  1. I figured that I was over due for a fishing report so here ya go. I ran into a buddy of mine at a party last Saturday night. We got chatting about trying to get some time on the water together and how difficult it has been. Lincoln has his own business that he's started up and as most of you know that can be quite demanding of your time. He does animal control - skunks, raccoons, birds, bats and even did a beaver the other day that had made it's way onto someone's gazebo. Anyways were trying to pick a day to go out and I told him that I had a seat in the boat for the next day. He did some pleading with his girlfriend (actually he just asked, she's pretty cool!) and she said go ahead. Lincoln must have really wanted to go as he left the part before I did! lol! I should mention that Lincoln is the king of the camera. I've never known anyone to snap off as many shots as he does. The following shots are a very small sample of the pics he took of our day together. I'll let the pictues do most of the talking. The next morning I picked up him up just after 5:30am and was surprised he was moving, if you know what I mean. He needed a bit food to get the day going. Nothing like some cheese to settle the stomach?? After loading up we headed over to Timmy's for some munchies and coffee. I should mention that with all the bad press that Timmy's been getting that I'd share some good. The staff were very friendly for that time of the morning and the server went out of her way to get Lincoln his flavour of Timbit. Thumbs up to the Timmy's in Brooklin. Some snacks for the day. You'd think I was the one with the hangover and I only had 2 beers all night. A couple of pics from the trip up. At the launch. Some new "friends" that blew a stop sign to get in front us, failed to pay on the way into the park and still left the launch after us. We stopped to grab this picture. Out on spot #1 we marked lots, had a few bumps and saw a couple caught but nothing boated for us. Where's the fish? He's got one. Lots of bugs. Move locations and the bugs came along, water was pretty rough as well. But we finally got onto them! Hooked in the mouth too!! Notice the eggs coming out of her, a bit late for this I think but it was in 70ft of water! Not to be out done it was my turn. Lincoln decided he wanted to down size a bit and threw out a crappie jig and grub rig I had in the boat and nailed this. After the pics and release I figure that there is going to be a battle today. So not to be out done I pulled up this guy. Lincoln replies with this one. At this point there's no way I'm going to loose this so I pull up this one. Followed by this one. :D Just an AWESOME day on the water with a very good friend. And no there never really was a battle just some good fishing that really did go back and forth like a tennis match. And now for the money shot, next time I'll have dinner at your place. Thanks for a great day and let's not wait so long until the next time. Sunday right??
  2. Cool report. Last year a pike tried to take my dinner.
  3. I'd agree with Joe on this as well. I think I'm paying around $40 a month, I'm with TD.
  4. I'd buy them. Nice job GCD! Now get out there and bang some paint off of them.
  5. Everything has been pretty much covered so I'll just add my congrats to you and Paul! I should add here that I do also have the insurance you are asking about. Mainly for piece of mind should I have a heart attach, cancer etc the mortgage will be paid off and one less thing to worry about.
  6. Don't you remember Bly saying something about leaving you and the kids at home the next time that I was going fishing....
  7. Hey Bernie, nothing like a little adventure if the conditions will allow. I'll look into a mortgage for the gas and will let you know. Thanks Gerritt and BillM. Looking forward to your report BillM and and you're bang on about the fish and chips Gerritt. Big portions too!
  8. Our summer vacation plans are finally in place and will be spending a few days on Shanty Bay near Noelville, looks like it is part of the French . We've booked into a B&B called Woodgrange Bed and Breakfast. We have always enjoyed going to B&B's as the food has been awesome at any we've been to in the past and you always meet some great people. This will be my first open water trip to Nipissing/French and the first time to that end of the lake. It looks like I won't have to travel too far for some great fishing but any tips are greatly appreciated. My main question is about charts for that area, where can I get one? Also was wondering about chips for gps units, do they have anything for this area? Might be the reason I need to up grade my present unit if you know what I mean. Bernie, Joe said if I was ever up in the area to be sure to contact you. So I'm giving you the warning now. We will be up there the July 29th to August 1st. Not sure it it will work out or not but it would be nice to hook up for a coffee or maybe some time on the water. On August 1st we are heading over to Whispering Pines On The Bay on Rock Lake near Killarney. I can taste the fish and chips from the bus now! It's looking like a great week.
  9. When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her out to some place expensive................... So I took her to a gas station!!!!!!!
  10. NICE fish and a great report. That mirror carp looks pretty cool. I'd never would have thought this until a couple of weeks ago when I got my first carp but....... I'm jealous......
  11. Great to hear things went well Peter, even a couple of fish! Thanks for the kind words from yourself and the others here. I just like to help out if I can whether that be in person, via a pm, or a phone call. Now we just have to pick a day to get out in that new ride!!! Tightlines.
  12. Well that looks like a great time! Good friends and good times, thanks for the report.
  13. Last year we were catching whitefish in 2-4ft of water right tight to shore. (Different body of water.) They were in shallow feeding on mayflies. A white power grub was the ticket to catching them. No reason imo why the same could happen there.
  14. Great report! That's one happy girl and one proud Dad!
  15. Great report as always Cliff. You certainly are a great net boy not only for family but friends as well.
  16. I'd use another symbol but it's a family board. I should be by tonight. THANKS!
  17. GREAT report Cliff! First of all I need thank the EXCELLENT guides I had for the evening. Thanks for the use of the gear and getting me all set up, I just had to bring a chair. This being my first carp adventure I needed all the help I could get. I had only caught one other carp in my life while trolling for walleye about 25 years ago. Always good to meet some new faces and share in an evening of fishing. Great to catch up with you Cliff and Bly, it's been way too long! And finally I'd like to thank the carp, because it was their cooperation in biting our baits that made the evening a great success. They like me! They really like me!! Now where to I buy all this carp gear....... OH! BTW - Motomaster Heavy-duty Hand Cleaner gets rid of the carp smell. Leaves your hands with a nice citrus smell instead.
  18. Looks like you had a great birthday. Mine was pretty good too! Same day as yours. Happy Belated!
  19. They might have enjoyed catching a sheephead Terry. Looks like a great day on the water to me.
  20. That's just FANTASTIC!! Thanks for sharing.
  21. Bought my my first fishing rod (that my parents didn't buy for me) there with my own money! Still have it and give it out as a loaner if needed. It's an old Zebco. Spent lots of time and a few dollars in that store before Collegiate took it over. The one I went to was at Brimley and Sheppard, about a 15 minute walk from my house when I was a kid. Ah good times!!! I came across this The Outdoor Store. I wonder if it's part of the original chain?
