  1. You could be a lucky guy. Maybe the best walleye fishing going is about 30 miles to the northeast of Melfort in Tobin Lake. Check out this link... http://www.walleyeheaven.com/world-record-walleye-ice-fishing.htm Huge walleye and pike are found very close to where you will be. Good Luck
  2. That's the best! My daughter still talks about her first panfish trips years ago. They will always remember that day fondly. Cheers!
  3. Morels are completely different than puffballs. They almost taste like beef tenderloin. Very delicious but very specific season, usually first couple week or so of May.
  4. Brookies and fiddleheads, nice. Down this way, this time of year, i would add black morels to the mix. Sometimes walleyes instead of brookies. Thoroughly cleaned and then cooked in fresh butter with cracked pepper and lemon. Yum Yum!
  5. Fishing works wonders on the psyche of youth. Tell your friend to 'think about the box'. Mainly the tackle box.
  6. Thought the mirror carp was a catfish at first due to lack of scales. Keep on fishin BBR.
  7. Walking out into your yard in T.O and seeing a deer is cool. Have seen coyotes around Humber Bay parks, n clear view of CN tower and Gardiner expressway at same time. Catching carp on fly rod must be a tussle.
  8. The Grand R. around Dunnville is probably closest and your best choice. Good Luck
  9. Whatever happens will surely go your way. Real nice vehicle. Keep on truckin'

    Brookie Fun

Incredible underwater photos! 25 yrs. ago i remember catching little brookies in a ditch on the side of hwy. 115. Turned out they fed into Cavan River a trib of the Otanabee R. Go figure?
  11. Just thinking that for FMZ 17 walleye have to be between 35-50 cm (13.8-19.7 in.)to be kept except Balsam.
  12. Sounds like a tough situation for the kids. A fishing forum isn't going to be able sort out the legal issues however.
  13. Good report! Obviously you were on Balsam judging by the size of those "keepers".
  14. This should be locked soon.... Hard to tell if you are a troll or just living under a rock. Licences have been mandatory in Ontario for a quarter century. Yes, Ottawa is in Ontario. Lockdown coming....
  15. 4 and half hours until walleye opens in the Kawarthas. With a conservation license one smallish "wet sock" can be kept
  16. Anytime out on the water is a good time
  17. I think the reason there is not much "push baits" available in the GTA is the lack of decent catfish species around here. Plenty of bullheads around here caught a bunch when i was around 5 yrs. old from Lake Ontario marshes or trib estuaries. There are some channel cats but not many. Lake Erie or GBay estuaries have more channel cats. Good fishing
  18. Just noticed this thread almost has twice the page views of the music video thread.
  19. So walleye will open in FMZ 17(Kawarthas) at midnght tonight. I would check the regs before going. There were new limits that started last year. Walleye have to be between 35-50 cm(13.8-19.7in.)to be kept. With a conservation license only one can be kept, 4 can be kept with sport license. That really lessens the amount of fish kept. Balsam has different regs where fish between 37-55 cm. can't be kept. Only one can be kept with conservation license, 3 can be kept with sport. Rather confusing but should be followed as CO's are checking. In years past i would have a run on Pigeon Lake that was decent. Walleye opener always seemed rainy and cool like it is this weekend. Always was a good time anyways.
  20. Can't really help with the computer issues but undoubtedly you have a huge sturgeon on. Fished Rainy River when i was a kid and was scared of catching a sturgeon by accident.
  21. Seems to happen every year to me, most of the time the Musky takes the microtube, always end up breaking the 4lb mono. Wish they would be there a month or so later. Great story!
  22. Hahaha...that is perfect.lol Another one- Elvis meets Led Zeppelin... by Slash types.
  23. Have to get a Toronto Harbour permit all the biggest pike are there. Hope to see a report from you sometime Fidel, the last one was stellar!
  24. Wow, another great report! I always wondered about those spinners. Now i am sure they work fine and where to use them. Much valuable fishing info can be gleaned from your photos. Great stuff, thanks for sharing it!
  25. My favourite type of fishing That last fat brookie and the underwater pictures are impressive. Thanks for posting!
