  1. I cut my grass yesterday....quite the country we have here!
  2. I put one on and tried it this weekend in the Detroit River. It definitely seems to run slower and use less battery power than the motor did in similar conditions last year. I think I will do a more scientific test with a clamp on ammeter in some smooth water and see how the loads compare between the two props but it sure seems a lot more efficient to me.
  3. Great, stuff! That boat has seen a lot of fish and I'm sure you'll enjoy putting a lot more in it! I put the first few fish in my new boat this weekend too down in Detroit but none of them were very photo-worthy. Very poor fishing Friday & Saturday on the Canadian side of the river from Lasalle all the way up to St. Clair but there lots of smallish eater sized walleye being caught on the US side up at the mouth of Lake St. Clair so we joined the pack and put a few in the cooler.
  4. One way to find the screws buried in the carpet is with a continuity tester. Ground one lead and poke through the carpet with the other lead, When the tester beeps you've hit metal. Not high tech but it help find them sometimes.
  5. I always found their prices to be very competitive, at least for the stuff I buy anyway.
  6. I grabbed the same ones for a quad trip and I've been using them for everything now for 4 years....nothing fancy but work great for the money.
  7. According to Sportsclubstats.com, the Leafs have a 98.2% chance of making the playoffs. Even if they go 0-4 they still have a 55.1% shot at it and one more point boosts the odds to 73.7%. I'm not a huge believer in stats but this site is kind of cool and it is looking pretty good at the moment even with the tough schedule they face in the last 4. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Eastern/Atlantic/Toronto.html
  8. NHL announced they will not be at the Winter Olympics.....bummer.
  9. The OP (FishFinder17) and I made a deal on my 2003 Princecraft Pro Series 174 with a 2004 115 Optimax and 4 HP Merc 4 stroke kicker. We sea trialed the boat last week in Hamilton and closed the deal. He is now in the market for a bunch of accessories to re-equip it since I transferred a lot of the gear from it onto my new ride but even with all the required additions he should be right around his original budget. I'll leave it at that and if he wants to fill in the details that's fine but I'll leave it up to him. Have fun with the new ride!
  10. It works now but it's obviously an April fools prank.... 'By Daniel Merrinho', 'Koffen-Phevre strain of the flu virus', and a number of other tidbits are kind of a give away.....
  11. Thanks, much appreciated.
  12. Anyone know for certain if the Hamilton Bayfront park launch is open? Just want to sea test a boat this week and it would be a handy spot... Thanks in advance
  13. Check out the Nipissing Musky website. Danny has some articles and blogs which may help get a better understanding of the scene: http://www.nipissingmuskies.com/?cat=18&paged=3
  14. Exactly, especially when there's a curve at the bottom! This doesn't sound like a job for the faint of heart.
  15. Okay then but do the US conversion before you leave....and make sure they have them in Canada, they don't show up on the Cabelas.ca site.
  16. US $ + shipping..... total to $190.94 US or about $260 canadian bones.
  17. Just watching the Babcock post game interview and it sounds like they just messed up and forgot to put a guy in. He took the blame for the whole thing but promised Leafs Nation that it will never happen again. https://www.nhl.com/mapleleafs/video/mike-babcock-32217/t-277437436/c-50657303
  18. I didn't realize you had the option of not putting a guy in the box, I always thought it was mandatory....learn something new every day. Who'd have thought they would go 7 minutes whistle free though?? The Jackets did make a couple of really heads up plays on the icing non-calls though to extend it as long as they did.
  19. x2 on these units. They have the Pro Mariner 20A 3 bank on Amazon.ca for under 200 bucks, great deal. These will automatically distribute the whole 20A capacity to whatever battery needs it most. I use my trolling motor hard and long and the batteries are always back to 100% overnight even if I run them right flat. I leave them in the boat and plugged in all winter with no issues whatsoever. https://www.amazon.ca/Pro-Mariner-ProSport-Generation-Battery/dp/B00F5EBS66/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1490275807&sr=8-3&keywords=3+bank+battery+charger
  20. A lot of boat deals are made conditional on 'an acceptable sea trial' once the ice is gone. That way the deal is done and everybody is happy presuming there are not major issues during the test.
  21. Out of at least 2 dozen packages I had sent from the US this winter by USPS, only one was dinged for taxes and duty (it was an $800 order). The others were somewhat less but all were well over $50 and none were picked up by customs. Even the one I paid the tax and duty on was still far cheaper than I could get the stuff here even considering the exchange and shipping. I would prefer to shop local too I guess but if I can't find what I want without going to 3 different stores and then have to pay a higher price I think I'll continue to shop on-line.
  22. Transducers have a lifespan, it may be time for a new one. The Lowrance ones especially need to be replaced every 3 years or so if you use them a lot. It's kind of like getting a new pair of glasses; you don't realize how bad your old ones were until you put on the new ones.

  24. Lance Valentine has a very detailed instructional video....it's a bit long but very in depth. It is kind of based on Lowrance equipment but the same principles apply to all makes. Probably not the best for a beginner but youtube has lots of those. The sonar interpretation video can be rented or purchased at: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/lvsi
