  1. Thanks for the replies. The noise is clearly getting louder since I first noticed it. I hope I can find a shop that can do it tomorrow. If not, I think I will play it safe and get a rental. $300 parts and labour is the quote I got.
  2. Lately I noticed some noise coming from around my tires so I got it checked out. I was told the wheel bearing on the right side has to be replaced. I am going to go ahead with the work soon...only thing is I have about a week of solid driving ahead of me (~250km/day) and I didnt get the mechanic to do the work yet. The mechanic didnt feel that it was important to do it right away...however I dont want my wheel to fly off while on the hwy. Any experience with wheel bearings? should I be alright for another 1500km?? Thanks for any input!
  3. An additional dwelling unit may require upgrading the existing conditions. A few important building code requirements kick in with additional units (fire separations, etc). Check with the municipality if their bylaws will allow another unit. Doing it legally can result in a few major headaches depending on the rules in your area.
  4. I am going onto my fourth year of heavy use with my pair of breathables....only issue with them??????.....a pinhole in the neoprene sock. The breathable material and seams are rock solid.
  5. Forget the internet. What about the guys on the rivers that make more calls and receive more calls than an internet trouble shooting line. Have seen quiet rivers on weekend mornings full of fish turn into the Ganny on opener with just a few phone calls, no internet needed. Very common amongst the fashion show steelheaders...just as dangerous. Bigger problem is that these guys can catch fish. The way I see it, more guys on the river forces me to up my game to stay on fish. I'm actually surprised how quiet some stretches are even on weekends, considering these spots are accessible to the entire GTA. We should try to promote our sport, not turn people against it. Unless its on private property, no one has more rights to a public spot than others. Even if you've been fishing it for years. Your spot is full, get up earlier. Weekends too busy, fish weekdays. Lots of garbage, get a garbage bags and pick up after the slobs.
  6. Wow! posts like this that make me really want to expand my steelhead horizons. much to the fiances disappointment.

I am sensing there is an underlying message in this post???
  8. I too only will water harden loose eggs, skein never touches water. Sometimes I add some borax to the skeins for a bit before freezing, but prefer the natural stuff. When thawing out the skein, I find submerging it in VERY hot water (skein stays in the ziploc during the hot water thaw) allows the eggs to come off the skin much easier. Some people like to suck the air out of a bag with a straw or with their mouths, but I find that submerging the ziplock bag 99% under water, with only the top of the bag exposed with a small opening in the bag allows me to get the air out very easily as the water pressure pushes the air out of the bag. When all the air has been removed, keep the bag under water, and zip the small unzipped portion up so that no air escapes.
  9. Agreed. Its amazing how somtimes you can just pull fish in doing the above, even in heavier currents. No better drag system than the human hand and the centerpin allows you to make the required adjustments...fast. When fighting fish my rod usually flaps around like a birds flapping its wings to adjust to the fishes movements. Cant remember the last time I had to 'revive' a fish, usually gone in seconds after I put them back in the water.
  10. I say stick to the tribs when the fish are running (provided the season is open). Float fishing tends to be more productive (most of the time) in rivers. Nothing beats time on the water. Lots of time. Go to the guy catching the most fish and ask him what he is doing. Be prepared for a few skunkings before you consistantly start to connect with fish. Check the guide for eating fish to make sure what you want to eat is safe.

  12. Hello everyone. I am just looking for a few main differences between the two, pros and cons. Are there certain situations where one out performs the other? different seasons? Stretchability? durability? diameter? floatability? I use mono about 75% of the time. It seems the copolymer is little cheaper than some premium monos, however, when it comes to something important as line, I tend not to skimp. Copolymer feels smoother to me and not as "lumpy" as some monos I use. Knots also appear to be easier to tie with copolymer. Beyond that, I have confidence in both in the brands I use, just more experience with mono Does anyone have preferences/experiences with the two that they dont mind sharing? Thanks!!!
  13. Time to get rid of the wall the snow plow has left in front on my driveway.
  14. The snow is just a minor setback for being able to live in this country. Your parents and mine and many thousands of others couldn't have made a better choice. Thanks for bringing that up as sometimes I forget how difficult it must have been for them.
  15. I have thousands of digital photos that I dont really know what to do with. Today a co-worker showed me a book she has created from her wedding photos. A bound hard or soft cover book can be created, and what you have is a product that looks like something that appears on a bookstore shelf. First thought was that I could make one of these for my fishing photos. She said you download a program and do all the laying out yourself and send it to them through the internet. The company is an american company and she said they have been very good to deal with. The prices are pretty decent aswell. I am sure there are a few companies that offer this type of product. I have the company and the link available. I hope this not qualify as spam, and if everyone is okay I can add the link to this message.
