That's what I did to mine years ago I have the fish trap 2 and I had extra re-inforced fabric sown onto the trouble spots mine is a flip up two seater as well and also had a zipper put in so when I want to go in and out of my hut I don't have to flip it up all the time just mcguyver it I did !!!!!! Cause when it's froze with ice and water on it it will be even more brittle I also used to spray mine with waterproofing every season !!! Another truck is to dry it out after every use or it will freeze up from the inside condensation !!! Mine used to just ride in the back of my truck all winter so I was always ready to go !!! But had to dry it out a lot to get the frost out of it and it will last you along time !!!! I was one of the first guys in Ontario to have one when they came out !!!! It was quite the attention grabber on the ice I had guys offering me insane money for it all the time for the first year as nobody had ever seen one !!!!! Ahhhh the memories ... Lots of small lakes in Haliburton are froze and guys are fishing but only walking out and I guess there's some guys fishing the lower end of pigeon lake too but if you don't know the areas you want to go better be safe and wait a week things are getting better lots of cold temps and my lake which is sturgeon lake I making ice big time !!!!! The smaller lakes In Haliburton were froze and had a few inches but they have got about 8-10 inches of snow and is insulating them but guys are out walking and fishing on them !!!! It's cold there today and its helping for sure !!!! But yes guys are out on lakes in the Dorset Haliburton forest area .... Stay off the big lakes lots of slushy spots and open water on them !!!! That's a report from last night by brother -inlaw is a plow driver for Haliburton county ... He knows has been there for 40yrs....

That lake has a slot as well and only one line through the ice as well !!! Please read the regs before you go !!!

Gonna snowmobile into a few back lakes in the Bon-echo prov park area and do a little speck fishing while I'm riding for a few days my buddy went in on his quad a month ago and hid a new auger so we don't need to bring a lot of gear in just a backpack and we will hit a few speck lakes we hae done well in years ago !!!!!
