  1. Very touching photos for sure !!! i have been to a few bridges now,at least 30 times,as well as yesterday!!! and my brother in-law is there oin the front lines again for his 3rd tour,he is based at CFB PETAWAWA.... and as you could well imagine everytime we hear of more soldiers killed,we are totally shaken,he has lost many, many friends there now,and believe me they all know that they are getting support at home on the motorcade routes, and they get all the e-mails that are sent, and all the care packages that people send, they really do apreciate everyones well-wishes !!!!
  2. Sorry to hear the bad news tom, take care...
  3. Some nice fish there cliff !!!! waiting for part 2...cheers
  4. Glad to see you are back rick !!!! cheers & happy new year bud
  5. Must have been nice to get out terry !!! thanks for the report & ice up-date...maybe i can get out real soon with percher !!!....cheers
  6. Well wayne a 10 color will do the job,and i guess it depends just what lake he is fishing in too, there are lots of lakes that are less than 100ft that have lakers, but yes if he is going to be in a lake thats deep like 90+ ft than ya leadcore would not be as effective for sure, the new torpedo divers are a good way to get down too,4-8oz snap-weights will work as well, but you need a heavy action, rod and a decent reel with a pretty good capacity as well...so all the options will work, you can also use a 4-6oz bottom bouncer, and drift shoals,or mid lake humps & dropoffs, there is the copper line set-up as well, but you need about 400ft,behind the boat,it works well, where you have lots of room to move around!!! you cant turn too sharp with 400ft of copper behind you thats for sure !!!!
  7. As well you can use a dipsey diver and wire line,or another awesome method is to use segmented leadcore !!!! many trout have been taken with those 2 ways !!! and its not too expensive to rig yourself up a rod & reel that can handle either set-up !!!! cheers
  8. Nice presents from santa jim !!!! you will love the gps,i have mine on my boat as well, with the navionics gold chip,xl14 and it works great, you can mount the unit on a ram mount, that way you can swivel it around for different angles so you can see it from wherever you are,i use it as a back up,to my lms -lowrance,ill leave the graph on sonar, and use the h20 on the map,its a great set-up !!! those live target perch lures are nice too,im looking forward to using them as well, they look so real ??? and you can use the h20 for ice fishing too!!!...cheers
  9. Great pics dan !!! that cliff face pic is very nice
  10. Awesome 4x4 ing on the ice-road,simon !!! nice report & video clips/pictures, you will have to get back to that spot in the spring, there may just be a few more eyes waiting for you !!! sure looks like beautiful country up there.thanks for sharing your day on the lake !!!!....cheers
  11. I have caught lakers and eyes in crystal, but man its tough fishing, even in the winter, the guy that owns the marina says that not too mant trout that are ever over the slot limit,as most are small 1-3 lbs !!!! i have never done the whitie fishing there, but i would think it might be slow as well, the lake gets hit very hard, and lots of fishing pressure...but you never know if you dont try right???....cheers
  12. Thats sucks big time terry !!!! man on the link picture you can see the mud lines on lake ontario, and lake erie is chocolate milk color !!! it looks like scugog is still frozen excepth for the area around view lake and the river entrance !!! but like you said simcoe does not look good at all,and it looks like only half of cooks bay is solid

  17. Nice haul bud !!!!...that purple ghost color x-rap is a great walleye bait !!! and in the early spring the kings on lake ontario go nuts on it too,i will have to get a few of those shallows raps too,in the skinny water at dusk they should be a killer !!! cheers
  18. Oh man not again !!!! i forsee a locked thread already !!!!
  19. I use4 different rods for ultra-light finnese fishing, mostly for jiggin & dropshotting !!!! 6.6ft fenwick hmg, awesome rod for jigging 7ft compre shimano for small bucktails 6.6ft fenwick hmx walleye series rod, for lindy rigging,or jigging 7ft st.croix avid ipc rod for small cranks or drifting, jigging they are all either ul,or medium light, and i usually use 6lb florocarbon on them, and they are all soooo sensitive,if you want to get a few ultrlights dont skimp out on quality get a good rod and yes you will pay more, but for finnesse fishing man they are so light,it really does make a difference, and oh ya go for 1 pc rods, its like night & day !!! cheers
  20. Nice day on the ice simon !!!! well done,at least you have great conditions up there, its been just pouring rain down here !!!...glad you got a nice eye for a meal !!!cheers happy new year to you as well...

  22. Talked to my friend who lives on the lake at veiw lake, and he said the lake is covered with lots of water, and wind is pliling the water up,and there is whitecaps on top of the ice !!!! man there is acually waves on top !!! but there still apperas to be lots of ice,he said you would need waders to check !!!! next update in a few days cheers
  23. Good luck gerritt,im going to do it as well,i have been thinking about it for a while,so now im talked into it,i did once quit for 5 yrs !!!! and on a big fishing/camping trip,on lake temagami i started again, man i was stupid !!!! plus its the right thing to do !!! so i will do it..cheers
  24. WOW...its blowing big time here in oshawa, and we also have at least 6-8inches of water in our back yard !!!! and when i drove downtown oshawa to pick up my girlfriend julie,i looked at the oshawa creek up close, and man is it ever high !!! and huge ice chunks were just barelling down the creek, end over end,it sounded like a train !!!! and the water is tossing them around like they are toys !!!! so i can imagine the water going through the bigger creeks & rivers dlike the credit and the ganny !!!! if the water comes another 4 ft closer there will be water on the patio by the back door !!!!
  25. As of x mas day,on lots of spots there was 7-8inches,and some places even more, but the usual spots near the river, and around by pine point are still not safe aparently !!!! but all this warm weather, man here in oshawa it hit 10degrees!!! so im hoping the bog will hold out???? i will get some more info in a few days....cheers
