Art this thread has digressed from a debate from the original discussion of the impending election to US foreign policy to the spewing of ridiculous partisan propaganda. I think we have voiced our opinions about the election and you may lock this thing and I won't be upset. When I open a can of worms I do a pretty good job.

Time to go to the bullpen, top of the 5th. Sanchez is done for now, what's Skipper waiting for? MVP snag and throw, wowza. Beauty play.

Cars last about 10 years, as do most marriages.

Packing up the boat right now to head to LSC early in the AM. We need all the luck we can get. I may have put the jinx on us as I borrowed a huge Musky/King net from a friend.

K.C. I watched the Clinton bash video, if 5% is actually true it stinks to high Heaven. Both sides stink to high Heaven. There is so much dung being spewed out of the mouths of both parties and players it would take a life time of work to go through it all and try and sort out what is true or false.

Scuro2 I owe you an apology. I re read what you wrote and don't see anything really out of line. Subliminally close but after video replay review no foul. Seriously KC it really sounds that some or actually most of the 1st video and recordings made over drinks could be anyone being braggadocios about how important they are. I would think those recordings were done without the persons knowing they were being recorded. They are all a bunch of slime balls in my opinion. The only one that has shown any class is Milania Trump. I watched her interview with Anderson Cooper tonight, CNN and he are obviously biased towards Clinton and she participated in the interview anyway. Classy lady, and easy on the eyes. Some of her defence of Trump is ridiculous but she sat there and answered most questions honestly. My favorite answer about some of Trumps comments was "he is raw,,,,,, I have told him I'm not happy with some things he says". Honest answer that is rare in this whole mess. And it's getting messier. Now Trump says if he looses the election is rigged. If he wins is it still rigged?

Bruce you buy cheap bread. Me too, that what the budget tells me I'm eating. Actually I bought a bread maker on the weekend. Better than the Styrofoam they sell now.

It definitely was better for a working man back then, by far. We were able to buy a home no matter what age, regardless of 19% interest rates in 81. If you didn't have a net worth of 100K by the time you were 30 you were a looser in the early 80's. Many of us bought homes in the 70's before you were 25. All you needed was 5% down through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp, CMHC. And a job that paid enough that 33% of your gross covered the mortgage. Your wife's earnings didn't count. Pics I hear you and have empathy. I never in my life reached into my pocket at a Dentists or Pharmacy, ever. I always shook my head when I saw families use a Visa card at those places and thanked my lucky stars. My health care is about 20% of my pension now a month and growing. That wasn't the deal I signed up and worked for, you either. People used to tell me, you are so lucky to have that pension and benefits, luck? I f%^%$^ed earned it, that was the deal. I risk my life, as do you and every person that walk's down that laneway every shift and that was the deal, especially where you are, I do this dirty dangerous job and you pay me. It feels like after you sign off for your pension you get a letter in the mail saying, oops we made a mistake we over paid you a few hundred thousand bucks over the last 30 years and we are now deducting it from your monthly pension. What's the difference?

Man that place has never been quieter, until this 7th inning hit.

Ohio, you are right. Baitholder hooks are made to keep bait from coming off the hook, not the barb at the tip.

I knew a lock was imminent after I read that post earlier and see Arts name as the last poster. Scuro if I'm not mistaken the last lock of a political thread was prompted by your personal attacks on other members and became a urination contest. You make great points man but no need to get personal. When someone gets petty and take personal shots all the good points they do make get ignored. People have so far been able to get their opinions heard here and want to hear others as well. Don't spoil it for everyone. Rick, I don't know where you are coming from, you may have missed my sarcasm about the tinfoil hat thing. I'm always interested in your point of view and agree to disagree may times. I think I have a fairly good handle on what goes on and not as naïve as those holding the strings think we are. I learned a long time ago not all we are told is no where close to the truth, especially from the 5th estate. Share brother.

Lake Kipawa - Critique My Plan of Attack
Old Ironmaker replied to Sterling's topic in General Discussion
We never even bothered fishing for Eyes during the day when we had our annual spring and fall trips. Early supper and on the water by 6PM. Day was spent fishing for Pike, golfing, hunting for wild garlic was fun or going to the Ballet in the afternoon. Just because we were a gang of Steelworkers didn't mean we weren't cultured. -
Yes Netminder I agree 100% what you say. If Trump does win Congress and the Senate will be in the hands of the Democrats and they will block every bill just because they can. The Republicans knew exactly that allowing law suits against the Saudi's would open the US government to law suits for co-lateral damage during military action, what a mess that will be. It might be the right thing to do though. You bomb my home and kill my family because you missed and I get a general apology from the State Dept? That won't re build my home or bring back my family but a few million US dollars may help. They might think twice before they pull the trigger then. TennesseGuy, Maybe that is the plan all along, to get Pence into the Oval Office.

You see Canadave. The Rosenburg's gave the Soviets secret documents that enabled them to develop an Atomic bomb? No, not really. It was actually a pencil drawn sketch without dimensions or to scale that was absolutely useless to anyone. I think you should watch yesterdays 60 Minute piece on the Rosenberg's and get back to me on that one. M2B2 has some Tinfoil hats for sale. And I am looking forward to reading it and I will definitely read with an open mind and tell you what I think. Sircranksalot, I could never cast a vote in that election with a clear conscious. If I did I'll write in Kattie Wynne, maybe they will take her, she might even be a better choice than the 2 they have.

Yea Akrinsoner, the point? We had it made? Maybe. No Health and Safety legislation until 1978, a respirator was a wet rag wrapped around your face. I cleaned the rails off the 300 ton overhead cranes with a broom 10 stories off the ground, fall arrest systems? You fell, you died, one kid did. A lock out? Not invented yet. 3rd rails were live, make sure you don't touch that, you will fry. Before that someone watched and yelled to you if a train engine was coming while you cleaned the switches. "It's unsafe you say, go home I'll get someone else to do it if you are afraid, hey guys this school boy is yeller!" Ate lunch in the change room under all the work clothes hanging on hooks 25' high on the ceilings. Remember that change house next to my fathers office Fish Farmer. It wasn't all great.

You are 100% correct Grimsby Dave, 3 hotels on that corner. I lived in that survey off of Lake in the late 80's and walked to The Day and Night for a hangover special lunch. The Scottish lady that lived across the street from us was the cook. A pound of ground beef for the meat loaf and 6 potatoes of mashed would be on the plate with brown gravy covering the plate. $3.99. I would ask her when she was making her Shepherd's pie and would make sure I ate there that day. It was the only bar I ever had real homemade Yorkshire Pudding the size of softballs.

T Bone has hit a nail squarely on it's head. How can 1 person rule the world. Canadave, that Joe McCarthy statement you made saying it has been proven he was a great American patriot has me questioning anything you may write in the future. From what I have read over the years my take is he was a delusional racist. I am going to go out and read that book though before I make any statements to the contrary about McCarthy. 60 Minutes just yesterday did a piece on the Rosenberg's. Guilty, darn right they were, but Mrs. Rosenberg's crimes did not warrant an execution that was based on fabricated testimony given during the trial. That admission of perjury came from the lips of the witness that committed the perjury, Mrs. Rosenberg's own brother whom she recruited.

If I get into one fish after another and or it's catch and release I always crimp the barbs on all my hooks. I like Charlie, better than most plus he gave me a nice hat and some line, Seagar of course.

It is sad to see all the Mom and Pop haunts bow to the shiny corporate places trying to have the vibe of the old places they tear down. If anyone lived in the east end of Hamilton skipping classes and going to the Derby House for a beer in High School was a right of passage. For one reason or another I hadn't been on Queenston for a few years after we moved out here. I'm driving by the Derby and it's a brand new Shoppers Drug Mart! Sad. There were 4 old time hotels on the corner of Queenston and Lake Ave, all gone. If some of you folks drive to Port Dover in the summer, a great old fishing villiage to visit where the tugs still fish out of. Coming from anywhere you have to travel down hwy #6 or #3 through Jarvis. Both highways cross there. A few buildings north of the corners is a hotel called Branko's. You will think you have gone back in time to the 60's. Same stale draught beer smell and they even sell pickled eggs and Horse sausages in the 1 gallon jugs. Stop in. Don't blink or you miss Jarvis. Branko's reminds me of the old Parkdale House in T.O. and The Homicide (Homeside) on Kenilworth. Luckily there are still a few left in Hamilton.

No need to run my new furnace installed last spring, it has been cold out here and it kicked on at 65F. Cold winter, bring it on.

2019-2020 Hockey Thread
Old Ironmaker replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
They will wear the same numbers but with an asterisk beside them. But you are all right there soon won't be any numbers to wear unless all double digits. Look what you started Wiener. If I remember right 99 represented the year his Oiler contract expired or it was for 99 million up to 1999. Lucas I don't know why you would want to hold off making the playoffs. Even of a team doesn't go deep into the playoffs that playoff experience is very valuable to a player no matter what sport. -
Pence is impressive to me. I would cast a vote for him without a problem over any that ran for the nomination. I have a Devil on my shoulder wanting to see what Trump would do or act as Prez. The morning news would be interesting for sure, if mourning comes. His list of things to make America great again, of which I don't think exists, will never happen because the Democrats will own the House of Representatives as well as the Senate for the next few years at least and pay back for killing most Democrats Bills in the last 8 years is a b&^tch.
