  1. I also have been thinking of Chris today. Hopefully he will be up and running by the opener in May.
  2. http://www.tsn.ca/live/wjhc/default.aspx Whhooo Hooo...Scores!!
  3. Now if there was only an option for hydro....
  4. Weatherman, if you could answer the question regarding the primer bulb I may be able to further help. Also, does it run OK when you back off the throttle? The bad coil is a possibility but I still lean towards a fuel issue.
  5. From your description it sounds like a fuel flow issue. Fuel tank, fuel line, fuel pump are suspect if the carb was done. If it takes 15 minutes for this to happen the tank may not be venting. Did you try squeezing the primer bulb when it did this?
  6. Why not just install a new bulb?
  7. I fish for one thing, in one lake, with one rod, with one jig, with one worm. I take enough worms, some spare jigs and a net when I go out. Never take a tackle box, it would just be something to trip over. Most of the time I don't even know where my tackle box is. What I do like is Fireline, Shimano reels and rods, a sonar and GPS. I can understand that for fishermen that fish for multiple species in different lakes will need various types of tackle and equipment.

  9. That one is the 600.
  10. Nice Sled Joey. I think in all fairness, you should get to drive.
  11. They look good Nip. Just a day or two and back at it on Nipissing. Might be out of a boat though.
  12. Good stuff Cliff. Glad to see you guys keeping those fishing skills sharp.
  13. To be honest I don't know what it is. All I know is that it cooks like crazy....Ask Joe! My Mitsubishi jenny is OK for backup use only. Too noisy and hard on fuel to use in a trailer .
  14. We run a 3000 Honda inverter at our hunt camp. Not at all noisy.
  15. 2000 isn't going to cut it. My microwave kicks out the breaker on my Mitsubishi 2500 yet it will run the water pump, go figure Also agree on the Honda generator, tough, durable and fuel efficient. Pretty much anything else pales in comparison. At least anything I have tried.
  16. While I only had the opportunity to meet Jack one time at Lakair he left an indelible impression on me. Decent, honest, friendly and other great qualities were immediately evident. So sorry to hear of his passing, a very sorrowful time for his family and friends. Rest in peace Jack, it was good knowing you.
  17. Could be wrong here but I think what he is trying to set is the coil to the flywheel clearance. It appears in the pictures that the coil bracket was loose by the rust around the bolts and slots. If the clearance is too large it won't charge the coil, too close and it rubs the flywheel. In a case like this just keep moving it outwards until it begins to touch the flywheel and then back it off a little bit. 10 thou should do, need a little room for expansion. Then you can set the points as Cliff has said.
  18. Went out last weekend on Nipissing for a preliminary check. Only went half way across (to my place ) to check conditions and ice thickness. I chickened out at that time going the distance due to slush and questionable ice thickness. Well yesterday I completed the journey and it went very well. Other than small slush patches on the trail and one fairly deep spot just in front of the cottage. I did not get stuck but it did bog me down a little. I bought these tracks 3 weeks ago (used) and so far I am very impressed with them. They are an early version of tracks for ATV's but the price was right. They take a bit more power to operate but not enough to cause a problem. Took a couple of shots around the place. This guy is really stuck  Took a shot like this one a couple of years back, very similar sunset. Some of the operators were moving their day huts out. Even they are difficult to pull as the slush is piling up in front of the shacks and bogging them down. I hope we get some cold to freeze things up a little better but long range isn't calling for anything real frosty.
  19. I had one done about 6 or 7 years ago Cliff. Mine was due to an injury that I had no idea when it happened. Not sure about the latest and greatest, all I can tell you it goes quick and easy. In and out in no time. A little sore for a couple days after but not too bad.
  20. What a great thing this will be. An opportunity to spend some time with a fellow with a great heart, incredible knowledge and a place to enjoy it. Whoever gets the "job" will be a "fortunate son". I can think of 4 guys in particular that I could adopt very easily. HA!
  21. Merry Christmas to all. Off to moms in a few minutes to enjoy the day with all my family. Heading out on Nip tomorrow to check things out.
  22. Yes, Cliff has hit the nail on the head. When you add in diagnosis time, parts and labor it can often be more than buying a new one. Some folks find this hard to understand. My Dad tells a story of Fred Johnson who owned a marina in Pefferlaw. A fellow brought in a lawn mower for repair and wanted an estimate. Fred picked it up and threw it off the bridge into the river, quoted him a price for a new one.
  23. I'll second Big Cliff's reply. Automotive pays better, but you have to get good at it.
  24. As far as longevity it's pretty hard to beat an I/O although outboard technology has come a long way in the past few years. And I suspect it will continue to do so in the near future as well. I/O's used to be better for fuel economy but it's now the reverse. I like outboards, lighter, stronger, faster and takes up less space in the boat. Also if you don't like it, you can upgrade easier. I think for a boat such as the one you are interested in, an I/O would be your best option. Merc outdrives are very well made and parts availability is easy. Pay attention to the bellows as Art has suggested. I don't know if parts are hard to get for Fichts, haven't needed to get any. Actually parts availability hasn't been an issue for us at our shop and they are as reliable as any other make.
  25. Great choice. Art is talented and fair. He will be a very good Moderator.
