Spiel Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 And a little early 80's TO new wave. That's just wrong beyond words, much like Kiss......
DRIFTER_016 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 That's just wrong beyond words, much like Kiss...... And what's wrong with Kiss?
Spiel Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 And what's wrong with Kiss? You mean besides being the biggest musical joke of the century.....
DRIFTER_016 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 You mean besides being the biggest musical joke of the century..... There are plenty of other bands that are way worse than Kiss (insert country band name of chioce here) Besides I think Milli Vanilli holds the largest musical joke of the century crown, no?

I agree for the most part but Kiss applies with all the above and they're were near Disco at it's saddest! Need I say more.
DRIFTER_016 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 I agree for the most part but Kiss applies with all the above and they're were near Disco at it's saddest! Need I say more. Actually they were glam-rock. This would be disco.
Roy Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Glam rock, hahahaha. Where do they find these names? Don't get me started on this.
Roy Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 How about Union Station? Every member of that band holds most records for the best in their field. Check out Jerry Douglas...probably the best dobro player in the world..and, unlike kiss, doesn't need makeup to make you happy. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MuGJaU25ZIA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6wUvTwH2gWI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

As for the country comment, man you dont want to go there. My poor dog and exwife. No worries Brian, I passed the first time I heard them on the radio (Kiss), then at a friends party, pathetic bubble gum music, teenage bop me now if you please, little to no talent. Great marketing but really good music sells itself! Seriously, Lopez. You need a Dr. Look beyond the commercially fed manure you hear on everyday radio and look for what's new and un-commercial, that's where unadulterated talent is! It's there, just look for it! "Mantra".....I will not be a pawn to commercialism!

Not many listened to the rest of his work. Still considered an eclectic style by most.

DRIFTER_016 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Sad news today with the death of 70's punk icon Poly Styrene. Rip Poly. Punk Icon dead at 53 Early punk icon Poly Styrene has died. She was only 53. Poly Styrene, whose real name was Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, had been suffering from breast cancer that spread to her spine and lungs. Of British and Somali heritage, she was born in 1957 in Bromley Kent. The story goes that she ran away from home at 15 with 3 pounds in her pocket and travelled around music festivals. Eventually, inspired by a Sex Pistols show, she founded the band X-Ray Spex when she was 18. The band lasted from 1976-1979, during which time they released one album, 1978's Germ Free Adolescents and a few singles including Oh Bondage, Up Yours! and The Day the World Turned Day-Glo. After X-Ray Specs split, she embarked on a solo career. Her last album Generation Indigo was released just last month. She's often cited as an influence on women in rock music and the Riot Grrrl movement. The Guardian reports that Poly stayed positive to the last, planning to make more music after she was cured. Fittingly, a statement on the singer's official website and Twitter feed said Tuesday that "the beautiful Poly Styrene, who has been a true fighter, won her battle on Monday evening to go to higher places." The Canadian Press reports that Poly once told the BBC in an interview she would like to be remembered for something spiritual, but "I know I'll probably be remembered for 'Oh Bondage, Up Yours!'" Boy George took to Twitter to write, "Boy George was among those paying tribute on Twitter, writing, "Oh bless you Poly you will be missed! Legend!" Poly Styrene is survived by her daughter, Celeste Bell-Dos Santos, who fronts the band Debutant Disco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpHDzHyoHmw&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogypBUCb7DA&feature=player_embedded
