  1. That's interesting. When I used to go it was always $40 per person.
  2. Nope. I'm just going to flip the hut over and paddle it out to the middle of the lake.
  3. Thanks guys. Quickme, I'm decked out in ice fishing gear. I just find tha fishing new lakes, I'm often starring at multiple holes in the ice with nothing to show for. When Quinte locks up I'll send out some PM's. Thanks so much for the help everyone.
  4. Thanks for the help guys. This is a great start. Will Dave be there/have the huts ready before sunup if I book in advance?
  5. Hey everyone, It occurred to myself and Brain (Dyanmic_Bear) that in 3 years of ice fishing, we have never once hit up Quinte. From all I have heard about the potential walleye that come out of there, I figure its a good year to try it out. As I know very little about the area, I figure the best way to start is to hit up a good hut operator that can put us on some fish. You guys know me, comfort and price take a back seat to the likelyhood of hooking into a couple of beauties. Any recommendations on which hut operators have the best success in terms of being put on fish?
  6. With Elliot lake is it one road in one road out?
  7. Seems to always happen in 3's Scott Wallin Lemmy from Motörhead David Bowie. A sad day indeed.
  8. I can attest to this. Even I caught walleye. McLoud and Fushimi in that area are nice as well.
  9. I'm sure you already know these but in Tobermory, the grotto in Fathom five national park is amazing. A glass bottom tour to Flowerpot island is worth it, and on the north shore of Lake Huron, Chutes provincal park is a neat little spot to stop for the evening. If you are going up to Nipigon, it's worth the extra hour drive to see the sleeping giant just outside Thunder Bay. The hike is a little long, but there and Tobermory are two of my favourite places on earth.
  10. Waited until the 11th hour, even started driving up north, but I just can't justify taking the risk to try and ice fish today. Even the back lakes probably aren't safe. Gotta wait one more week.

  11. I got a 2 man clam nanook and I am full of regret. Thing was a tank to drag across the ice even with minimal snow. I have had the pleasure of using Chris K's 4 man Rapala before and it's super nice. Pop ups are your best bet unless you have a sled.
  12. You might catch a brown trout. Or a black crappie.
  13. Would it be us and a friend if we won? I'd love to bring my grandfather or Nikki up there.
  14. Wow. Nice haul bud. Great start to the year.
  15. I'll let you know how your previous smitty does come Sunday. Looks like I will be able to hit Cooch for some Jumbos. Her real test will be in about a month or so when I decide to make the trek back out to long shoal. See ya on the hard water.
  16. https://www.youtube.com/user/THEBLUEICEREPORT All you need to know about Simcoe ice. I can not stress this enough, do not go out until you see the guy on the video saying it is safe. He goes out with a few members of the Lake Simcoe board. When they find 5 inches of safe ice for about 200m, they give the thumbs up.
  17. Whats the 'warning flash'? My claim to fame used to be Toronto to Thunder Bay in 15 hours (I'd come home on long weekends). And Toronto to Edmonton in 60 hours. That was also with getting slowed down with blowing a tire 100km outside of Winnipeg on the second day.
  18. Nice! My buddy got one a few years ago and he loves it. When are you driving it out on simcoe?
  19. I was just thinking that Chad. Was it really December 1st? We need another winter like that. The missus keeps asking me when I'm going to bring her some fresh fish home.
  20. Thought I recognized it. I'm chomping at the bit like crazy bud. Weather has been to cold to kayak fish and too warm to ice fish. Soon though.
  21. If the crick don't thaw, I'll be ice fishing Sunday.
