Newly renovated and good eats. Fresh Pickerel and perch is a must. Port Dover, Callaghan's right on the beach, guess what they have? Pickerel and perch. Try the home made sea food chowder. DJ's Dinner on Lakeshore west of Port Colbourne. Fantastic slab of Prime Rib Sunday's special and, yep Pickerel and Perch. Where should I eat near you? If in downtown Hamilton Capri Italian Restaurant John St N, north of King St. real deal home made Italian. Better salsa (like you say it Big Ugly) or succo than mine sorry to say.

I slather up with that hi SPF goop since I as well have had a few dark spots my Dr. doesn't like on my forehead and arms. No plan to carve them out yet. I wear a long sleeve hi SPF shirt and always wear long cotton pants, mainly for bugs. I wear a bandana when I remember and a wide brim hat when I remember that too. That's fishing only, golfing, shorts and short sleeve and cap. My wife gives me all Hell for that. I don't like to fish or golf after 12 noon. The best prevention is to stay out of the Sun and that isn't happening anytime soon. The key words going in John is "non-refundable". Unless it was proved that all the authorities knew going in he would never get to build that garage and he could prove it he won't get it back. I have witnessed 3 pound male Smallies hammer 20 pound plus Carp like a torpedo protecting their beds here. Some one here said a Bass doesn't have a chance against a 30 pound Carp, not true. They are as aggressive as a Pit Bull protecting their beds. Cool to watch them.

I was in the construction business 10 years ago, Sunrooms. We did business in your neck of the woods. Niagara Escarpment Commissions, permit #1, Niagara Conservation Authority, permit #2, local jurisdiction, permit #3, then if construction is within 300 meters of a highway under the auspices of the MOT, permit #4, then of course every other job requires a variance that is non refundable, goof tax #5. Oops, I forgot it was in The Greenbelt whatever that means, permit #6. Then there is the idiot at City Hall that makes it clear he like Blue Jays games or you file might not make it to the top of the pile. That was when I lost it and contacted the Police and 5 of them got fired after a 2 year investigation. All that cost is enough to put a small company trying to play be all the rules out of business, oh yea I did pack it in when it was obvious it was killing me and was not able to make a thin dime. My business partner continued until he was charged with assaulting a building inspector. Unfortunately Ranger Guy has a tough road ahead of him. Knowing what I know now if I were he I would buy a new place that has a garage. As they say you can't fight City Hall. Actually you can fight them you just can't win. I continued to pull permits a few years ago for an associates construction company but I never got upset because it wasn't my money being spent and I made good money doing it.

Numbers are down because I caught them all. Seriously there are so many factors to take into consideration even on a small body of water from water quality to weather just to say there aren't as many fish here is more complicated than that. Numbers of perch in the go to spots have certainly dropped here locally on Erie in the last 2 years. It was normal to see 25 boats all huddled up in 1 particular spot, this year no one is fishing there. Even a place on the west shore of Long Point called Hastings where a limit of good sized perch was almost a given is not yielding the numbers in the past. That's not to say there are less perch because the commercial nets are full. Walleye is about the same for this time of the year, maybe better for this time of the year. I did notice that there was not near the numbers of carp spawning behind our place this spring as compared to the last 19 years we have had this place. Less Bass beds right out back this year as well.

I spent a good portion of the last 16 years pulling permits for my buddies construction company. I have never heard such a load of Bull in my life. I don't know what a petition will do for you, I hope it does help but unfortunately I can tell you it looks like time you consulted with a lawyer. Petition signed.

The Dallas Police Chief said today that if the same circumstances were faced tomorrow he would make the same decision to blow the guy to Kingdome Come. The perpetrator was in a position that would put his people in harms way to get a shot off. The guy made it absolutely clear he wasn't about to surrender before he killed more Police. He told them he had bombs planted in many locations in Dallas set to go off. That's what surprised me when I heard the blast on CNN during the stand off in the wee morning hours. If he indeed had bombs planted killing him before they could get that info from him could be tragic. It was clear to Police he was toying with them for the 2 hour stand off. I don't think he saw that coming. A pound of C-4 was used, I don't know if that's a lot, it sure sounds like it. I support the Chiefs decision 100%. He is impressive to say the least. Kill innocent people and threaten to kill more and you aren't living to tell about it. Even a nut bar may think twice about it.

And if you do shoot a Cop expect to be blown up too. I tried to go out this AM and you couldn't see the remodeled restaurant from my slip at Marshal's let alone the lake. Of course as soon as I got back on Rainham Rd. the sky clears and it has been gorgeous here all day with the lake as calm as a sleeping baby. Do you put in at Hoovers or Marshal's at Nanticoke? Marshal's is about 10 bucks less then Hoovers. It's not much of a secret now.
