Buying a used boat. What to look for.
Old Ironmaker replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
Go to iboats.com and look at the general discussion forum and you will find a post pinned listing everything to look for on a used boat both aluminum and glass. I'll find the link. If you only do 1 thing make sure you run it in the water, not on muffs or in a drum, run it under load. If the seller has any issue with taking it out say bye, bye. I see many boats for sale out here in our area and trailers are important. Some will swap out the trailers; Try this link http://forums.iboats.com/forum/general-boating-outdoors-activities/boat-topics-and-questions-not-engine-topics/650747-for-new-members-needing-help-buying-a-boat-a-buyer-s-checklist -
Well, the SOLD signs went up last night NF
Old Ironmaker replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
A bitter sweet win Cliff. I'm happy that you got through it and got your price. We are going on 21 years here and I know it can't last forever. Living on lakefront sure is a different lifestyle with the good far outweighing the bad. Our armour rock wall slid onto the beach last November during a Gale storm and I need to get an excavator here in the fall. Not cheap. Don't try to move yourself. Hire a pro. We aren't 40 anymore. -
Question about jig/plastic rigging weights
Old Ironmaker replied to FrankTheRabbit's topic in General Discussion
Yep, overthinking it a tad, or more. My go to rod is a jig rod when I have a jig on it, a crank bait rod when I have a crank bait on it a trolling rod etc. etc. I am probably under thinking it. I can't spell parabolic let alone stress over it. -

This World of ours is truly beautiful, thanks for the pics, gorgeous. -
I am so happy you weren't injured badly. Now I have owned all 3 pick ups. I am a Chevy Silverado guy. I bought my first brand new for me vehicle from a dealer in 2011. A Chev Silverado. The same F 150 was $15,000.00 more, same for the Ram. I am a best value for my money kind of guy. In my opinion the Chevy was the best value. I now have 95,000 K on it and it runs and looks like new. My next door neighbour Jim bought his F 150 the same year and he paid over 17K more for it than I paid for my Chevy. He has more bells and whistles that he never uses than my Silver Bullet. It runs well but not 17K more well. I didn't even look at the Dodge Ram as a very close friend has a 2009 and is going on his 3rd tranny. I chose the crew cab full 4 door with a smaller box because I am kind to my passengers, tons of rear leg space. I love my Chevy. Plus from the money I saved I bought a 19 foot StarCraft with a 115 Mariner. I had it before I bought the truck. I can't even feel it behind my Chev. It's the small block 8, 4.8, but I have no complaints. I did the mileage thing last month and am getting 13 without the boat and 15 Lts/100 K towing, not bad I think as my wife's Altima gets 9 LTS/100K. It doesn't have the on board fuel calculator but for 15K savings I can use my dollar store calculator. Good luck shopping.

Featherstone Ted is dealing with Verigo right now. He can't even stand some days let alone fish. Normally he would have been out in the boat every other day since April plus a week at Quinte, not out once this year. Not good at all. I empathize pics.

Killing them is their easy way out. I'll pay my taxes to watch them rot away in prison. They should amputate a limb one at a time, when healed cut off another one. I can't remember being so incensed by a crime like this one. Maybe because it's so close to home. They must live in pain for the rest of their natural born lives. And that POS right hand man of POS #1 has been charged for the murder of Laura Babcock as well.

Old Ironmaker replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
My old ice transducer arm would work perfectly for your toon. A portable Eagle Ultra that works like new 22 years after I got it and still use it occasionally on tinnies on back lakes. I am glad your unit is working Brian, now go get them pesky fishes. We got skunked this AM, not even a farm animal. -
I haven't boated one yet this year either. Lost a few at the boat and I never usually lose them, I need a new net man. I will catch one this coming weekend fishing for Bass I bet.

Mike, thank you for the additions to my Mike Leung photo file. Beauty pics Mike and nice going on the Esox.

Listened to Roy Green today on CHML. He had a criminal Attorney on, if the one that has been charged with 1st degree murder for his father and girlfriend Laura Babcock and is convicted he may never see the light of day again as it is possible he would serve concurrent sentences that will be 75 years. That is unless he lives past 100 and I hope he does. A hangmans noose would be the easy way out. The other one faces a 1st degree murder as well I think I heard, not 100% certain. I will never utter their names again if I can help it as notoriety was one of their highs.

The highs and lows of fishing (and how to catch a muskie)
Old Ironmaker replied to Dutch01's topic in General Discussion
If we get into a lunker the first thing I do is pull the anchor, 1 less thing to deal with when you have a big girl on. Then have someone steering to position the boat so you dictate where the fish is not the other way around. Like on that show Wicked Tuna, they are always maneuvering the boat to get the fish away from anything that will break it off. -
The sad thing is since those 2 things were charged I often forgot the name of the innocent victim Tim Bosma and could only remember the names of those examples of human waste. I want 10 minutes in a room with those 2 piece's of crap. I'm sure they will have a adventurous stay in Kingston, they wanted adventure now they have it. Enjoy your stay boys and don't drop the soap.

Millard has been charged with 1st degree murder for his Father and girl friend. The Crown will let it slide now I predict. I hope not.

Suggestions/tactics for Ottawa River (Temiscaming)
Old Ironmaker replied to Black_Blade's topic in General Discussion
We had a camp on the Ottawa down river of Pembroke for 10 years, 82 to 92. No where near you though. The go to bait was Black and metal flake silver floating Rappala. Crazy as it sounds but we would use nothing else for Walleye then including live bait. Go get em!!! -

You the Dad Mike, fantastic parenting. You should be coaching the kids. One of my personally rewarding and most fulfilling things I did in my life was coaching HS Football.

Not much compares to that ride. How he wasn't killed is unanswerable. On my to read list next winter.

Ontario to spend $7-billion on sweeping climate change plan
Old Ironmaker replied to fishnsled's topic in General Discussion
I did not waste 30 minutes watching that presentation. Of course there are glaring red flags both scientifically and politically just like the counterpoint movie by Al Gore. Please watch it. -

I did not waste 30 minutes watching that presentation. If you have not watched it but have watched Al Gores movie please watch it. A very good counterpoint. He basically says Co2 is good for our environment but has the science to back it up. There is glaring politics and questionable statements in his talk, just like everyone elses. -
Medicinal frozen Corn, I like Peas myself, really helps during flare ups. The only thing that sets it off now is swinging a framing hammer of which I never ever intend on doing for the rest of my entire life. That's what 18V drills and screws are for. Work smart not physically hard. Garnet you are going to kill your 1/2 ton with loads like that, been there done that and have the T Shirt.

This movie was never in contention for an Oscar nor was Ali's acting. He plays himself in the Cassius Clay era and on and Ernest Borgnine plays Angelo Dundee. It hit the theatres in 1977 if you are an Ali fan just seeing him for a few hours is worth the pain of watching it, it wasn't that bad, yea it was. I don't think I have seen it since we went to the theatre to see it on the big screen. OOPS 8:30 PM not 8:00

The first smart thing I have heard Trump say yesterday was he is in favour of not allowing any individuals on the "NO FLY" list to purchase a gun. I jumped up and said "they can?" A Republican big wig spokesman basically said that was unconstitutional. They can't even agree with themselves. I couldn't even hire an employee if they could not get a clear Criminal Clearance Check here to sub contract work to Home Depot, they had the same policy for HD in the US. But they would be eligible to buy a weapon down there.

Picked up something new for bass season
Old Ironmaker replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Just like an old Lunker that learns what and what not to fall for I won't be spending 20 more Samolians for a Live Target bait.
