owner of the facility should have taken steps to ensure access was "reasonable". So now it's on the owner but he refuses to make the boat "accessible" what recourse does one have other than to pursue a lawsuit in small claims court in the future. That doesn't get the boat out now though. And then the plaintive needs to show what is his loss. What if it was a charter guys boat and he planned on taking charters out as soon as ice out and the guy says nope, unreasonable access. The owner looses for sure I believe strongly. I might think Roe Bag might win in court for a portion of the storage fee because his monitory loss isn't quantifiable, that would be up to a judge. However a contract is only binding if there is a meeting of the minds and here there wasn't obviously so there is no contract according to some legal eagles. One would have to prove the owner knew exactly what was agreed to specifically releasing the property in March but now says no. A good lesson to us all. I drive contractors, sellers, buyers or business associates bonkers sometimes. W5, who, what, when, where and why, then throw in how and we have a deal, otherwise I'll look to someone else. This a good lesson for us all.
  9. Actually I was surprised it was un renovation, closed on 14', with the price per square in TO downtown I thought another glass tower would be there already.
  10. He will be missed. We still get Barrie and watch the news from there rather than TO or Hamilton. He seemed to be a "real" person. I wished I knew him. Rest in peace Bob.
  11. I went online today and the El Macambo is under renovation. What was this thread about? Man I need to get out on the water ASAP.
  12. I love Sudbury. We played up there once every season and if we didn't show up we could still beat them. To compare Sudbury to T.O. is a stretch. I wouldn't live in either place. Yes Toronto is the centre of the Universe. And because of Torontonians we have our Liberal Gov. at Queens Park. If you live there you better make at least 6 figures. If I still had the place across from Hyde Park when I lived there in the 70's I would be a millionaire. The only thing I miss of Toronto is the El Macambo on Spadina.
  13. Flood warning for the Grand here. We are supposed to get quite a bit of rain but without the ice dams that cause the Grand to flood lowlands I can't see the problem. I remember a few years back Dunnville had so much flooding because of the mouth of the river dammed up with ice that the old cemetery was under 4 feet of water.
  14. Great intro. 23 and you have your own boat. I know some your age that Mommy has to buy them socks. Be careful on any water and welcome aboard.
  15. Terry reworded it for you.
  16. Fantastic move for you. You only get 1 shot at life so live it to the fullest that you can. Akrinsoner. As far as a fiancé "giving permission" oh my oh my. You might want to shop around or phrase your situation a little differently. Permission, I give permission not get permission, then do as I'm told. Seriously though it's no way to start a relationship by getting her permission or thinking you need her permission, no way whatsoever. Get back to us in 10 years and let us how it all worked out.
  17. I second that motion. I don't see anyone that practices angling for sports fish to ever be charged with cruelty if done in a responsible fashion as it is intended to be practiced. Fear mongering at it's best.
  18. An Amber Alert is for missing children. It started in the US, California I think and is named for a child abducted and killed, her name was Amber. I have been wrong in the past. There is a different alert system when the public is in danger on the Emergency Broadcast System. It is tested occasionally on TV and radio.
  19. Mods you can delete this thread please. N.A.W. posted the same subject a few minutes before I did.
  20. You post beat me by 5 minutes, I agree 100%, some people are just ignorant.
  21. Around 9:15 last evening TV programming was interrupted for an Amber Alert. A good Samaritan called 911 when they saw what appeared to be a child forced into a vehicle in Orillia. It turned out that it was the kids parents bringing the child home and the kid was running away. It came on about 4 more times until the alert was cancelled. I have never seen this here. It automatically took you to a different channel. I like that proactive policing, no more call back in 24 hours and we will start looking. Believe it or not 911 and providers received calls from people complaining it was interrupting their TV program or locking their TV's!!!!! Man people never cease to amaze me.
  22. It will depend on the size of your boat to see the benefits of hydraulics. I changed my rack and pinion on my 19 footer last year and it feels like power steering now. Not an easy job since I didn't take the 115HP off to do it like every marine shop said they had too, not true. Rather than try and pull the old cable I just cut in sections with a bolt cutter. Making the 90 degree turn at the gunnel and transom was the challenge. I know a guy that went to hydraulic on a smaller aluminum and he doesn't see the difference.
  23. Some people don't have lives and need attention. She's a crack pot. Did she just move there because crack pots are usually cracked the day they move in next to you. Bake her some cookies or maybe a few Brownies and a bag of chips.
  24. You really should consider one of these 3 season places they have here on Erie Cliff. I saw 1 today going for 45 grand. 2 beds, 1 bath, kitchen and dining room, living room. 900 ftsq. Not a mobile home, a cottage.
