Scrap Lead (metal)

Anyone know where i can find scrap lead? preferably in the GTA.

 

gonna be melting it down to pour some weights.

 

any input would be greatly appreciated.

Just ask your garage for the balancing weights they put on tires. Be careful with the melting., though----make sure you have proper protection for breathing

Local scrap yards usually buy and sell scrap lead. That is my main source for all my pouring.

When I started in the typesetting business we melted lead by the ton, and I means ton, to make fonts.

The smoke was heavy and never thought of it to be deadly

 

Today those fonts are getting very expensive to collectors and designers I have a few in my collection.

 

I Belive they had to clean up the Canada Metal site because of the amount of lead they handled.

precautions will be taken. gloves, mask, upwind, outdoors! haha. i know those fumes can lead to deadly health issues later on.

Steal all of Andrew's downrigger weights and melt them down. He won't mind...

I heard Home Depot sells lead. Never checked it out.

wheel wights are not what they once were you will lose over 50 percent. look for clean lead

Wear an approved respirator for metallic airborne particulate including lead, not a mask.
