BillM Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 You'd probably get a better answer on the Algonquin site to be honest.
BruceCfisher86 Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 Cool, I'll look into it.
Roy Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 You'd probably get a better answer on the Algonquin site to be honest. Yeah there or maybe CCR (Canadian Canoe Routes)
solopaddler Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Well actually I did that loop years ago, wouldn't do it again. Unless your more of an eco tourist type. Fishing isn't all that great.
BruceCfisher86 Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 Right on, I just seen it on the canoe routes map, looked like a kind of cool secluded hike! Thanks.
SirCranksalot Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Yeah there or maybe CCR (Canadian Canoe Routes) I'll second that!

Jds63 Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Never done that loop, fishing would be better I think if you headed down through Ragged and Big Porcupine.
BruceCfisher86 Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 Cool, looks like a sweet route as well!
castgame Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 some of the privately produced maps list the species in each lake. makes it easy to target fish depending on the season you're going in. there's also a nice book, 'fishing in algonquin park' available at the gates. should have info on the lakes good luck

Musky or Specks Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) I'm going to hook you up with a great resource for fishing in the park. You might already have it. This is the kind of stuff we post here because we don't like specifics in the open. http://www.algonquinmap.com/ Doesn't tell you how the fishing is but does let you know what fish are available and is good route planning tool Edited January 26, 2013 by Musky or Specks

Kathlyn Lake according to the AP bio had fish reintroduced to it but now has no fish population ,neither Laker or Brook. Ok, got my answer - "The ROM survey (1990/91) identified brookies and the MNR lake (1958) survey id'ed lakers. She apparently was stocked with artic char a few years after that (of course the artic char are long gone). She may be fished out, small enough for it to happen." What's your source for the lack of fish today?
Garfisher Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Lack of fish as in a lack of Brook Trout?
