  1. Great looking ride Lew, I'm tire kicking myself but do like the Ford I have now.
  2. 30 Replies and 649 Views in 6 hours.....good topic! Jen nailed, plain and simple. It's not all about the fishing, it's about the community. Weather someone has a banner day on the water, buys a new truck, need help with a problem of some kind, or has lost a loved one, you will find it here and with that the support of community. It is what makes this place what it is.
  3. My deepest condolences Paul. That dementia is a terrible thing. Treasure the good times and the memories from long ago.
  4. That first fish is just a young barred musky. Clear cheeks and a pointed tail. You'll notice that the tiger has a rounded tail and marked cheeks.
  5. Great report Simon!! Keep them coming!!
  6. My Bat Boat and Bat Truck...and I caught the bigger fish Robin.... A couple more shots from the day, the 42" The 40" in focus this time.... A really nice clean fish. The tiger with the tail straight out, just a beauty! And the release. It took off like a rocket! Now to the Batcave Robin to plan for the next adventure!! LOL!!
  7. I threw some blades around at the start of the day (Had to test out the new Handlebarz, awesome baits Mike!) Having not seen a fish, other then the one that rolled on the surface in front of me, and Cliff losing the first one on the suick I switched back to the glide bait and got a fish on that first cast with it, followed shortly with a follow. Given the weather and front that was moving in, I believe they just wanted a slower presentation.
  8. You should see what it does for my Joe..... Thanks for doing up the report Cliff and being a great net man! Another awesome weekend on the water with ya and looking forward to the next trip. I'll have to look at my camera tonight and see if there's a pic or two to add to the report.
  9. Nicely done gents! I would have liked to have seen that video if you had "captured the moment" Brian.... I'm sure Terry had a few choice words while thinking he had lost the fish... .
  10. The one I have does have an expiry date Roy, has that changed recently or maybe it's just the model I wear? I've got an Mustang auto inflate that's about 4 years old and the re-arm device has an expiry date for next year on it.
  11. I was visiting my grandfather at the nursing home last week when he received a call. He was getting incredibly frustrated so I asked him to give me the phone. I told them that I was speaking on behalf of my grandfather who was in a nursing home and not mentally fit to make any decisions. (the truth) They apologized several times and said that they would never call back again without me ever asking them not to call again. lol! First time that's ever happened. I personally screen all my calls and if it's a not a name or number that I recognize, I just don't answer. If it's important they'll leave a message. Started doing that when I was going through my divorce...
  12. Some great shots in the 2 part report. Amazing how that pike hit with the broken stringer in it's mouth. Thanks for the report.
  13. Done that a few times and will do it again. It is a great way to spend a day and you will learn a lot too.
  14. A December date should be doable.
  15. Found the following as I had a bit of time to kill today. Whatever you decide to do try a test spot on the back of the mount first. And take some before and after pictures as well.
  16. Did they have a razor shortage on the east coast? You should be able to find them now that you are back. LOL! Welcome back!
  17. Reels - Diawa Sealines SG47LCA if you can find them. Being replaced with the SG47LC3B. This is the largest of the reels in that line. You may have up to 400ft of line or more out depending on the conditions. Some use the smaller sized reels. Personally I use the Okuma 30D's and have not had a problem with them with the walleye or salmon and had them for 7 or 8 years now. Either the 30D's or 47's will set you back around a $100ish You can spend more and get a Okuma Catalina or Clarion, Shimano Tekotas are pretty sweet as well or the Diawa Saltist. These are in the $150 to $200+ range. Rods - I just use the Shimano TDR's and at $40 they are pretty hard to beat. I did grab a Rapala Trolling rod for $40 as well this year and like it as well. Comes down to what you want to spend as you can certainly go up from there. You want a medium to medium heavy in these rods as stated above. In-line Boards - I use Offshores and have been very happy with them. I did upgrade the release to the OR-18 adjustable tension release and have no issues with them. Others will tell you to get the Church Tackle boards, I haven't used them so I can not speak for them. Line - I running everything - braid, mono, and leadcore. Joe does bring up a valid point on the mono being a bit more forgiving and keeping the bait in the fishes mouth. Lighter drag setting and softer rod will help when using the braid. Rod holders - Whatever works but something that will lock the rod in place. I've been using Scotty's without any problems. They replace a Rapala holder that the rod rested in after the first time I used them. Almost lost the rods any many times that day Joe? Can't go wrong with Salty's if you can clamp them on the gunnel or want to spend the money for the mounts. Good luck and don't forget the report. Edit - Another reel to look at is the new Okuma Coldwater series. Okuma Cold Water Linecounter Reels
  18. Awesome looking fish!! Got to get one of those beauties these days.
  19. Some decent fish for the conditions, those fish all seem to have the feed bag on - thick looking fish. That is worth the price of any guid to get some quality fish like those in the boat. Price of gas wasn't too bad either eh? Thanks for the report.
