We Canadians lost more citizens per capita then did Americans in both world wars. We were a country of around 15 million and the US was around 150 million if I remember, just a guess. Brian, you know where I live and the bugs are so bad here in the spring it looks like smoke along Lakeshore Rd. Bring a can of Pam spray oil with you. Spray the front of that thing you drive (Ford) with the veggie oil spray. The bugs will wipe right off with a soft cloth, no damage. I've been doing it for a few years.

I have met good cops and not so good ones. I have never been so nice as when I have occasion to be questioned by Police. The worse have been in the US, maybe because of the Ontario plates. I'll say it again, I do know that many cops down there should not be cops from day 1, some are simply not qualified, actually I bet it's many. I had a neighbour in Florida that was a cop, he was piss drunk on the job half the time. I know that for a fact.

I rented a cottage 25 years ago on Nippising and they charged us $800.00 for the week and $750.00 for an 17'aluminum with a 15HP elec start. Very nice place and a great boat, Cozy Cove Cottages, and great Walleye then. On the way back I told Ticha " we are buying a cottage and a boat next year" and I did, so the price wasn't really that crazy 25 years latter. It took a few years to get the right boat though, 18 actually. I know of this Manitou guy, he has been known to be a no show. Like last summers visit to the Hammer, no show, eh Richard?

I had one slither it's way into my boat in upper NY state a few years back. It was about 4' long. I put it in my net and put it in the water and it swam away. You could tell it was comfortable in the water. That was the morning I decided I would never sleep in my boat again. I was freaking inside but didn't want to show that to the guys there. Otherwise I would have woken up with one in my sleeping bag with me. Americans are really funny guys you know.

In 75' on a lark we answered an add in a Fort Lauderdale newspaper looking for LEO's when on vacation. One of us wanted t be a Cop here (he eventually became a Chief here in Ontario after hard work). We had grade 13 at the time. Basically within an hour and filling out a 2 page application they were measuring us for a uniform. Green cards no problem. I was making 20K at the Steel plant and the wage was 12K a year, to be a Cop in Miami. Many down there are just not qualified to do that job. Simple as that. Watch the A@E series 60 Days In. Regular citizens are put in lock up for 60 days. One was a female Cop. She had serious mental issues and I cringe to think she carried a gun. After the series was over she quit. Or was she asked to quit.

I just lost a lengthy post about the qualifications to be a Leo in the US vs. here in Ontario, I don't know about the rest of the country. Grade 12 and you are a Glock carrying cop down there for basically minimum wage. And they have a problem? No crap.

We have several small trailers at the shop yard that would fit the bill. This thread has morphed into a discussion of the police shootings this week. I thought it was about the 5 Cops being murdered in Dallas last night. CNN showed a photo taken by a citizen from up north, Ohio I think, and sent to authorities of a man with a camo shirt on, black cargo shorts and sneakers walking amongst the protesters. The reason the pic was taken was he had an AR type weapon slung over his shoulder amongst the crowd and no one, not a single person seemed to take note other than this guy from up north and 1 other that texted his photo to Police. Texas has an open carry policy and I guess that includes openly carrying an assault rifle in a public place with a massive Police presence. The man turned himself in after his face was shown on TV across the world. He had nothing to do with the shooting. I think this open display of an assault weapon during a protest is common place in Texas because not even the Police, and there were 100's of them, took notice. Strange is all I can say and I don't get it and can't believe a guy can walk around with a rifle strapped to his shoulder and no one took notice.

Tournaments have been getting some heavy criticism as of late. I hope all play by the rules and everything goes well. Tourneys like this bring some much needed revenues to areas like Rice. Good luck and first and foremost be safe and have fun and out there.

I stayed up to watch the TO/BC Football game late and while channel surfing caught the beginning of the massacre. I stayed up until 5 glued to the TV. Sad state we are in, just sad. I haven't felt this sense of helplessness since the 60's when I was an adolescent and witnessed the riots and assassinations down south. Can you imagine the folks who's loved ones are Police Officers in Dallas and watching firefights live on TV and not knowing how or where that person was?

Luckily no bugs here so far, Bruce is loaded with them buggers. I have never been bit by the May Flies, what were they that they bit? As far as size, a 5 pound Pic here is a small one and I agree 100% the smaller the sweeter. This must be the only fishery where we hope the Walleye is a small one which would be 5 pounds. My smallest last year was 8.

Trolling in a Toon. Man those feet must just be pumping along. I used to dive and have U.S. Diver fins, what type of fin do you use Brian? As far as harnesses it depends on the length of harness. 3 feet behind a Dipsy Diver or Jet Diver. For bottom bouncing no more than 24". Since I moved out here shallow is 40 feet.

Did you leave any for us Dave? Too windy for me yesterday plus my body was done after going 0 for 2 Sunday out of Nanticoke and taking a good pounding coming back in after we trolled all the way from the creek to my place. We did get a few nice Smallies in front of the cottage though in 15 feet of water bouncing tubes. Way to go Dave.

I don't find the Smallmouth population here on Erie has declined at all, in fact in my unscientific opinion the average Bass is larger. I am told it is because of the Goby population explosion. didn't see as many spawning Bass here this spring though.
