Gerritt Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Well I woke up this morning to the sound of rushing water outside my front door..... seems as though a watermain has busted out front of my house!! Argh this stupid city and its infastructure!!! just neeeded to vent a little bit.. I have placed a call with the city and "someone" will be coming out. Just needed to vent... pictures to follow. Gerritt.
ccmtcanada Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) Gerritt.... Wow....you seem to have ALL the luck! With the temps this way, I'm sure you'll be able to organize a little ice road hockey! I drive from the burbs to Toronto every day, and can I tell you how much I love those watermain breaks along Bayview and Yonge? Jeez.... So...when's the ice road hockey game? Looking foward to your pics. Cliff Edited February 8, 2007 by ccmtcanada

Keeping an eye on my basement..... Gerritt.
misfish Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Gerritt quick, get out there put up barriers so no cars can drive through. You will have the biggest street/pond hockey weekend in history. What a mess.
pikehunter Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I hope your house remains dry! We seem to have far too many of these occurances in the Hammer!
Uncle Buck Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Bummer... on the other hand, at least you got to talk to someone... i usually get caught up in the network press 1 for... press 2 for... etc, etc...
aplumma Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 The city looks at the ownership of pipes alittle differently down here. The county/city provides you with a hook up at the edge of your property and the homeowner owns from the meter across the property and thruout the house. This also applies to the sewer lines so if it is broken after the meter its your dime. Good luck with the water issue Gerritt. Art
Eddyk Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Gerrit. I spent 30 years repairing broken water mains with the City of Toronto. If you have any water damage in your basement take lots of pictures. The courts always rule in favor of the home owner.
fishindevil Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 (edited) well gerritt i hope your basement doesnt get flooded ,and now they will have to dig up your front lawn ,and with all that mud and stuff its gonna be a mess ,good luck and hope it goes smooth. ..cheers Edited February 9, 2007 by fishindevil
