  1. When I go ice fishing, things that are sure to happen. 1) my biggest fish of the day will get stuck on the hole and I'll lose it. 2) Right as I say 'I've had my fill. I'm heading out.' The bite will pick up. 3) the person fishing the hole 2 feet away from me will outfish me 3-1.

I take the averages. Rock bass count..... Right? :P

  2. Great post. I'll be out on Simcoe tomorrow. Looks great out there. Is the ice safe on Guelph Lake? I know the park staff say to keep off, but back when they rented huts I was out every year.
  3. Gotta love life-proof cases. Run it over with the truck a few times and it will still work like new.
  4. If you head out B, let me know? I was thinking Minet before VB Sunday morning but am playing it by ear for now
  5. When the huts are out on Minet, I'll be there. No way before.
  6. Noooooo! He was one of my faves!!! Rumor has it animal was based on Keith Moon.

Venison steak ranks up there for sure. I don't know that I have ever had fresh caught salt water fish.

  8. One of the best fish IMO. Boil it and dip it in garlic butter. For saving $9.95 a pound, I'll take it over lobster.
  9. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/articles/there-could-be-more-plastic-than-fish-in-the-sea-by-2050/62569/ News EDITOR'S CHOICESee the weather event that has Canadians in awe, here CATEGORY MONTH Search U.S. World Weather Nature Life Stargazing Animals Roads Travel Winter There could be more plastic than fish in the sea by 2050 views Don't miss New study suggests 8 million metric tonnes of plastic are entering the ocean each year Keurig creator says he 'regrets' his invention due to the environmental waste it generates PHOTOS: America's garbage problem 99 per cent of birds to contain plastic by 2050, study says FIND YOUR FORECAST Search for a location Cheryl Santa Maria Digital Reporter Tuesday, January 19, 2016, 4:45 PM - A new report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation paints a dismal future for the world's oceans, if no preventative action is taken. While plastic is an integral part of modern society, this "miracle material" has a downside. It's estimated that 1 billion tonnes of plastic have been discarded since the 1950s and research suggests it will take up to 500 years for some forms to biodegrade. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, only 8% of the total plastic waste generated in 2010 in the U.S. actually made it to recycling plants. The other 92% was shuffled off to landfills or found its way into the water. The paper by the MacArthur foundation analyzes the current rate of plastic making its way into the world's oceans, and offers a projection for the future. "The new report acknowledges that while plastics and plastic packaging are an integral part of the global economy and deliver many benefits ... most plastic packaging is used only once," reads a statement on the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's website. "Given projected growth in consumption, in a business-as-usual scenario, by 2050 oceans are expected to contain more plastics than fish (by weight)." According to the report, at least 8 million tonnes of plastics leak into the ocean every minute, a number that's expected to double by 2050 if no action is taken. The paper acknowledges that reducing the amount of plastic in the ocean will require "major" global collaboration, but the authors believe change is possible. The foundation is calling on governments to impose stricter policies around plastic packaging while calling for improvements in packaging technologies. PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN A study published in December 2014 by U.S. and U.K. researchers suggested there are more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic weighing nearly 269,000 tonnes currently swirling in the world's oceans. The largest source of plastic was from discarded fishing nets, but a heavy presence of plastic bags, toys and bottles was discovered as well. Smaller pieces appear to be getting eaten by fish and travelling up the food chain. The study only measured plastic found floating at the top of the ocean, and not the trash littering the seabed. PLASTIC IN THE ICE Plastic isn't just swirling in the water: A study published in May 2014 a team of researchers discovered there could betrillions of pieces of microplastics lurking in Arctic ice. As the ice it melts due to rising global temperatures, it could flood the ecosystem with an unprecedented amount debris. "Arctic sea ice from remote locations contains concentrations of microplastics at least two orders of magnitude greater than those that have been previously reported in highly contaminated surface waters," the study's author's write. "Our findings indicate that microplastics have accumulated far from population centers and that polar sea ice represents a major historic global sink of man-made particulates." The research team believes that Arctic ice is trapping floating microplastics as it freezes. By citing current melting trends, the team estimates that 1 trillion pieces of plastic could be released in the next ten years. Source: Ellen MacArthur Foundation
  10. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4zg3DSTG53I Not sure if this was the same quad. The blue ice report posted the extraction process of a Quad on Cooks bay. Even just 4-5 FOW this looks like a massive pain in the butt.
  11. It's like with anything, the $50 combos are better then the $39, but you don't need it. Best bet, if you have a small real from a summer combo you like, add that to a ML stick, St. Croix and Fenwick make my favs but even an Ugly stick is good. If not, get a pre-made ML or L combo, toss out the crummy line and you'll do great.
  12. Listen to nick. The man is wise. It's such an interesting hobby, you can get away with a paint stick, 4lb mono and a hook or you can spend thousands of dollars. For now, I'd say get one decent ML rig. Will get you through most species to see if you like it.
  13. Me before the ice is confirmed safe: Guys, post all your pics and reports. Let's see those fish and safe ice. WOO! Me after ice is confirmed safe: No one post anything! I don't want to see what I'm missing out on!

  14. Pete, I'm not gonna lie to you............. See ya later. I've had to switch to the ads because you keep telling me I gotta pay for dinner if I wanna get anywhere with you........ And that's just for your fishing spots. :p
  15. Mine keeps telling me pretty girls want to talk to me. There are no pretty girls. It's all the ads at the top
  16. Wha? You mean three inches of ice isn't enough to support a sled?!?! Why didn't anyone tell me. ....... Oh....... Wait....... Glad no one was hurt though.
  17. Actually I really like this idea. I'd pay to watch that.
  18. Looks like Doan or Ekman Larsson will be taking his place. I hope if they win, they end up giving him the money. Lord knows those two don't need an extra 90K.
  19. If the NHL wants only the best players in, let the fans choose from a ballot of 60 of the best players like baseball used to. Simple. You can leave the door to the barn open and then cry when a few horses escape.
  20. This deal stinks and I really feel for him. People voted him in, regardless of the reason and he decided to go. End of story. It is no longer the league or teams or anyone's decision other then his. If any one of us were given a one day opportunity to play an NHL game or something to that Akin, we would take it. It would possibly be the greatest moment of our life. Don't take that experiance from him.
  21. Well, that itch is now scratched........ Pfffft! No! Now all I want to do is go ice fishing!
