  1. Always a great sight to see Lew. Thanks for posting the pics.
  2. Looks like a nice day on the water for the 3 of you. Great pics! Too bad about the lack of fish but certainly better than sitting at home. I was out there as well with a buddy and had a great day, report to come.
  3. Awesome looking fish!! Definitely the quote of the the day.
  4. I'm assuming you want a jigging rod from your original post. Certainly agree with davey bouy and that you don't need to spend anywhere near that for a decent combo. You can get a really nice combo for $150 to $200 and still have money in the bank for more jigs. However if you want to spend it all, I'd look at the Shimano Stradics and maybe a Spiel custom rod. Certainly worth a PM to Spiel and see what he can do for you on a rod. From there, see what is left over for the reel. You can still get a nice reel in the $50-$100 range.
  5. Sky is the limit, do you have a budget you'd like to stick with? 1 piece or 2 piece rod?
  6. Sorry Bernie, I'll try to make up for my lack of drinking the next trip. I was a beautiful sunrise though. Can't believe I was the first guy up both days!
  7. I really liked my Canon S2 and had lasted several years. Easy P&S style but with a decent zoom. It's newer big brother seems pretty cool and might be something you would like for you needs. PowerShot SX500 IS
  8. Thanks for the update Wayne. Lots of figuring to be done but at least they have the ball rolling. Positive thoughts and prayers sent your way. Let me know if there is anything I can do.
  9. Well that was just BEYOND EPIC!!! :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: Nearly fell off my chair when I read this "I can't believe you were just greased out by some rube flossing fish with a marshmallow on the Sutton!!" :rofl2: Lots of jaw dropping shots, cool videos, and great story telling. And yet again my bucket list gets longer after reading a "Solopaddler" report. Thanks Bill and Mike for taking us down the river on your incredible adventure.
  10. They are all good G. As for your chair Gerritt - do you mean the outhouse?? If so - it was honoured..... The "band" is playing pretty well, might have finished 2 songs this time. Now if Cliff would pick up the guitar and practice between trips...... So looking forward to the next trip Bernie.
  11. I'm good with that Bernie. Pretty tough to argue with the brook trout. Mother nature did a fine job there.
  12. Great shots Bernie, always nice to spend a bit of time lounging outside before the trip home. I didn't take many pics at all, had Cliff with me so why would I? Here are a couple of the sunrise you all missed on Sunday. Thanks again for a great weekend gents! How many days till the next one??
  13. x2. I got a crazy colour of spoon for Lake Ontario suggested a few years ago and bought it. Sat in my spoon tray till this summer, wonder why I waited so long. It out produced every other colour of spoon I put out there. Went on the hunt for more of them and found them in one store and cleared them out. If painting, I'd go with a perch or walleye pattern. Silver and black combo sounds good as well.
  14. I hope they listen to you Joe! Giesler Island potatoes kick P.E.I. potatoes in the Lew. Awesome time as always gentlemen. Great seeing you all again, good times had by all. Nice to have your buds join us Bernie. Hope Bob got away OK and that Nick enjoys the rest of his stay. Thanks for posting some pics Cliff and doing up the report Joe. Till the next time!!
  15. Awesome report Rich, what seasoning do you put on your fish? Looks good.
  16. That was stellar!!! Thanks for taking the time to put that together Drew. AWESOME!!
  17. Quite the documentary video Jacques! A bit of weather striping around the door and windows, some insulation and it could double as an ice shanty.
  18. Good stuff Roy, nice to see you getting some water time in.
  19. Looks like another fantastic trip Frank and Juli. A beautiful piece of heaven there, awesome pics.
  20. I'd never swim there again either Dan. Bad enough when you catch a fish with one on it's side. Cools pics of the mantis.
