  1. Today
  2. I'm sure your wife was a little curious to say the least. Hopefully they were re-located rather than shot which is the normal practice in BC. Last year over 600 bears were shot or killed by other means in that province. It sickens me.
  3. MNR trapped moma and 3 cubs at the highschool up the street from me today. My wife was wondering what was going on as she walked the dog past it all.
  4. As far as I know, only one person can have possession of the fish. Someone will need to claim it, and they'll get the summons/fine.
  5. Yesterday
  6. If 1 person, fishing with 1 or more other people in a boat, catches and keeps an oversize fish, does every person in the boat get fined? Thanks for the replies
  7. Yes but young kids and women are not as prepared men are and I said 2 minutes because a biologist doing studies on fish told me they try not to keep fish out of the water for more then two minutes ,even ones they put transmitters in
  8. Hello everyone, I'm going to a cottage on balsam lake from the 16th-20th, hoping to target some pike, walleye, and crappie. From what I've gathered I would guess that pike and walleye are post-spawn and in shallow water (4-10') sitting in the new emerging weeds, and crappie would be in bays, spawning possibly? Also, it might help to know we have a fish finder that has sidescan and can tell us the depth we're in. I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction regarding how to target any of these 3 species on balsam lake. Thanks again.
  9. Two minutes is pushing it. One should have everything ready in the event that you do catch something worthy of a photo that is going to be released, and released and revived properly.
  10. The Severn doesn't have a huge population of pike, if you're back there all you'll be catching are bass. I find the back bays off the main Severn river are better for crappie than the one way back in the slop. This time of year crappie are all dictated by water temp. Find the right temp, find the fish.
  11. Slippery slope. Possession limit vs out of season fish. This debate could go on forever lol. I think a little bit of common sense needs to be applied to the regs.
  12. Don't be! It was a great shot of a very happy young man. If picture taking is forbidden for an out of season fish then it's also forbidden for in season fish that are illegal to possess due to slot sizes regulations (as noted above). I've seen lot's of Musky (and Walleye, Bass, etc!) pictures here and else where of slot sized (no possession) fish in season, just saying.
  13. I would rather see a two minute rule the fish can only be out of the water for two minutes max. If it gets close to two minutes and you don’t have your hook out you need to cut the hook and release the fish
  14. Ok but this is what I am saying. you can't have it both ways. Either the rule needs changing to allow for pics like this to be legally taken or The rule should not be changed, and this pic should not have been taken in the first place. You can't say "rule needs to remain but this is ok as an exception" because then everyone makes an exception etc. that's all I'm saying. change this dumb rule so you can take a pic of your proud grandchild with his first muskie legally. full stop.
  15. But I have some idea why they are breaking the law lodge owner were get about 10 moose tags every season now most get one tag and that does not make enough money to remain open for the moose hunt so they have a choice, shut down, break the law and stay open or sell the one tag they get to Americans for between 10 and 20 thousand bucks it not right and they should not break the law but I do understand why they are doing it
  16. Given the extent of their actions in falsifying documents...beyond the Fish & Game Act violations, they should've also been criminally charged with Fraud under the Criminal Code. That would have provided for a far more reaching punishment, than basically what is the equivalent of a speeding ticket or similar under the Highway Traffic Act. Although they received fines and suspensions, they get off with no criminal record.
  17. We went out for an ATV ride to some new waters and ended up with some dinner..
  18. 1. Congrats to your grandson, absolutely would snap a pic of my nephews etc. as well. For myself though, certainly not, just ask me about my "PB" laketrout...I just know that it was massive. 2. The rules dont need changing, and it has nothing to do with this particular scenario, and absolutely everything to do with how the average person does their fish photo op...aka land the fish, bring it in the boat, try unhook, grab pliers, struggle to get hooks out, look at fish, weigh it, measure it, search for camera, take photo, realize its blurry, take another photo and then release. For a fish on a bed, or a big musky...thats a wrap. and second of all, tournament guys would 100000% take advantage of this and start hosting catch measure release tournaments out of season. Full stop. Dont change the rules, im not even happy about it happening in zone 20. Its unnecessary and those bass dont need additional tournament pressure beyond what they already experience. If you really need to document your catches, get a go pro, problem solved. Ask Nick Cousivs about his 8lb smallie he caught in zone 20.
  19. Excellent, don't need people like that in raping nature.
  20. These people were literally making a living raping the resource…they should never be in business again
  21. Makes me wonder how many illegal moose they have actually taken down since they were in business
  22. Yeah, a lodge or a guide should be punished far more then an individual
  23. https://www.sootoday.com/local-news/eight-americans-pay-hefty-price-for-illegal-moose-hunting-in-northern-ontario-8732015 unbelievable…2 year guiding suspension??? How about lifetime ban
  24. Was not a very productive morning but sure as heck, was nice to be out floating about. Back up dinner. 😆 🤣
  25. Congrats on your retirement and all the best on your fishing trips. You'd be hard pressed to find a better place to catch big Speckled Trout, and lots of them. In regards to the pic, as long as one is fishing who needs or wants a day off. Stay safe.
