trapshooter Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Finally enough ice for safe snowmachine travel on Lac Seul. The first walleye ice expedition of the year is in the books. Two of us managed limits of smaller fish and even a couple worthy of pulling the camera out. That Lindy Darter produced well. They were popping it good and it definitely took the bigger fish.
Smarty Pantz Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Wow, awesome....Congratz! Definitely beauties Off to bed in hopes of catching some tomorrow
limeyangler Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Great stuff Ben! Good to know you got ice up there now. I think we are gonna venture a bit further out on the sleds on Sunday too...we drilled through 9" of ice today, good ice too. Those are beauty walleye, i think my darters and jiggin raps are gonna get their first workout on sunday too, just need to get to 40' -50' FOW...thats where they were last year. Great report as usual. Happy Holidays Simon.
solopaddler Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Nice fish Ben. Were you running the darters clean?
Roy Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Real beauts and eaters too, Ben. I'll tell you, if I get out your way, you're the guy I'm hiring as a guide for sure. Thanks for sharing and have a great Christmas.
Spiel Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Same thing I told Simon....LOL http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49128 ....
Grimace Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Nice to see people out on the ice. I can not wait for some down here.
trapshooter Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Thanks guys!! Mike - yes, the darters are run clean. It was giving live-bait a run for its money too. The first morning I was getting set up and dropped the darter down to bottom... reeled up a foot and set my rod down to get my flasher set-up. It wasn't 15 seconds later and my rod was getting pulled down the hole. A walleye slammed the darter when it was sitting still.
Leecher Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Beauties Ben Thanks for sharing Leechman
lunkerbasshunter Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 wow those are some beauties! cheers!
trapshooter Posted December 21, 2010 Author Report Posted December 21, 2010 Thanks guys. I still have to get my hands on some of the new larger size of Lindy Darters. They should still be good for walleye but I'm really looking forward to using them for lake trout.
