That’s the dream gig for many of us here…..
-
Went today and caught the tail end of Mike Handlebarz’ presentation on muskies. He was shanghaied into presenting as a couple that were supposed to be there didn’t make it in. I thought he did a great job. Had a great conversation with him. Solid guy. Some great deals on boats and fishing tackle. By the time the Sportsmen’s Show rolls around, things are going to be much pricier. Wasn’t busy at all.

Anybody heading over to the Fishing Show this weekend? I was planning on going Sunday morning but the snow coming this weekend has me thinking Monday morning. I haven’t seen a couple friends that are vendors that are going to be there in a while so I’m hoping to reconnect. Any OFNr’s have a booth? I need to get a new walleye/rod and maybe a musky lure or 3

Good luck!! Slay them out there!!!

I’ve fished LOTW many times in the early 2000s. The smallie, largie, pike, walleye and musky fishing opportunities were endless and I only fished the North Eastern corner of the lake. Unbelievable fishery. I could happily spend the rest of my life fishing that lake. Eagle Lake on the way up is another great fishery. Lots of others along the way. -
Having had cars with winter tires and without, this I can say, they do make a huge difference BUT if the weather is really lousy, it’s safer to stay home and not venture out unless absolutely necessary. Far too many drivers out there that haven’t a clue of how to drive in snow, ice and slushy conditions. Case in point, a couple years ago, driving back from the cottage up near Port Carling, an early snow storm hit, driving was miserable from Wahta all the way down to the 401. A lot of drivers gave up and pulled over to the side. Others were literally sliding from one side of the road to the other. Saw at least a couple dozen accidents and another dozen in the ditches lining the 400. Had I known it would have been that bad, I would have stayed up at the cottage and tossed another log in the stove…..

Nice truck. Pig on gas but ohhh so comfortable!! Change the oil every 5k. Also, do a flush with seafoam or some atf. The phasers and solenoids get plugged with sludge. Do it for the first 2-3 oil changes. Use a good oil and enjoy.

Beauty Catch!!! Coated in a bit of flour, salt and pepper and fried in bacon fat!! I’m salivating…..

I’d winterize it. Better to be safe than sorry esp if it’s an i/o. If it’s an outboard it’s not as critical because the water drains out of the motor. It is good practice to change the motor oil, gear oil and fog both an outboard and i/o.

I was out on Pigeon on the 28th for our annual tourney, only one 30” ski was caught. We got skunked. Didn’t even raise one…..

I totally agree Lew. The things they are able to do are amazing but for other things they still scratch their heads….

Nice sunrise from the front porch this morning.

Absolutely stunning Lew!! -
I lost a good friend earlier in the summer. Massive heart attack and it was over for him. He just retired 2 years ago and had a few grandkids that he absolutely adored. We never know what is going to happen tomorrow. Bill, I hope you get those clots cleared up quick. I have an aneurysm in my gut that has my vascular surgeon really concerned because if it pops, I am pretty much a goner and the surgery to repair it requires him to gut me like a fish. Live hard and enjoy every minute.

At the bare minimum a fuel filter that separates water. I had a water in the fuel issue a few years ago and it wasn’t fun. Took 3 filters after a trip to the marina to get the water out. Royal pain.

Lots of damned fools out there. Far too many have had a few too much alcohol or other substances…… You need eyes in the back of your head when boating…..

PROPOSED NEW FISHING REGLUATION ON THE GANARASA RIVER
bigbuck replied to chessy's topic in General Discussion
It has been a zoo for as long as I can remember. I remember seeing clowns gaffing fish. It needs to happen and it needs to be enforced. -
Nope. Not until he’s 18. Conservation Lic limits.

I have run the cheapest 87 octane I can get in my boat that has a 4.3 I/O. Starting Labour Day weekend, I start putting a dose of Stabil Marine. When it gets pulled out, I put a double dose of it in. I store with only a few gallons in the tank. In spring, I’ll put 10 gallons of 91 Octane along with some Seafoam. Haven’t really had a problem. The fuel filter/water separator filter gets changed every spring after the boat runs a few times. I always keep a spare on board just in case there is a problem.

Is that 777 still around?? The lid of mine was crunched last year and the rest of it has seen better days…..

My condolences on the loss of your pal. I lost my dog Roxanna back in September. 11 and a half years of my life spent with her. They truly become a part of us. Rox either came out on the boat for a little bass fishing with me or waited on the dock for my return.

How fast does a Malibu 23 LSV go?
bigbuck replied to DavidBores's topic in Fishing Tackle and Equipment
To buy the boat you are looking at over 150k For a used boat. Brand new, over 200k. Fuel is 350+ to fill the tank depending on if you fill at a gas station while traillering or if you fill at a marina. As for speed, maybe about 40mph full out. These boats are purpose built for water sports with bladders that fill with water to help with making big wakes for wakeboarding and wakesurfing. I wouldn’t use it for fishing, the interiors are pretty nice, getting fish slime all over and dirt from worms and bait would trash it pretty fast. Lots of things to damage and break as well. You can probably charge big $$$ to rent it but you would need big $$$ for security and damage deposit. They are expensive to run and own. -
Looks like someone is having fun. Enjoy, if anyone deserves it, it’s you.

Have fun!!! Again, a wonderful offer from the most generous guy on this board. Hope you hammer the fish down there.
