  1. Mine's a Remeq/Princecraft as well.
  2. I have two of Art's knives and they're really the best knives I've ever owned. Learn how to keep them sharp and put them away carefully. And this will sound selfish but don't lend your knives to anyone.
  3. I think they're all pretty good.....a lot are made by the same people. The important thing in my opinion is how the boat sits on the trailer whether it be roller or bunk supports. You'll pay a little more for a galvanized trailer but they're worth it in the long run. I also prefer a belt on the winch rather than a steel cable. One or more of the steel strands on the cable will eventually fray and break and you'll end up stabbing yourself with it every time you handle the cable. If you're short on storage for the trailer, you might want to look at swing away tongues. Another useful option is the spring loaded transom tie downs (stainless steel). Good luck in your search. Let us know hat you get.
  4. Gas really is the way to go. I've had nothing but problems with electrics. With the gas you also don't have the hassle of an extension cord following you around.
  5. Aside from the characteristic white tail tip etc... of the walleye, you'll also notice if you look at a few pictures that the walleye also has a dark splotch (is that a word?) at the back base of the first dorsal fin. Saugers don't have that "splotch". Also, you could probably never see the colour of your hand through the dorsal fins of a walleye. Then there are the random black marks on the sauger's body where the walleye's marks are usually more uniform. On the river here, there is a good mix of both but if you get into a patch of saugers, the walleye will be fewer and farther between. In areas like these, where saugers and walleye co-exist, you're likely to also run into the occasional saugeye as well but that's a horse of a different colour.
  6. A sauger is a malnourished zander in gaudy attire.
  7. That is a sauger...I don't care where it came from.
  8. I'd probably never buy one but I can see a market for folks with motor skills problems.
  9. Yeah, they're not easy to find. I use quite a lot of 6/0 and 7/0 trebles and the easy ones to find are the Mustad 3551's One of the largest selection of hooks available online are from Captain Hook's at http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/index.cfm?page=home I buy my large trebles from Luremaking.com because they are Canadian and have great service. Good luck.
  10. I don't think so Cliff. Somehow I just can't see you being a lesbian.
  11. But mine is not a guess... http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/21g-silver-paillette-slice-catfish-fish-lure-esca-kastmaster-lure-accessrios-8-5cm-Bait-sequins-with/131399_32233704001.html Mr. Champ is very similar.
  12. Kinda strange that reading through all of this, almost no one entertains the notion that a human could have caused it. Birds. other fish, and disease, but no props.
  13. 40 HP Yamaha.... a four stroke I'd say. I could be wrong.
  14. I just got word from Elisa. The Fishing For Tyler event will be cancelled for this year due to the unstable ice conditions. Hoping we get a better shot at it next year. Thanks to everyone for caring.
  15. WOOOOHOOOOO You get to buy another rod! Congrats to you and your family!
  16. Kelvin, I think that most boats, at least in the 16' category, are all quite good. The important thing as far as I'm concerned is the reputation of the dealer or the private seller. The distance away from you that the dealer is, and the layout of the boat for your needs. We don't all need the same things in a boat. I presently have a Princecraft tiller with a 60HP 4 stroke. It's perfect for me. If I can afford another boat before I turn in my chips, it'll probably be another similar boat.
  17. That's what I'd do, as long as I had a sliding window or two in the cap.
  18. Not common but there are a few who are 2' taller and 200lbs heavier than Dave. Correct me if I'm wrong Dave.
  19. There COULD also be lower water levels due to having had less snow and the lack of ice would promote more evaporation.
  20. Yeah, that sure is hilarious. Can you imagine? The nerve of some people calling you up to offer their condolences......
  21. Thank you Steve for taking the initiative to go out, testing the ice in those spots, filming it and sharing it with us. This might sound dramatic but you may even have saved a life. Thanks again, Steve.
  22. That says it all for YOU me brudder.
