EC1 Posted January 27, 2014 Report Share Posted January 27, 2014 I've had 2 experiences where I've came across horse meat, once in Japan when I was 9 and I freaked out about eating a "friendly" animal, and once in a French restaurant in Chinatown. My second experience with it was an absolute amazing one (Horse tartar)! I don't think they are serving that lately, so I'll be looking for my own horse meat in the future. When I lived in the Philippines I ate dog more than once and it was delicious. Many years back on one of my long solo expeditions in the far north I ate a chubby little groundhog. At the time it was maybe the best thing I'd ever eaten in my life. Best beware if you ever survive a plane crash with me high in the Andes. The advice I've gotten is that if you go on 1 of those really adventurous trips you should always take a vegetarian with you. In a real pinch you'd eat them first!!
