  1. Yes, I had 3 of them which are now Phrohibs. More sadly, I bought the Ruger to replace my 715T after they arbitrarily outlawed the previously legal magazines for them too....it really is silly. The RCMP has full authority to make amendments to the regulations under the Firearms Act without answering to anyone.
  2. I guess the CFO couldn't decide either so they've deemed it a Prohib because of the bullpup design.....kind of makes the argument moot,
  3. True but it's not a bow either since it has no limbs or string.... We need to be very careful not to let logic enter into the Firearms act or the regulations made by the RCMP under it.....
  4. I just posted a link to an article.....it's up to the readers to draw their own conclusions.
  5. Found this post on OOD:
  6. An interesting article on the phase out of coal in Ontario and what it has accomplished: http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/2017/01/17/shutdown-of-coal-plants-raised-electricity-rates-failed-to-reduce-pollution-report
  7. Holiday in the US today....MLK day.
  8. I thought Phaneuf would turn the team around.....
  9. Didn't the Quebec Nordiques go bankrupt (or almost at least) before they moved to Denver? Would a team in Quebec city really do better now?
  10. They calculate the estimated catch using data from anglers who do their 'Angling Diaries' each season to determine how many fish are caught for each 'angler effort hour'. The combine this data with info from the boat launches and other surveys which gives them approximate 'angling effort hours' and do the math. They've done it this way for a long time and they seem to think it gives them a pretty good guestimate at least. Certainly not perfect but no statistical method such as this really is.
  11. The link I posted shows the actual harvest & Total Allowable Catch for the entire lake (which is set out by the International Lake Erie Comittee not the MNR) which is the numbers I quoted. It also says: The OMNR&F can only decide hour the Ontario portion of the TAC is split up between commercial and sport. The TAC for each of the four international management zones changes a bit every year but it's not much different now than for the 2014 report I posted. I agree though, the sportfishing limits in Lake Erie don't seem unreasonable but I don't think the same can be said for other lakes. Point is that the sportfishing harvest is far more than lots of people think it is relative to the commercial harvest
  12. Actually many plants do. They use waste fuel and steam to run co-gen units then put the electricity on the grid. Kathleen pays them over double what she sells it for and then wonders what's wrong.....now that's outside the box thinking!!!
  13. I'm not sure where the 99.06% number comes from, I know in Lake Erie the sportsfishing typically accounts for around 20% of the annual harvest of perch and about 50% of the walleye. I don't have last year's numbers handy but this summarizes the 2015 numbers which are pretty typical. The combined harvest numbers are normally around 75% of the TAC (total allowable catch) set out each year by the Lake Erie Commission. I'm sure the few other lakes that still have commercial netting would have similar number splits. http://derby.hcslions.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/FactSheet-2015.pdf
  14. I guess I missed that class....I thought CO was CO, one carbon, one oxygen atom.
  15. Actually CO is very slightly lighter than air however this is a very common misconception: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3ACarbon_monoxide_detector
  16. I was a life long leafs fan (for reference, I was alive the last time they won the cup) but became quite disgruntled a few years ago and had to turn my back on the mighty buds. I turned instead to the Detroit Red Wings since I really admired their head coach and the long tradition of making the playoffs. I was amazed that Babs came to Toronto (I thought he had more class than that at the time) and it really left me in a predicament. I've now mellowed and with him, Shanny, and Lou at the helm and the way things are going, I am back on board. My kids even bought me a pair of Babsocks for Christmas and I'm thinking of patenting the inevitable 'Babcrocs' before someone else does: https://babsocks.ca/
  17. On the boat in question you should be able to use the front link. The quick disconnect joints are nice so you can easily remove the bar when not in use. You can either buy the quick disconnect ball joints and make your own connecting rod or buy the panther kit and cut/bend to suit: https://www.amazon.ca/Panther-55-2401-Auxiliary-Motor-Steering/dp/B003E1OBTI https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IVD0LU/ref=pe_140030_221599160_em_1p_0_ti Note that the thread is 3/8-24-NF so you need a fine thread die to make your own. I just made one for the new boat with 3/8 dia aluminum round bar, threaded the ends and put a piece of 1/2" electrical shrink sleeve over the whole length. Looks like a nice black rubber coating that came from the factory!
  18. Troll masters are great for speed control, I have one on my old boat. I'm actually leaning towards the iTroll for the new one though, I like the idea of the 'hunt' feature and it will also control a remote steering system if I decide to go that way later but for now it's a tie bar. Given the layout of my new boat I had to put remote start/choke, & shift/throttle on it but it gets pretty expensive and you'd likely be fine without it. I often troll with the kicker set straight for propulsion and let the Terrova autopilot steer and trim the speed which works fine too. http://www.itroll.us/itroll.buy.html
  19. May 17, 2007; coming up 10 years. Still miss it from time to time but I'm sooooo glad I was able to quit and stay quit. Definitely not easy but it's worth the fight.
  20. I have two Rapala linecounters in my cupboard, unusable due to the lack of availability of a 10 cent part....no more Rapala gear for me.
  21. There are reports on the Lake Simcoe board but they're all bad.....poor ice now, warm temps & windy forecast makes for a bit longer of a wait I'm afraid. The latest one says there is some ice from Beaverton out to Thorah Island but it's sketchy with open water beyond that.
  22. 3M 77 is great for vinyl as others have said. I just did the consoles in mine and it worked great. Where can you purchase good quality marine carpet?
  23. Agreed 100% on the card thing but the provincial government would never increase the fees we pay would they???
