  1. I dont fish bass at all but Ive got to say they're some hogs there Son! WTG....and congrats on the #10. bNb
  2. Glen, Thanks for starting this 2nd thread sorta on the same topic. I'll not apologize for my poor choice of words that were put out into the internet in response to somebody elses reply earlier. They were borne out of the lack of respect shown to a member here who has ENTERTAINED US ALL over the years. I'd rather see a pic of a fish straight from the water, dirtied or whatever knowing that is was freshly caught only to be quickly released and not overhandled and prepped for a photo. There has been many large fish Ive caught that spent too much time being brought in that simply had to be released immediately...NO TIME FOR A PIC, This is another great reason for the superBraids insert:(PowerPro), it still happens tho but, is greatly reduced. As you stated Bud....it takes alot of time and effort to post w/pics and to post as many as CC does is a big contribution to this board. I know Scott and this wont deter him from posting further....(someone reffered to his lack of real toughness...what a joke). But...someone new...may be deterred if happened to them and that is not good for us at OFC. Ive seen some here a tenth of the time Ive been here, with twice as many posts as me (and more)...but wheres the pics and or contribution. This board is great for many reasons and one of them is the mods for allowing a wide variety of topics and we have now become a community.......Most of us are great friends. Keep up the good work Scott. Glen, thanks for starting this thread. bNb Its getting tiring listening to some folk complaining about CC's caps. Get over it will Ya's. We did along time ago.
  3. Dont forget these babies either. Also, This past winter on the BOQ saw many more hits on all Gold, Pink or Orange w/a lil red on the belly. bNb
  4. Sebastian.....Floatfisher................Steelheader None of you must be steelhead fishermen.. If you were you'd know full well that bringing chrome out of the water to the river bank in the early spring will muddy the fish. Any of you try to bring in a nice chrome after a rainy day either...same freaking thing.. 's Oh...excuse me... You most likely wipe down the fish and then prepare it for its photo session...... Ive enjoyed many years of Scotts reports as others have and also fished along side of him and he is the ultimate river pro.....BAR NONE! bNb
  5. Phil... Wayne............ Sorry fellas.........Ill uncover the beast when it awakes. J/K I'm on dial up and its ridiculous to upload/download anything.......... I tried at the office yesterday but couldnt get the hookup to the camera but ... Nevermind..Charmaine just said she has it on the desktop and will do it for me tommorry Be good fellas........... pete
  6. Art.... Hey bud! I/We'll not be making lakair this year i dont think man. Besides checking out all the bellsNwhistles and the new boat in general.... Ive got to complete the roof on my workshopNoffice............ put a subfloor in the office and full electric..then drywall/tape/mud/paint/carpet etc......... After that Im putting on an addition to the new house...aprox 900sq/ft. It involves ripping into the exististing roof..... it'll be a busy year to say the least......... Today i booked a slip at BayMarine in bellville on the BayOQuinte..... Hydro/FillingStationNwashdown ..for the season This way when Im ready and have the time we'll just skip down there ...hop in the boat and off we go. The slip is right on the Bay. Next year we'll be ready for Lakair. I read with dillegence all youve sent and it s great. The antenna thing puzzeled me a little. A member here also sent me a website that shows exactly what you said......... basically.....most use only 1/10 of their possibilities..... I'll spend the money for wht I want..but I want to use all of it Art.....It'll wait to lakair '09 for your private tutoring... but in the mean time Ill learn as much as I can. ThankYou my friend. All else who have replied I have equally taken in all of them and got to tell ya's the info is invaluable. I hope someone else is reading these posts and might be gaining some knowledge with all this as it's exactly how i learned. Someones elses posting can be the ticket to your own questions... This is part of this board and what makes it a little better then anywhere else. Thanks for your patience folks. bNb
  7. Thank y'all for some very exellent info. Art....I'll deff. be going dual cone coverage T-Y much... Going to try and maintain as high a wattage as possible. Have been pricing units just about everywhere and came up with fairly decent deals on diff units at diff locations. I hadnt even thought of RadioWorld...Lew....I checked their website and most prices Ive been given were better there...T-Y I ndo have another thought with no answer for.... Internal...Builtin....External Antennas..? Is there one better then another..or just diff. scenario of use. Thanks again all.. bNb
  8. I really appreciated that info Bob.... Pretty clear to me. Thanks again...........If you dont mind ..any chance you can take the time and perhaps drop me a PM and let me know what you paid for that unit and where you got it from. peter BTW...I totally agree with you as far as lowarnce is concerned... Only thing...Garmin an Huminbird have put out some nice /pretty units lately that'll catch anyones eye and interest. I'm leaning Lowrance as it is.
  9. Thanks Wayne......... We cant get high speed at all here. Appreciated that Bud!
  10. Ive narrowed my search down to a few but are still open to some possibilities so I think Ive garnered enough info thus far. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. This is what my choices are and i'd appreciate your thoughts if any experience with. Or.........Perhaps what to stay away from........ Humminbird 787c2i sonar/GPS+WAAS/Chartplotter combo Lowrance LMS-527c dual frequancy w/ external antenna but same as above else wise. Lowrance-520c but in 12 channel as opposed to 16 but same as above. There is only a diff of about $70 between them all. Price is not my concern in this range. Just looking for the best between what Ive chosen here from anyones experience with. My thanks in advance. bNb
  11. Full agreement with all that what said above.
  12. Congratulations there young'N It'll be a summer you'll remember for the rest of your life. I hope it is successful for you and that it become, All you hope it to be. Be careful out there. bNb
  13. Gary, Im in the same position as you at the moment and deff., cannot afford to have RevCan anywhere near me for any sort of fraud. I registered and plated my trailer..(taxes on $2500) Thats it so far....... From what Ive been told by my seller: Have the boat registration transferred to my name..NO COST. This is all I understood to take place... If taxes are to be paid on the boat then...I'll make them at the (1bill of saLE)..purchase price...when asked for it. Anything happens that requires insurance involvement I wil make sure I get the full coverage Im paying for. I like where I am with this..Paid $15k..Insured @ replacement $58k Want to have all my ducks in a row for this...and therefore.. ALL TAXES PAID.
  14. I dont fish bass Gary.but Ive enjoyed reading your posts since you've been down south with envy. Have a safe trip home.....its starting to warm up here enough that the snow is starting to melt Thanks for all the reads. bNb
  15. I think everyone is missing out on something.... To me that doesnt look at all like an Inuit, Nunavit or Mongolian little fella... More like an Inuit, Nunavik or Mongolian little girl. Check out the hairline! Makes sense to me.... When my wife is ugly mad towards me and/or the kids she GRABS US BY THE EYES! I have noticed that my daughters are slowly picking up the same nasty habit.
  16. I've got to agree with solopaddler here on this one. if where you're living now the property will have more equity come 2 yrs from now then it makes sense to stay provided it is an area you feel happy with. 2 yrs will go by in a blink. A 40 min drive you wont even notice especially where your located....if you decide otherwise......Done IT!...North SK(including the winter months...lol.) As a bricklayer...most of my work was in the Vaughan area easily 40min North/West 1 way and I lived in Pickering........ We moved about a year an half go a further 140km East........I still commuted to Vaughan daily.... The drive took me 1 hour an 45 min/1 way each day.........Id leave at 5am daily....and get back home around 7pm. It changes your lifestyle completely......... I didnt mind so much as I knew it to be a short lived inconveinience....about 10 months. Now my home is where ive always wanted to be...on the water.......and I know longer have to go to work. The time goes by quickly.....It all came down to where we wanted to live come retirement......
  17. cant add very much but try this: www.pigeonlakeresort.com I cannot remember the owners names at all but they are very friendly and most of all very 'CLEAR' when they give you information or advice. They have lodges...dont know if tents are allowed. :rental boats :slips :lots of green grass areas and what looked like a beach....it was the 2nd week of Novemeber/05 when i was last there and snow was on the ground so???? good Luck in your quest.............. Stoney lake has some decent lodges w/beaches..... again I cant remember much but, We rented for a thanksghiving weekend with all the kids.......... 4 sons and 2 daughters.they were 10-19yrs old at the time.. This place came inclusive: Rental fishing boats...paddle boats/canoes/bouyed off swimming area/horseshoe pits and an outdoor fire pit.
  18. You know what members..... We could be faster then the coppers on this. Look how far spread we are plus we are all always on the lookout for exellent deals.. If its not gone south or to europe I bet we have enough members to cover every part of Onatrio. Can a 'Observation' type thing be put in place at the Ont/Que border? Anyone know?..........Manitoba as well?
  19. I got Quinte area covered for ya Terry. There are tons of ATV's and the like (used), always for sale out here. Like Wayne, Ive printed off a few cpies to distribute. Its no problem at all...everything is very close to me. dude's.........Wish you luck man. bNb
  20. Drew, You an Brenda have done it again.......... Both myself and my wife are in awe...absolute! I dont know what to say about the pike except awesome..the trip/Awesome. Curious on the size of that perch......... It looked far bigger then anything Ive witnessed being pulled out before. To all those that dont watch fishing shows because you may never fish there.......... Thats crap.........think you'll ever fish here? What a wonderful/entertaining/successful/exhilarating trip and post. Drew...I'd surely like to know what kind of camera you have bud. The pics are very clear and detailed. You've certainly pt a new twist in your writing thats very entertaining too but I dont think it neccessary because the entire outing for you 2 spoke volumes on its own. Man, Can barely wait for your next report....WTG Take care you two. report when you can peter (barely touched a carrot whilst reading this but the beer is finished)
  21. Havent read it just yet Bud but, Just ran over to the fridge and grabbed some baby carrots and sour cream A good 12" plate worth...as well a beer... Now Im ready to sit back and read your post............... Cant wait.
  22. NOPE Just a quick pat on my reel for hanging tough and, another to the rod for standing up like a man for the task at hand.
  23. Hope this helps........... Dave Mercer's FactOFishing has what he thinks should be used........ he's not too far off in my eyes... Cant remember at the moment....but for Up to a certain line diameter...is for spinning reels...and anything larger is for braided lines. I only used this as a guide and anything else from experience or sound advice from bud's I fished with. Presently... 3 large baitcasters with #80 P.P........w/#100 seaguar leader 2 large baitcasters with #100 P.P......w/#130 seaguar leader....(Thanks Lew/Raf/MuskyBill/J.P) LineCounters: Riggers- #17 mono/Trilene XT or XL PlanerBds- #10 mono/Trilene XT or XL flatlining- #17 mono/Trilene XT or XL Jigging #8 mono.Trilene XT Others have given you sound advice as for getting rid of line twist when in a boat and it works. Also the mention of running under warmish/hot water works well when first spooling. My choice would be braided for everything but there are certain presantations that MONO is a must have. $0.02 Hope it helps.. bNb
  24. Thats one very happy camper there Bud! The smile is a..... M I L E W I D E..! WTG...........Its great when they're that age....... Problem...when they start to loose interst (as they got older) it hurt and it puzzled me big time... It was truly painful.....Funny thing tho..... Seems once they got over the teenage years....they just sorta came back to it. Well, ..some it took til the age of 23 or so. Anyhoo Bud........looked like a great day our with Dad and the lads...WTG Take care and Dang man.........we'll speak soon. Looking forward to it. pete
