  6. I agree with Kipawa, there's a very special magic about that lake. I've been there a good 20 times and if I could I'd go back every year. Not near as many lodges anymore though, Alwaki for example is still open but is now severed and different lots are for sale. That's a 14 mile boat ride from the government dock in Kipawa and another 8 miles or so gets you to Hunters lake and Kipawa Lodge, it's always been considered the best of them all. Or else you can go in from the top end at Laniel and access more lodges.

  8. That used to be a favourite of mine, sadly the city of Orillia has removed a lot of the parking that allowed direct access to the waters on the south side of highway 12.

  9. Orillia perch festival. People won prizes. They had random daily draws.

  12. I was starting to find it hard to lug my lead acid battery around. I love my argo but it's not quite as efficient as a boat so with the lead acid battery i could only troll for about 4 hours. I decided it was time to invest in one of these. What a huge difference in so many good ways. No worries about off gas when charging. I can pick this thing up with one hand and lift it in and out of the argo easily. I am not sure how long I can troll with it on the Argo but I have run it for over 7 hours at a time including wide open down the lake and back about 1/2 an hour each way with a 55lb thrust trolling motor. No issues at all. Only thing I would do differently is I would spend the extra to get one with the Bluetooth capability. Guess what I'm getting my son for his birthday this spring๐Ÿ˜Š

  13. In my neck of the woods, the annual Big Bass Mega Bucks on Big Rideau Lake is always a lot of fun. Also, Kiwanis Walleye World on Quinte is a good way to kick off the season with lots of festivities. BTW, is there a difference between a tournament and a derby...just askin'

  14. I use the saltwater series in my rebuilds because I fsh salt and brackish water and they are excellent. I dunk em after each trip in fresh water take them apart and clean them after my vacation. It might be overkill but the few people who get to use my equipment have enjoyed how smooth and far it casts. Art

  15. I agree Bill. The higher the ABEC rating, the higher the tolerances...but that doesn't mean they spin any "faster". At the RPM that fishing reels turn at, and the minimal torsional load, it's really not that critical.

  16. I'll second that. The first weekend in May has a big red circle on my calendar. C & R season in Zone 20 is still open for Bass...and Walleye and Pike open up. We concentrate our efforts around Prince Edward County. On another note, last year we did pretty well in south Algoma coming back from a spring Steelhead trip on Superior. The lakes in Algoma that have Smelt populations (usually Trout lakes) grow some pretty big Smallies. I posted about it:
