  1. How do you know this? It's kind of up the air as near as I can tell and the oil companies are the ones who will ultimately decide aren't they?
  2. It looks like we're going to have to deal with even more ethanol in our fuels now that the Ontario government has mandated 10% average ethanol content in gasoline. The current 5% and the new 10% are the average content across all blends so unless they can put 15% in the regular or something, we're likely going to see some ethanol in the premium blends. Currently regular has up to 10% which allows them to keep the premium ethanol free but most cars can't handle any more than 10% so it's hard to say what the fuel companies are going to do to achieve the new averages. At any rate, this is not good news for boaters & small engine users.... https://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/industry-news/energy-and-resources/ontario-to-double-gasolines-ethanol-content-requirement/article37145115/
  3. I think we have problem with trash pandas in Norfolk County..... Neighbours kitty cat was in the wrong place at the wrong time.....it was NOT amused!
  4. It sure seems to be based on my time there...I think Miami Vice has thrown in the towel.
  5. Just leaving Homestead Miami speedway and it was a great race as were the xfinity and truck races Friday and Saturday. Grandstands were pretty well full today and the energy of the fans was amazing as the race wound down.
  6. Spending some time in Miami Beach and just had to share:
  7. How does ethanol free gas undergo 'phase separation' anyway? Unless there is ethanol in the fuel, there are no phases to separate (at least according to the scientific community anyway). The stabilizers may do more than just prevent phase separation but if you're running ethanol free gas the benefits may not be as much many folks believe (although better radio reception would be very nice at times...)
  8. On Six Nations, you still need a gas card to get the full tax break but they also sell gas perfectly legally to 'non-natives' with only partial taxes. I'm not sure which one they're not charging now, there are so many to choose from but I think it's one of the federal taxes. The fuel isn't coloured and you save around 10-13 cents/litre typically. The pumps even have different buttons for 'Native' & 'Non-Native' prices. As far as the smokes go, you can buy them but technically you're not supposed to take them off the territory since the federal excise tax isn't paid. The yellow band on the overwrap shows whether the tax is paid or not and if it's not there, they have been ticketing some people.
  9. The gasoline sold at the pumps on the reservation (at least on Six Nations anyway) is not coloured, some of the diesel is but the gasoline is fine. The smokes are another story.....
  10. If you can get one of the throw-away flexible spouts they give you on the DEF fluid jugs they screw right on the 4L anti-freeze jugs and work great for this purpose.
  11. He went missing last Tuesday. They recovered his body on Friday, very sad: https://www.thespec.com/news-story/7772222-police-locate-body-of-missing-grimsby-man/
  12. If you can't find one you can buy a download version for 13 bucks. I've bought a few manuals for various toys from this site and they are the actual OEM shop service manual you can save on your 'puter. https://www.readmanual.com/outboard.motors/johnson.evinrude/1993.Johnson.Evinrude.ET.90.LV.Service.Manual.PN.508287.htm
  13. Some interesting facts and figures on declining truck accident rates in the province: http://www.lfpress.com/2017/11/03/opp-boss-blames-truckers-for-401-havoc-official-statistics-suggest-otherwise
  14. It's may not be recommended but I've spliced cables with no issues. It's not really magic wire but if you're going to splice it, it needs to be done properly. Lots of how-to videos if you google it including this one which is pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuNCYPMdT28
  15. Driftwood Cove Resort is nice and has a marina, cottages, restaurant and all right on site....only open til mid-October though I think. http://driftwoodcove.com/
  16. From the linked article: More of the same crap, people that don't care about the rules are never gonna care. I do find it ironic though that the punishment for fishing without a license is a two year license suspension....that'll show 'em!
  17. Lots of replies which are all technically correct but Raycaster clearly stated he wants to mount his current tires on the new rims so the new tire size is really not the question. He is not planning to mismatch or run the lower profile tires. Both sets of tires are the same diameter (16") and same width (225 mm) so assuming the wheel offset and bolt pattern are the same the rims should be fine. The 55 vs 65 aspect ratio has no bearing on it.
  18. I've done quite well sending a list to the vendors and getting competitive quotes just like the contractors do. Make a clear list of all the materials you need and send it to all of them for pricing. Ask for a lump sum price on the whole lot but also ask for unit costs on each item just for reference (tell them you intend to buy the whole package though, they don't often appreciate 'cherry picking' only the best items). Most of the time you will get far better pricing than walking in off the street. Also, before you order, make sure the unit costs they provided will also apply for any additional material you may require. I saved almost 25% off the list prices when I bought all the fibre-cement siding and trim for my shop and shed a couple of years ago and they gave me free delivery to boot.
  19. x2, still crossing my fingers at 100,000 km; knock twice....
  20. Link to an old thread that had some discussions and links: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84585&hl=bank
  21. Well those numbers are more than a bit off..not sure where they came from. According to the Lake Erie Committee of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, the 2016 total walleye harvest for the lake was 3.078 million walleye of which 1.090 miliion were taken by anglers (so lets call it 1/3 for argurements sake). This percentage is considerably lower than many recent years where the sport harvest was over 50% of the total harvest for Lake Erie. You can find more numbers than you can possibly crunch and read all the explanations about where they come from in the 2017 Lake Erie Reports here: http://www.glfc.org/lake-erie-committee.php
  22. Stop in at Old Cut Marina, they will have some bait for you and point you to a channel where the kids can fish without upsetting anyone. They are on Rogers Ave off of Old Cut Blvd which is the last road on your left before you get to the park (there's lots of signs). There's lots of places to fish along all the channels but it's best to check first since many people don't like anyone fishing around their boats or private property.
  23. Like all fishing tackle, the vendors don't need the green worms to catch fish they need them to catch fishermen...
  24. You can use a product called 'Worm Glo' to make your own, it takes a couple of weeks though to get the full colour. The 'pre-greened' ones are usually a doller more than regular worms at most bait shops. I made a bunch a few years ago and fished them side by side with regular worms. Walleye don't seem to care which ones they eat as near as I could tell but they do look pretty neat though. http://www.basspro.com/shop/en/sure-life-labs-worm-glo https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1711/1637/products/[email protected]?v=1484772336
  25. Some of the things I see people doing on that road tend to make me think that the drivers may need re-engineering more than the roadway....
