All the background checks and application process can be eliminated if you have a nice boat and are willing to take out OFC members on it. Welcome aboard and sorry to hear you are getting into Musky fishing. Ihave yetto meet a happy Musky fanatic. Lew used to be a stand up comic until he caught his first Esox.

Schooled up on a Scattered Pattern - PB SMB - Nickel Status

It is Hawg Smallie season here on Erie. Nothing to haul in one 5 after another on a simple drop shot rig drifting a shoal drop off, 25 to 30 feet of water. If your going to get a 7 plus now's the time. The problem is getting a day where it doesn't look like the north shore of Oahu -
What are you watching lately, TV, Movies..etc
Old Ironmaker replied to ckewley's topic in General Discussion
Yep WestWorld is my kinda show. I didn't like the movie, this cast is better. Caught an episode of Quarry the other night. Viet Nam vet with PTSD turns hitman. Well done, beyond extreme graphic violence. Not for everyone. Once you get the "Game of Thrones" addiction you are done for, life revolves around Sunday nights new episode for my lady. She has a count down clock like they do at CNN for the next debate. 245 Days, 23 Hours and 21 Minutes. If I was laid out at the Funeral Home she might not show up if that show was on. -
Cat Caviar. My wifes cat eats better than I do.

Do the T.O. Police have nothing better to investigate? This witch hunt is ridiculous. Batter up!

I would like to know why the Showalter put out a pitcher with an ERA over 5 to pitch with a man on 3rd base and the clean up man at bat with their best hurler sitting in the Bull Pen with his jacket on? I thought it was mistake and couldn't believe it. I don't care if it is their best starter that pitched the day before. This is your entire season, 1 pitch, 1 single and you go home until 2017. All the sports talk shows today in the states want to know the same answer because they can't believe the move too.

AKRINSONER, Moneyball was more about how a small market team tried to level the playing field with big market big money teams using a laptop (sabermetrics). It didn't work. My question is whether there is a salary cap now in MLB? As is in the NFL, that is how that league has created parity and competition without billionaire owners buying a Super Bowl. Band wagon is getting full, LET'S GO BLUE JAYS, LET'S,,,,,PLAY,,,,,BALL. I want you younger guys to experience the thrill of your home team winning the World Championship. There isn't a better feeling for any sports fan, nothing comes close. 11 bucks, maybe more than a buck an ounce.

Fans do stupid ass stuff because they drink too much a buck an ounce Beer. I remember the days sitting in section 26 at Ivor Wynne when the sound of an empty glass 26er rolling down the stairs was normal. Watching the fist fights was worth the price of a ticket.

As far a budgeting for a roster if anyone here is old enough to have enjoyed and can remember the back to back World Series they won, those 2 teams were bought to do exactly that. From getting Dave Stuart's pitching away from Oakland and Dave Winfield's hitting from the Yanks as well as many key players that were instrumental in securing both championships. Not to mention the base running of Ricky Henderson in the second year if I remember right, tough to do lately. Just the perfect blend of Super Star talent to add to the solid roster that the Jay's had. The second team that won the Series was an All-Star team, they were pretty well all gone by the next 2 seasons. Stienhower's (sic) unlimited millions bought all the Yankees World Series wins back then. If I remember right either Tampa Bay or Florida did exactly the same thing one year back then. The entire team was dismantled the year after. I don't know how MLB is structured today i.e. salary caps as is in the NFL. I know the smaller market teams were incensed when an owner could simply afford to buy a championship 25 years ago.

I recommend the "Tackle Mate" box. I use the smaller version to store all my Walleye plugs and spoons. The larger box is made for those bricks you guys toss for Musky. $89.99 at Bills Bait or Fishing World in Hamilton. I got mine ordered in from Bill's Bait. Great boxes, sturdy and simple. tacklemate.com.

Geoff, this last May 24 weekend I towed the boat 7 hours north to a nice little Walleye lake. Day 1 all afternoon and into the evening we trolled, back trolled, drifted, cast, flipped, drop shot, jigged every structure, drop off, point, weed edge, fast water top and bottom, eddies at all depths and all other locations where a self respecting Wally would let me hook my first of the year. Nada, niltch, niema, nienti, niet. That evening our hosts son and his buddy came into camp around 11PM. They limited out off the dock by mid night on black buzz baits. Go figure. The next day we were shoulder to shoulder on that little dock. That's where all the fish were caught that weekend. Good luck Geoff. Jeremy is still knapping. The ending is "The bite stops cold until we see the Shark".

I have been to a few launches where there are very nice house trailers parked very close. One launch we went to you had to back in between 2 rental cottages, any boat larger than mine would never get in. I had to get out and move a table, chairs and a few bikes. I don't see any legal ramifications as to how far from a launch a residence, permanent or temporary can be. At a place we stay in upper NY state you beach the boat and tie off to the land, woke one morning to head out and there were 3 tents and a beach blanket bingo party set up a few feet from the boats. Buddies boats windshield was smashed out (the owners paid for a new window). I sure wouldn't camp close to one seeing how adept some are at launching as Sterling points out. I have seen many launches where basically the land ends and the water starts.

Them Bronze Backs would put you into some big money Summer tourneys. Nice goin'. TJ, I have a golf buddy that can be your older twin, right down to the tooth gap, shades and Red/Black shirt, eerie actually. If you want to know what you will look like in a few years just grey the beard. -
Kittens work great too. I have seen a Musky or Pike come up and take the last duckling paddling along on a bay at Nippising. The Mother duck went berserk.

The man single handedly put "Golf" into the homes and onto the courses of North America. He made it cool to golf when it was a game for the privileged only.

I'm not sure I would eat anything out of the Grand, actually I am, I wouldn't. Reports of raw sewage from the towns along the river are not a regular thing but not rare either. That plus all the runoff from farms there tells me to not eat fish from that river. Many do. Groundy would never lie about the size of a fish. He said they were 1/2 as long as he was. I don't think he hits 5' now and he was 10 then! It was McKenzie Creek.
-
That's funny Sinker. If water temps dipped like that I would say you were looking at a lock jaw cold front.
-
I know there are not any real numbers of Pike reported being caught on the Grand from below Caledonia to the lake. My pal who grew up in Caledonia tells of huge pike being speared 50 years ago in the creeks during spawn there, maybe that's why there aren't many now. No idea what or where Pike may be above Caledonia.

Salmon and Lake Trout Stocking Reductions for 2017

A great thread for even this no longer Salmon fisherman, thanks. -
I'm going to guess team NA is some Canadians and Mexicans right? How did they decide who plays for the US and who for Canada as well as team NA? It doesn't appear team NA are cast offs or are they? I know zip about hockey since the Leafs won the Cup. I warmed the bench for shinny games.

I hear you Ketchenany, there is a shop that opened near us called Mingia. My Italian stinks let alone spelling. If there is a meat that has a bone on it I will make Suggo, I know what succo means too, funny. Rabbit is a favorite around here with polenta. -

Nice job on the Mutant Ninja shell, she will be happy. I've never seen fancier anti pasto. PM me some. Made succo today. 4 hours on the stove, the meat is falling off the bones. Pork and beef ribs. Cooking some large Ontario cheese ravioli. -

Dave my garlic and olio does have a can of anchovies in it. They liquefy in the oil garlic and and pepper flakes, try it. My southern friends add bread crumbs as well as parm to the spaghetti, I like Spagettini best. Don't pour the sauce over the cooked pasta add the pasta to the pan you made the olio in. -

My way is the right way!!!! Ha. Forget about region to region recipes are different in the same family. I wouldn't feed my aunts tomato sauce to the cat. She feels the same for mine I bet. I missed something in the translation, I thought you were the down homer, must be the other guy. Where are you from? -

Somebuddy out der is gonna toon yous guys up. I'm tellin ya'. I'm tellin ya'. Ketch, I think the best way is to jar them after cleaning them and pressing the oil out then a few whole cloves of garlic and a leaf or 2 of fresh Basil fill with veggie oil and then boil them to seal the disinfected jars. They would always tasted best like our Mom and Nani did. I put them in freezer bags and fill with water and seal and freeze. After thawing take them out and towel dry them well. In a colander a clean dish towel or cheese cloth lines it. The dried as possible peppers go into the scula pasta (water go spaghetti stop) and another towel on top. OK this gets silly now, the colander goes into a large bowl and a brick or 2 goes on top of the top towel in the fridge over night to weigh down the peppers. Much water and oil will be in the bottom of the bowl the colander sits in the next AM. The oil is bitter usually. I will let the oil guys make oil. The peppers now go into a jar with canola oil, a few peeled garlic cloves and a few sprigs of fresh basil. The peppers will last many weeks as long as you keep filling the jar with oil when the peppers are taken out so they don't come into contact with the air. No olive oil, Canola oil. A bushel of properly done pepes only fills a part of a colander, that's it, low yield. Kind of gong backwards here, after they are blackened they need to cool down so the skin lifts off the meat to clean them. They go into brown paper bags and they steam actually finishing the cooking process. I cheat, I put down layers of newspaper on the table and as they come hot off the grill I lay them out on the paper and cover them with more paper. A few pages not just one to insulate them. Once they are all cool to the touch, peel them, core them and take the seeds out under the tap. Now that you have done 1/2 dozen bushels and drank a few gallons of red wine and a crock of Vecchio Romano call everyone and give them all away. I know I complain but I like sharing my pepe. I can still get them for 15 bucks a box, same as bushel from a Brantford wholesaler we know. My eyes aren't great this week, did you not peel them, core them and deseed them? Those peppers need to be blackened 100%. Me thinks you guys better stick to Cod tongue pie. Bring over a bushel and we will do them together.
