  1. You are correct that Brantford is not #1 Canada any more but the stats quoted in this article are insurance rates not theft data. The article does state however that "According to Statistics Canada data, the Hamilton and Brantford census metropolitan areas have the two highest rates of motor vehicle theft in Ontario". There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of current data around but I did find this one from 2010 where Brantford is listed as #5 in and Hamilton #19 in thefts per capita in Canada. They may not be #1 in Canada but they are 1 & 2 in Ontario and both border on a common territory in between (just sayin'). Yes these are 2010 stats, I get that, but safe to say that the Hamilton/Brantford area is a hotbed of auto theft and I'm sure current stats would bear that out if we could find them. http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/auto-theft/
  2. Blaming Law Enforcement for auto thefts is like blaming your doctor when you have a heart attack.....
  3. This article is a bit dated but the sad situation hasn't improved any since it was written, Brantford is still the auto theft capital of Canada: http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/2010/07/24/behind-auto-theft-numbers
  4. The blue 'scotch lock' connectors should be the first thing to toss in the trash, they are easy to install but invariably end up with corrosion issues in a very short period of time.
  5. I just updated to the latest Shaw HD box & new TV and the picture is from night and day from the old one... there shouldn't be any difference between Bell & Rogers if they're comparable equipment.
  6. Some places are like that but I know other people in the area that have Shaw with good service....they could have done a DIY install though but I don't think so.
  7. I cannot understand how you could not get Shaw signal where you are. The dish points S-W which is over the lake so unless you have a tree directly between where your dish is and the satellite you should get a perfect signal. Maybe its just a matter of where your dish is located, the shaw dish would need to point about 20 degrees further West than your bell dish does I believe. Also, I would be wary of the x-plorenet deal, it really does not work very well from the people I know who have tried it.
  8. No worries...happens to the best of us.
  9. Ya i get it but the previous post was about drone flying rules in general so I thought this was relevant....maybe not.
  10. And there's the unwritten rule that was explained to a neighbour who thought fly by's over my property were perfectly legal:

  12. I don't have any particular brand loyalty but we just got rid of our 2003 Toyota Camry and a 2007 Honda Odyssey which combined had over a million KM on them (375,000 km on the camry and 400,000 miles on the honda). Neither one of them had any major repairs just routine maintenance (and timing belts of course). I guess I can't complain about that.
  13. I don't really think it should have been a big surprise; with the GM meeting with a handful of the players behind closed doors last week and some of the comments coming from them, I think the handwriting was on the wall.
  14. I second OI's recommendation for this place but it's call Great Northern Battery Systems now (actually it hasn't been ACME since 1996 but who's counting). I replaced all the batteries in my old boat last year and just got all new ones for my new to me boat from them as well. 15. Thanks for that, very interesting. I see that C&R rule is not based on the Ontrario fishing regs but on the Endanged Species Act which is why it's a little different. I couldn't figure out why Aurora Trout never showed up anywhere in the zone 10 regs but reading the article it is now clear.
  16. I don't think it's open to interpretation or messed up and the rule in question was already quoted above by gaspumper.....it's on the top right hand corner of Page 7 of the Regs: I don't know how it could be much clearer. The musky limits generally are S-1 C-0 so you may catch and retain 1 fish with a sports licence and you may catch but not retain any if you have a C. Anyway, if you're really that concerned about this, just buy the sportfishing license and be done with it.
  17. Why would you be ticketed anyway for doing something perfectly legal? You ARE allow to fish C&R for species with a zero limit....The musky limits are S-1 & C-0 in most areas so you're not doing anything wrong in the first place...
  18. What FMZ is that in? Just want to check it out for reference as it is very unusual. The only thing I can see is in Zones 11 &12 exceptions where is says: Aurora Trout open from Aug. 1 - Oct. 15, 2017, S - 1 and C - 0; fish sanctuary remainder of the year in 2017 There is no mention of stopping fishing after reaching your daily limit of 1 (or 0) that I can find.
  19. There is a specific section in orange on the top of page 9 of the regs that spells out the requirements for culling certain species; musky is not one of them. Yes you can keep fishing C&R even if you have your limit of dead fish.
  20. The AAV's are legal in Ontario but only in certain conditions, basically when doing reno's where proper venting is impossible. I also inquired today into the Oatey 'Saddle Tees' mentioned above since they look pretty decent. I was told by the inspector that in situations where you couldn't install a proper fitting that these would 'likely' be accepted but only to tie into a vertical drain or stack. Any horizontal tie in has to be done with a lateral (Y fitting) which these are not. Anyway, a fernco above and below the new fitting on a stack is acceptable which may be the simplest solution if there is no give in the pipe. Cutting the pipe short and half seating a new fitting above and below is not legal or recommended.
  21. Oh the memories.....or was it the mammaries?
  22. Not to split hairs as it's kind of off topic but as you say, a CO can enter a building without a warrant but NOT your dwelling. This is a common misconception that they would like you to believe but it's simply not true. It is covered in Section 90 of the Fish and Wildlife Act which states:
  23. I take mine off too. It may be okay on but I don't need anything jambing up the steering on the main at 50 mph....they unhook in seconds so I don't take the chance.
