i have side imaging on my humminbird, it is really useless. i can see bumps that show boulders when i'm over reefs but when i look for objects, like trees and stumps, nothing shows up . to me, it is just another gimmick.

Well, it's official, the signs went up today NF

I know exactly where you are coming from. the wife is adamant that we move from our house on the lake (we built it 25 years ago) and have enjoyed the lake life for so long, it is really tough to move away, but we hit the magic age of 70 and it is so much work to take care of the house and property we aren't able to do it and it would need someone younger to do it justice. So this summer I will get my boys out to help clean out the basement and go thru my stuff and pick out what they want then try and put it on the market. If this is the golden years, they sure are a crappy colour. sure going to hate moving to an apartment and having neighbours so close, but happy wife, happy life (I guess) -
the double hull on the alumacraft was a big selling point for me when I bought my boat in 2001 I got the 185 trophy alumacraft with a 150 and it is a very stable boat in big water. I don't know if lund has the double hull.

that Is really cool, that would be really great on smaller lakes up here.

so the wife asked, what do these things do, I didn't know, maybe you southern Ontario guys who deal with them can give us some info.

I was just in town at the local marina and noticed a sign on the door . the mnr has just sent out notices of an invasive species found and confirmed in the red lake area waters. I didn't have my cheater glasses but the fellow behind the counter said it was the spiney water flea that has been found.

just read the article on the cbc news web site, sure was a weird looking pike but where there is one there may be another or another pile of them guess the spot where that one was caught will be the next hot spot for that lake.

my son was busted for no life preservers in the boat but everyone had a floatation seat cushion. the ticket was about 500 bucks and he wants to fight it, I have looked for the legislation to read on the internet on several sites but I keep getting referred to another site , and it refers me to somewhere else, does anyone know where to find the information or have first hand knowledge of the law. I'm just curious as I told him to pay the ticket and use it as a learning experience , but you know kids, will he listen, your guess is as good as mine. if you can provide any help it would be appreciated.

have a good trip Connie, hope you leave a few for the other fellows. be safe out there..

I know a few people live in ear falls and work in red lake just because the rents are so much cheaper, the rent is red lake is in the 12 to 18 hundred bucks a month range just because it is booming. every day there are convoys of vehicles heading up and down the highway for work. fishing is wonderful in this area and hunting is excellent. as well both ear falls and red lake have golf courses, never played ear falls but the 18 hole course in red lake is a beauty. red lake has the hospital for the area and ear falls has a medical clinic and ambulance base. sure ear falls is a small town but life is pretty damn good up here. no hustle, no bustle. no lines to stand in when going out to eat . and ear falls has a junior a minor hockey team to support. there are worse places to live.

I had the same problem with mine the second year I had it. I was kinda pissed that it quit being as I had only used it 1 season, so one day I looked on top the motor and there was this learn button, had no idea what it was for, so I pushed it and the spot lock started working. don't know if it was the problem but I was happy it started working again and it has worked properly ever since, I'm now into the 4th season with it.

it may not be the most expensive, but the one I will remember until the day I die is a lure called the pflugeur limper. when I was a kid growing up I had heard that this was the best for catching pickerel and I wanted one. so I got a job, saved up and bought one. then my dad took me fishing on the nith striver outside paris. sure enough he spots my prize lure in my little tackle box and wants to try it out. so what could I say, sure go ahead. he ties it on his line, winds up and casts his line. the only problem was his line never made it to the water, he got it snagged high in a tree on the shore and to this day, my lure is still hanging on that branch

i get charged this travel fee in Kenora and Winnipeg, in kenora they use the money to promote the town and tourism. in fact they sponsor a weekend concert series with big name talent with the money collected, don't know what happens to it in winnipeg

i have a terrova with the I pilot and use the spot lock all the time. just love it . it doesn't hold you completely in the same spot but I would say it keeps you in a 20 foot radius of where you set it. seem to triangulate and if you watch your gps, the display should show you how you move about. I just love it and if you can adapt it to your motor, go for it.

number 12 gets my vote, but then again I have a kind of sick sense of humour (at least according to my wife)

a buddy of mine from Calgary just emailed me asking if I knew anything about this law for trailering boats in Ontario, that is supposed to be similar to the new law in Minnesota. the new law in Minnesota requires anyone who is pulling a trailer , of any kind, needs a tag on it and according to posts on another fishing website, it applies to float planes that can land on any lake in Minnesota too, this is new to me, but just wondering if anyone on this board has heard rumblings of an Ontario law to this effect?

love it , going to share it with guys at our detachment

just wondering as I thought I heard a montreal crowd cheering and chanting for a Domi

my wife loves to fish, just not first thing in the morning, or when it's rough.

years ago the mnr did a creel survey on the lake I live on and came to the conclusion that it was being fished 600% more than it could sustain. there are maybe 10 private residences on it, with 5 of them being fulltime residences. there are also 5 tourist resorts on the lake. add to this the fact the lake is accessible by locals by travelling down stream from Red Lake into it. the fishing was going down hill but the camp owners, to their credit, came up with the rule for all to follow (voluntarily). that no fish over the legal size limit would be allowed in their camps and no fish over the size limit that was allowed in the regulations would be allowed, the local private residents for the most part, follow this as do the summer residents that have cabins on the lake. today the lake is teaming with walleye and it is not unusual for a boat of 4 from a tourist camp to catch over 50 walleye a day and still take home their limit ( most take the conservation licence). while I'm on the lake I see more and more people taking pictures of the fish and releasing them. it all helps the lake survive and provide for future generations

gave our road the first scrapping of the year with my quad this morning, then we tried to get the new (to us) snow plow truck going, ended up putting a tarp over the engine compartment and putting my little buddy heater under the engine to warm it up . once we got it started, we had a rough time getting it into reverse, so I guess once we give it a going over in the garage and get the snow plow out of the box of the truck and installed we would be ready for the really heavy snow .
