  1. Well that's a big body of water! We decided to launch out of Belle River based on Lew's advice. If you read my other post I was fishing for St Clair musky for the first time, and trying to get a friend his first ever. Looked at a map and saw a shallow point stretching out not too far from the launch so we decided to try over there. Never having been there, I decided to troll over to see if we could find any structure...not really. Now I like to troll fast. I tied on a shallow raider in firetiger flavour for my buddy and started to troll at a healthy pace (6.5 to 7 mph). Couldn't have been in the water 15 seconds when the rod buckles (it will do that at 6.5 mph!). What a start to the day. Just a little guy at around 32 inches but when its your first its a giant! We eventually found a weedy hump, and my buddy found out what a real musky looks like! Nailed this 46 incher and he was shaking the rest of the day I finally got in on the action with a 36 and a 44 (or so) that we lost at boatside. Had one more rip that didn't hook up. We have a new musky addict in the fold!
  2. ...oh and remember, one of those waypoints is actually a rock, not a musky location. I'm too electronically challenged to label them. Hope you don't find that one (its on Head Lake in case you forgot)
  3. hahah I see your luck is as good as mine! Maybe you need a bigger bait. Glad to see you are getting out at least
  4. yes going to troll. Taking a guy out who has never caught a musky, and is a little tender because he just had his large intestine removed a couple weeks ago. Figured go for a nice boat ride and if I can get him his first musky it would make his day.
  5. thanks lew. one vote for belle river means as it stands now I'll head in that direction. Pain in the butt to learn new water, especially one that big, but will be satisfying if I can can find one willing combatant. The boat is full of gas so I'm ready to put on a few kms!
  6. fantastic day! Congrats on your first she's a beauty looking fish. The next one won't take as long
  7. just hope you don't find any pike in there
  8. Finally going to try St Clair for musky tomorrow, but don't have a clue where to start. Was either going to launch somewhere at the mouth of belle river or somewhere at the mouth of the thames. Then I was going to drive around randomly hoping to fluke into a fish! If someone wants to offer up a good place to launch or any other info it would be appreciated.
  9. hahaha Jimmy Buffett. Congrats on the success
  10. wow what a gorgeous fish! very nice Lew
  11. uh oh....the creek is about 20 feet wide and consistent depth all across.
  12. So I tossed the minnow trap with some bread into a local creek that I know is loaded with chubs and golden shiners. No luck. Fish swimming all around but nobody went in. What to put in there to entice a few of them?
  13. gorgeous fish! Probably the best looking fish I ever caught was a similar sized tiger. Was out fishing with Aaron (CoolB) if anyone remembers him. Which lake did you get the tiger on?
  14. awesome report! Thanks for sharing. That 47 looks like a real beauty, nice thick fish
  15. I once hit someone in the face with a sucker. There is nothing more insulting than being slapped with a coarse fish.
  16. that is nuts. Most I ever paid was $25...and I never went there again. 45 is a crime and they will see their day business disappear...perhaps they want this? Are they the only launch on the lake? Maybe they are trying to discourage day use so that the people who drop the big $ on cottage rentals etc have a more enjoyable atmosphere....not so many boats and fisherman buzzing around.
  17. used to go there every year when I was a kid. Pike ,bass, pickerel in both east lake and west lake. Which lake do you plan to target?
  18. great! No more buying line for me, I can just tie together all the discarded fragments...ahh its good to be dutch.
  19. NICE!!! Way to rub it in.
  20. how do you like that dock at the launch? Was there last week...nearly flipped me right into the water!
  21. NUTS! Gotta work tomorrow. Good luck wherever you end up
  22. quote - "caught" a catfish by the loop of mono he had trailing out his butt hole man that is weird. I also had a friend catch a dead body...wonder if its the same friend as the person mentioned above...my buddies name was Mark
  23. Back in the 90's a buddy and I went to a Halloween party as Hank and Italo. Although the ladies in attendance had no idea who we were, I did snag myself a date that night
