Cliff - You might be onto something there. I had just taken off the touque as it was getting a bit warm and BANG! Wayne - You actually threw something out? I did that once on the girlfriends advice, she calls it purging, I think it's craziness. Well I went through some old bits and pieces of stuff and off to the dump I went. The next weekend came and I needed a small piece of metal and I knew where I could get one........at the dump. Thanks again for the replies.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Wayne - I use to double up on the socks as well with similar results. What I've been doing the last couple of years is bringing a thick pair to the lake to change into and leaving the sport socks on shore. Doing this my feet have been staying warm 95% of the time. By having only the one pair I think it gives your foot room to breathe. I may have to look into a pair of the thin wick away ones like you have for 100% warmth. Any brand you recommend and a place to buy them? Cliff - Those walleye certainly do fight more then those perch from the day before. Less fuss with the cleaning process as well. lol! The fish were cleaned and frozen for my grandfather. With him being shut in these days I know that he'll enjoy a great meal like that.

For many years I been wanting to get down to the BOQ for some hard water action, it finally happened on Sunday. While trying to organized an outting with a couple of the guys that I did the flying trip with last year we decided on heading down to Quinte. I told them not to expect too much but I'd do some homework and see what I could come up with. Thanks to Sam at Carra Outdoor Sports for his tips and locations that he shared with us. Sam also took the time to show us his latest project he was working on, a 22 point buck that was taken last fall. Some AWESOME work Sam. We headed on our way and were on the ice around 8am. Certainly not what I would call the magic hour but we were fishing. I wasn't marking much on the finder and was wondering if we should move or not. A distant conversation of the bite time starting at 9:30 kept us on our spot. It wasn't much longer when I had my first hit and about 5 minutes later it was game on! The first fish of the day caught by yours truly. A couple of pictures and back to some fishing. Looked at my watch and it was 9:35am. I guess those guys knew what they were talking about. A few more minutes and I've got fish #2 on the ice. A smaller fish but a good fry pan size. I get the other guys switched over to the bait of the day and then Ken has a swing and a miss, followed by loosing one, followed by success! I heard off in the distance those voices of wisdow saying that the bite should be done by 11am. This was just before Ken's fish which came up at 10:55am. We didn't get another eye the rest of our stay. The winds picked up and the guys got there lesson on proper foot wear. Good thing I had the clam and heater. A couple of small perch and that was it for the day. For a first hard water trip to the BOQ, I'd say we did pretty good. Too bad Dan didn't get one but we'll try it again sometime. Here's the catch of the day. Thanks for coming along Ken and Dan, we'll do it again.

Well after years of talking about it, I'm heading down to the BOQ on Sunday. Thinking of hitting the Belleville area and wondered where I might find some bait in the wee hours of the morning. Also wondering about the ice conditions and where to avoid. If any fellow OFNer's will be out there, keep an eye open for they green polaris and clam, I'll be wearing a blue and black ice rider jacket. Feel free to PM if you prefer. Thanks

My insurance requires 3 locks, a motor lock, a wheel immobilizing device and a coupler lock. This is when the boat is on the trailer and not connected to a tow vehicle. So the motor lock is on 24/7 as is the coupler lock. Wayne brought up a good point in just removing the nut and away they go. I'll be throwing on the wheel lock as well when I'm parked for the day. It would sure suck to come in and not have a trailer to load up onto. When docking over night, depends where I'm at and if it is possible to do so. With all the cordless power tools out there today, it doesn't take them long to get through any materials if they really want something. As I've heard many times, locks are for honest people.

The problem with the heater that you are using is that there is no ventilation for the exhaust fumes. A simple venting fan to the outside should help with the moisture and might be the cheapest way of dealing with it. However you'll loose a lot of your heat. A buddy of mine had 2 electric heaters, (240 volt I think) rig to a thermostat. Fairly inexpensive for the heaters and he didn't notice a big difference on the electric bill. He had them mounted halfway up the wall and they did keep the place quite warm. Another option might be a zero clearance propane/natural gas furnace, like the ones they have in the ice bungalows on Nippissing. Just mount to an outside wall and vent directly to the outside. Probably about the same cost as a wood stove and pipe, maybe more depending on the run of the gas line but your insurance may not change saving you money in the long run. I hope this helps.

Good to hear that everyone had a great time. Too bad about the fishing but it looks like the food and company more then made up for it.

Hello! It's been a while since I've had sometime to post anything but I thought I'd take a couple of minutes to share these shots from the weekend. Enjoy!

Well after following this over the past couple of weeks, it good to see some kind of a response. (Thanks Fish Farmer!) It's pretty clear (as mud) that you'll need a number until they sort this mess out. So I called and got mine in about 2 minutes. Good to go. The main reason for doing this is that I'll be up on Nippissing this weekend and the portable will be on the ice all weekend. Even though it will be taken down and locked in a vehicle at night. After the nonsense I went through this summer I'm making sure that all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed and that the oil is hot before I skin a fish.

WOW!! Ask and you shall receive! That looks nasty. Good call on going in for the tetanus shot. When we get out again next year Pete, I'll take one of those new blood line baits. Take care.

Some great reading here. Joey, that was priceless! I'm not sure if Bly can make Tacos or not. I do know that she makes an awesome lunch and some wicked cookies. No reason why she can't make up a great taco as well. I came up with Fishnsled because of my love of fishing and sledding many years ago and it has just stuck with me.

Thanks for the updates Beans and Cliff. Remember this Jack, there's still lots of fishing to be done. My Grandfather was given the big "C" word with the same condition your have and he's still doing well after several years of being told. Stay on the bright side. We're all pulling for you here.
