  1. Its the trip of a lifetime for most of us but you seem to have quite of a few of those a year. Your daughter looks like a chip off the old block. Excellent photography I especially liked the shot of the future camping spot where you saw the moose.
  2. Enjoyied the report and the banter
  3. What a memory that's great
  4. If I was planning to cycle 2750 miles through Alaska I would bring more than bear spray.
  5. Nice to see your efforts rewarded with some fish. When is the " Chris Brock Backlakes Mapbook" coming out?
  6. Congrats on getting published. I ve never heard of FH magazine but it looks really good.
  7. Gorgeous landscapes thanks for sharing. How did you come up with the name Sahtu ? Beautiful dog.
  8. I have had very little success there too in the 4 or 5 times I have fished there (Some small bass and a 24" musky broke me off). I happened to go when the fish were active/biting. A deep diving rapala blue shad rap and a white spinner bait worked well for me, I stayed in 1 bay. Bring a couple of top water lures, lots of risers when I was there.
  9. I bought it in Rochester off Craigslist. I took the numbers off when I got home. As a side note when I got there I asked the guy for a bill of sale and the title. He gives me the bill of sale that he got when he bought the canoe last Sept. from his buddy. He never changed the title it was still in his buddy's name. So if I would have gotten a new bill of sale from him it would not have matched name on the title. So I took my chances at the border...When the border guy asked me how I paid for the canoe I said I mailed cash last sept and was unable to pick up the canoe until now. He looks at me like I'm an idiot then goes to see his supervisor. He comes back and says go pay the cashier $30.00 on I'm on my way. Lucky. The mono I had on that reel was getting low. So I put some 20lb fleuro I had lying around on over it. I liked the way it performed and used it for a week without issues. Had 2 more birds nests but eventually adjusted it and it casted fine after that.
  10. Good to hear there making a comeback. Impressive catch.
  11. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about fishing from the float tube. I am thinking about one myself. Agree that Outcast is a trusted brand. I don't go to BP as much as I used to but have not had any issues with customer service. Liking SAIL more and more, laid back atmosphere, closer to home and good prices on recent purchases- trolling motor and boat seats/ hardware. Like the bargain bins for lures too. If you need real technical expertise the big box stores are lacking. Better advice here on OFC or smaller stores like fishing world, burns, Lebanon etc.
  12. I fished The Glen area last Wed morning for a couple of hours before going to Rochester to pick up a Scanoe. Some pictures: The fishing started off well. Nothing huge but very strong fish and fun to fight in the current. I lost a larger fish and had a couple big followers. I was surprised by the number of rising fish- they were everywhere. I only had one top water plug and could not get any takers on it. This always seems to happen when the fish are biting. The funny thing was that after working out this birds nest a SM was on the end of my line. The walk up and out. 16ft. Scanoe Can't wait to go back.
  13. I've been looking for economical seats for a crawdad jon boat. Sail has a good selection of basic seats in store but I don't think they are on the website. I was at gander Mountain yesterday and the prices for the seats I was looking at were the same as sail. Lebanon's seats are on the wall up high easy to miss if your not looking for them. BP has a better selection than sail or LB and they have some good deals especially if your not picky about color. For instance they had a skid of seats for 65$ but only in grey.
  14. Nice pics. how do u lik e your canoe dolly? Always looking for feedback on them
  15. I'm going to pick up a scanoe in Rochester tomorrow and thought I would stop in and shore fish at the Glen on the way. I enjoy fishing there but have had minimal success. Last time I fished it there was an algae bloom. Does anyone have any suggestions or techniques that work well this time of year?
  16. Great picture worth ever penny when u see that I'm sure .
  17. I think there were some speck reports from Lake Superior PP on previous threads in the spring.
  18. Wished I ived up there nice SM how big?
  19. ? In by mistake on previous post typo
  20. Impressive designs? I met a guy at mountsberg last week that could have used outriggers. He fell out of his sports pal last fall. Did not capsize but fell out had to swim and tow the boat in. Said he sold the sports pal shortly thereafter.
  21. www.tumblehomelodge.ca You can stay there, camp there or book campsites through them for other parts of the lake. They may have a golf course as well. Have not stayed there but have fished the lake and others in the area.
  22. Site 204 Massassauga PP in Clear Bay may be worth considering. I have not stayed there but my son and I portaged and paddled by the site when we did a day trip loop from Clear Lake 6 years ago. Its on the Georgian Bay Side and accessible from Pete's place I assume. It is in a sheltered back bay and across from the site there is a 240m portage into Clear Lake which may provide a good fishing option if you bring a canoe. The campers there had a couple of tinnies with outboards. It is not remote- some cottages around and boat traffic as well. Below is link to some specific campsite info/ratings for site 204 and others. http://www.angelfire.com/blues2/bcaron/campsite.html www.myccr.com may also have some useful MASS PP info. 204 **** I1-11.8 Very nice site. 3 levels, Good wood supply. Soft tent pads(2 or 3). Fair swimming. Beautiful reverse sunset on quiet bay. No bugs, close to portage to Clear, very peaceful, good docking.
  23. Glad you kept the canoe it's a classic. Look forward to future reports.
  24. Mountsberg shallower max depth 7 or 8 ft, warmer water has cats, pike bass and panfish, lots of weeds spinner baits top water work well, some good size bass and pike there kelso used to have trout but mainly LM bass now, water colder so fish are smaller, deeper over 20ft in spots, some nights triatheletes use lake to train, Have not tried Guelph lake
  25. All the bass we caught last weekend were shallow. same with our group, many fish had eggs, all fish caught in shallow water
