  1. I was in Burns Fishing in Burlington last summer looking for a lure that would swim shallow and go over the top of weeds. He suggested I try the Live Target Jointed Pumpkinseed. It runs at 0-1' ft and leaves a wake. I used it 3 times last year. I caught SM bass at the Niagara Glen with it and Pike at the local reservoir. The 3rd time using it I was trolling with 2 rods and hooked up with the other rod. I left it in the water while I reeled in the other rod. When I went to reel it in there was nothing on the end of my line. There not small it must have been a decent sized fish. Should have been using a leader. I'm cheap and can't afford a tackle box full of Live Targets but its worth having a couple of them. I bought 2 today- $19.99 each.
  2. Congrats John, it looked like you and Taro enjoyed yourselves, well done.
  3. The last time I went it was at the Convention Center. Bad venue and no need to go back. I prefer the Spring Fishing Show. I buy some bargain bin lures and occasionally a rod and reel. I still go but I could probably buy the same items at Fishing World, SAIL or BPS and save myself the price of admission.
  4. Don't underestimate the material costs. Even if you do the work yourself renovating is expensive.
  5. You may consider renting for a period of time in both locations before buying. Land O Lakes has some nice lakes.
  6. Nice intro. From the way your holding that fish it looks like its not your first trophy.
  7. The city is well run and the taxes are relatively low but she is as dirty and conflicted as the rest? The stuff with the kid is the tip of the iceberg.
  8. U can check prices on line at tent city and Sierra trading post, outdoor adventure show is also coming soon and there may be some good deals there
  9. Nice haul, well done
  10. Yes agree, millions given for foreign aid and social programs for dead beats while out vets get peanuts
  11. A couple of options close to the GTA: We did a father/son group camping trip at Earl Rowe PP is near Alliston about 10yrs ago. Close by and a nice beach. There is a trailer park on Lake Bellwoodn near Fergus that has camping spots and probably trailers to rent as well. Community Pool too.
  12. Impressive report, thx for posting.
  13. You might try places with multiple cottages. The two that I have stayed at are : Bear Creek Cottages, North Bay -excellent sandy beach for the kids, Fee's Landing, Omemee -south end of Pigeon Lake we rented all the Cottages for a family reunion, no complaints but the beach was quite weedy
  14. Feel the same way here in Mississauga sometimes.

  16. My buddy brought his dog here. www.memquisitlodge.net
  17. Chris- Thx for passing that on. I was in there last week and got some terminal tackle and spoons that were on clearance. The day to day pricing and selection of the CT's in my area aren't great but they do have some good sales from time to time.
  18. Just an update for those searching in the future: Cheapest I could find in the GTA: Robert Bury in Brampton $103/sheet for 3/4 Okoume G2S 7 ply. (pick up 8am-3pm) Monaghan Lumber in Peterborough sells a marine pine ply for $71/sheet but they wanted $200 to $250 for delivery to Burlington.
  19. www.outdoorfabricscanada.com in Barrie
  20. I'm looking for marine vinyl, carpet and stainless hardware as well. I called the Tracker Boats Parts Dept. in Vaughn and they said they do not carry it. I can't find it on Cabelas.ca I have seen it on the USA sites Cabelas, Gander and BPS but it would be pick up only in 10 business days. Called a couple of canvas guys in Hamilton and Burlington but they were middle men and wanted big $. A previous poster mentioned Lens Mill. It's reasonably priced but only comes in blue, black and 1 other colour. I am calling a place in Miss tomorrow if it works out I will post the name.
  21. A different level of canoe trip. These guys really took a beating.
