  1. Alright let's let this go I am disappointed that I had to read this crap. A start like this is not a good way to make friends and learn from each other. I hope to not read another thread that is in this tone or we will apply mod Q or post approval of all posts that take up my valuable time. Art

  3. Well I managed to make the trip out to London today with a buddy to pick up my new reel. The "Tigers Eye" now has her little sister the "Cats Azz" at home. Now it's high time summer moved along and let fall get under way.

  4. I lost a dear dear friend this week. All of a sudden, no warning, just gone. Not often you have a close friend that you golf with, hunt with, fish with. He was one of my greatest friends of all time. RIP Bob Loved ya. I post this, not for sympathy, please don't, but look at your close friends and realize tomorrow you could wake up and they're gone.

  5. Yea I'm still getting lot's of huge tomatoes this season but for some reason I'm getting some with black spots that definitely aren't blossom end rot, not sure why. The stem ends aren't as clean as normal either. I'm wondering if its because my watering schedule isn't as consistent as it should be or possibly an excess of nitrogen ferts from the chicken manure and alfalfa tea I was using. I thought I would have a water supply where I have them planted this year but that didn't work out due to plumbing issues in the farm house basement so I've been trucking water over to water 24 plants. Truck is down atm too with a blown power steering line so I'm using the car now. These ones are from my latest pick, the front 3 are over 2lbs and all the rest well over a pound. Time to start making tomato sauce.

  6. Last season's from cold storage or fresh picked ? Extra fancy grade ? Plus, I'd rather support a farmer in my neighborhood, than Galen Weston and a supplier in Quebec.. I'm only pullin' your chain because my daughter's in-laws are 3rd generation apple farmers in Thornbury...and she didn't marry my son-in-law for the money...lol. It's a tough grind being a farmer in Ontario these days.

  8. I am glad they closed it, what I witnessed last year were not true fisherman or outdoorsman. It was really sad, mostly people that could care less about nature, fishing laws/rules or the fishery. I am totally against opening any type of special season for First Nations people either in Port Hope or Rice Lake. Everyone should be following the same rules, as we try to protect and improve our fisheries. Rice Lake is a perfect example of how far the walleye population has dropped and as far as I know, MNR is doing nothing about. Or at least have seen no recent studies on why this is happening or nothing happening to change that either.

  10. It is about 1.5 times longer than your foot. You need to contact the worlds record people about your 18 inch long feet. Or your nine inch wide hands. Just sayin'....

  11. Sorry to hear that, it's tough when you lose a close friend like that. My closest bud and I were like brothers for 40 years and always together. He's the reason we bought this house here in the boonies as they were only a couple miles down the road. It was great for 18 months then he suddenly got sick and died. My wife and his wife are still best friends after 1/2 a century but at least I've still got a head full of memories.

  12. Stopped a a well known apple orchard east of meaford this morning, when I saw the price of some of the apples, I got back in the car and drove away. $85 for honey crisp. Bite me.

  13. It certainly pays to shop smart and pay attention to your receipts and the cash while they're scanning. I just came across this receipt from a couple weeks back while cleaning out my plastic grocery bags before putting them back in the car. I have bins full of them as I never used to throw them out. So this was from Freshco, I bought 18 items and every single one was on sale. Total sale was $63.69, total savings was $50.52 and I also earned $8.50 in points. Bottom line is that I saved just over 51% on the regular price of 114.21. I always stock up on items I regularly use when they go on sale.

  14. Considering a lot of the Bass boys are dropping close to $1k on a NRX+ or a JDM rod, I don't think the river rats have a monopoly on having a fetish for expensive tubes of carbon.. "didn't look cool but a hair scrunchie around the handle worked well for travelling between drifts" Even the best clickers are no match for a cedar branch...my wife quickly learned to buy a few more hair elastics than she needed, but a clicker certainly helps when rigging up...and fighting the fish with the clicker on.. you might as well be fishing with a spinning reel...definitely uncool.. Beauty looking rig Spiel...hope the rod gets a good bend and the reel takes a good spin !

  15. I find it funny that this response doesn't mention the slaughter that happens or the conditions it happens in. Fishing in that section isn't sporting. It's shooting fish in a barrel, I wouldn't even want to guess how many fish are flossed/snagged/pitchforked/netted or whatever during a single season run. This is the absolute best thing that could have happened, I hope it continues for years ahead.
