  2. Oh Yeah the ZOO Board, the bash and belittle board. I found OFC ( O . F . N ) shortly after it came on line. I didn't join right away; but after a couple of months I felt comfortable joining the group here. I still remember being scolded by my daughter when she found out I was going to meet up with a board member for a day of fishing. "you don't know this person, he could hurt you". I went anyway and we're still friends to this day. He doesn't post here very often anymore but when he does he's a great contributor to the site. I only slow "poke" my nose in when I think I have something to contribute to a thread. I visit here once every day or so to see what's up. There's a ton of good people here that I'd drop what I'm doing to help if there was a way I could. Can't remember the member's name but he was from Thunder Bay. His parents were here in London (Mom needed some form of medical help at the hospital). His parents didn't have much money They spent most of what they had on plane tickets, food and accommodations while here in town. The board member (wish I could remember his name) mentioned that his parents were looking for a way to the airport. I told him not to worry and to give me the details of where and when. I picked up dad at the motel, went to the hospital and collected mom. Went for a breakfast and then off to the airport. I went into the airport with them, making sure they were checked in and ready to go. Said my good byes and felt great that I helped a member here at the site. That lead me to where I am now that I'm retired. I volunteer at the men's mission three days a week here in London. I want that same feeling that I helped someone that truly needs it. Dan...

  4. Yeah...like I said it's my wife car. I can't begin to tell you what she's spent on vehicles she's had over the years. She has champagne taste, buys new and keeps nothing longer than 3 years. She's always picked her own vehicles, but she's always worked so I won't deny her that if it's her thing...and believe me after 39 years of marriage it's been well worth it. Unlike some of my buddies, I still have the house and cottage...LOL Me...for now, I'll stick with my Ram with a hemi.

  10. Dan was that Dan C? He always posted pictures of Sleeping Giant Island. Great to hear that you help out others in your retirement, that is a very noble gesture. I remember leaving the Zoo Board for OFC for the same reason. Everyone here was great and it is still a great board thanks to the good people and some nudging from the Mods. I only fish once or twice a year so I don't have much to contribute any longer. My icon was from my first Walleye in the Massasauga back around 2007 where I still camp every summer. I still don't catch many there, very elusive. Thanks for the posts everyone and the trip down memory lane for many! Regards, Warren

  11. I’m going to be on the ice tomorrow, whether it’s briefly or I actually fish time will tell lol. Let’s hope the briefly doesn’t end by surprise. I do gotta laugh…we almost had a perfect set up with a couple of cold nights lined up to tighten things up a bit…nah forget that if that’s going to happen, better get a quick insulating dumping of snow in just as the thermometer hits 0 again…we can’t win this year I tell ya.

  12. As always, most people will get along if they can be sensible. One of my best friends is a big QANON guy. Point being contrary to some, you just can’t take yourself too seriously and you will get along fine with anyone. Society is somewhat the victim of an artificial intelligence system that is running loose on the fact that conflict ensures the most engagement, more engagement means more ad $. I have basically 0 doubt that if everyone on this forum aside from a very select few extra Crusty characters would get along if thrown in a boat and made to fish with one another. heck, join a bass club, you’ll get thrown in a boat with anyone…I’ve yet to have a co angler that I didn’t have something in common with lol. I see a pretty healthy conversation about technology in here, what an absolutely wild world we live in, 15 years ago electric cars were basically a “concept” now you pull up to an intersection and one of the vehicles is going to be electric. some bad news out of ford, apparently they have ceased manufacturing the lightning due to a battery safety concern. Imo par for the course for FORD…I would expect even worse from my own truck maker RAM. funny is the current line of chev ice trucks are having major major injector issues, you’d think they would have that figured out by now lol.

  17. I thought that this what you were referring to...BMW and Toyota together... https://techcrunch.com/2022/08/12/ev-laggards-bmw-and-toyota-to-partner-on-hydrogen-fuel-cell-vehicles/ Lots of opinions on the future of technology....and since the future hasn't happened yet, they're just that opinions and not facts. It will be interesting to see where it all leads... For now the market seems to be betting on EV's. The Toronto Auto Show opens this week with 36 different EV's on display. BTW...please don't view a statement of opinion or fact as something meant to discredit...I value all opinions.

  18. Want to share with you guys something I found at a yard sale. I had no idea they made them this big. I'm used to using the little guys (not sure of the number) about 2 - 2 1/2 in. long for trout, perch, white fish etc. and have had nothing but good success with them. I told the guy having the sale, this for deep sea fishing, he say's yeah, real deep. Any way after our chuckle I got it and an arm full of other goodies for three bucks. I wish he'd had the rod and reel that was used to jig it. Not that I'll ever use it except in my dreams but a cool wall piece.
