Fishnwire Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I've got a couple hundred dead D and AA batteries. What should I do with them? I'm fairly certain the shouldn't go in the household trash, so I've just been stockpiling them for a couple of years in bags in my shed.
Nipfisher Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 some schools do competitions to see which one can collect the most weight. Then they receive some kind of award / reward for saving oure landfill sites and environment.
Radnine Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I throw them right over the side of the boat. Jim
Stern Rules Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I throw them right over the side of the boat. Jim I really hope you're not serious.

I can't believe you actually saved them instead of putting them in the trash. Good to see someone's thinking of the environment. Kudos.
Mykester Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 The only batteries I use are for my mouse, xbox controller, tv remote and keyboard. The first 3 are rechargeable, and the keyboard ones last a long time, but when they run out I just put them in my drawer.

About 30-50 cents a pound, I use a lot at work and usually get about $150/month from scrapping them.
jimmer Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I just dropped off at bunch at our local landfill. They collect hazardous waste every Saturday morning.

I'm now interested... What about like power supply batteries and things like that? or is this just AAA, AA batteries you are recycling... Because I know I could collect tons... I'm guessing you'd need 4,000 AA batteries. Weigh a dozen batteries and take it from there.
