  1. The majority of these rioters were young middle class males with some punks thrown in. People said they were trapped by police and pushed into the riotous crowd by them. Sort of G20 type police tactics caught a lot of people and pushed them into crowd. Saw a couple on television mentioning how they were pushed and beaten by police when they were trying to leave area in fear. A video showed them being roughed up by police but the picture of after when the male tried to comfort scared and still on ground gf became famous. Lots of misunderstanding going on. No doubt male youth were taking advantage of the situation.
  2. That stretch south to Big Island gets rough on westerly winds. My favourite fishing in Ontario all around there though.
  3. Bill, dirty hippies is something my grandfather would say. Hippies are into peace man. Hooligans is the best way to describe them. Drunken males in their 20's rampaging like in Europe after a soccer match.
  4. At this time of year carp and bullheads are easily caught there. Simple worm a few feet under a float could produce perch, drum and smallmouth bass. Throwing a #3 spinner might catch a pike. Come September salmon start showing up there and larger crowds of people. Good Luck
  5. Just noticed in this video shot about 1983, the gas price at a Petro Canada was 27.3 cents a litre. Around 0:34 it is on right side of screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDojwQ8cJC4
  6. If i get out around these Gordon Rocks or a bit south or east of there. Lots of big smallies.
  7. Those perch are huge! Nice little excursion.
  8. I remember the Cecropia moth as i found its huge caterpillar as an 8 yr. old in the 'Shwa.
  9. Without a doubt a Heddon/Excalibur "Spittin Image" topwater has caught me the most and biggest smallmouth. Have caught a few over 6lbs in Kawarthas on this. The lure in the middle is Pop n' Image which i don't even use. Will throw these all day and they work anytime. The fish below was caught at 3 in afternoon a couple of summers ago. If it is way too rough i will throw a double willowleaf spinnerbait or just troll muskies.
  10. Very nice, is this from Ottawa area? If so, good to see Bald Eagles making a comeback.
  11. Have seen these beauties sometimes. Thought it was cardinal from distance.
  12. Looks like it is possibly a Cercopia Moth. A rare find of a huge moth.
  13. Went to Bass Pro and they didn't have Strike King "Bottom Dweller" spinnerbaits of course. One of the employees asked what i was looking for tried to tell me they don't exist.
  14. My favourite last night was Ontario's Sam Stouts incredible knockout.
  15. Yup, saw on news yesterday that the wind damage in the area is from a microburst not tornadoes after Enviroment Canada sent teams to survey damage. Still sounds like lots of trees down right through the Kawarthas etc...
  16. Finally evidence that a call to MNR TIPS line is followed up. Have heard too often of people calling and there being no response. Think that the offenders have to be quite blatant for anything to be done.
  17. Seems like the place to go if you want to catch a lot of big pike in Ontario. Seeing that one fella went there before major surgery makes a somewhat disabled guy think that this is possible in future. Incredible report as usual.
  18. Lots of storms hit the GTA in last 5 days but mostly at night. There were storms yesterday about 7:30 PM that were most wicked. Took a couple of pictures of crazy clouds...
  19. Again Wayne your daughter is a real trooper. Going through all this is brutal. Seems like you are spending a lot of time in my hood. Live around College and Grace and boot over to the Dupont/Dufferin McDonalds for their $1.39 muffin/coffee deal. Actually like their coffee now more than the overrated Timmies stuff. Best wishes to your daughters health! Whatever way she goes it should be fun to participate in the fundraiser walk. Cheers, Erik
  20. Just bought a new Abu Garcia baitcaster to replace a retired 13 yr. old Quantum Iron baitcaster. The Fireline from the old reel i put on the new reel. So the stuff from the bottom is now on top, this Fireline despite being 13 yrs. old is looking brand new . No need for the Suffix. Good to hear the fish were chasing the Sebile Magic swimmer, thinking of buying a Storm Kickin' minnow which is sort of similar swimbait. Gives me a bit of confidence in rubber swimbaits for musky before even using or buying.
  21. Nice bunch of fishes there. Especially cool to see the lakers. Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake not touching Ontario maybe that is why the fishing looks good. I imagine that stuff is being caught not far from Chicago.
  22. HaHa, that grasshopper met its maker, Lot of great bird pictures you are posting. That looks like an immature indigo bunting. Have only seen fully mature 'blue' indigo buntings a few times. Maybe a female bluebird?
  23. Garden fresh produce is the best. All the hard work will be worth it as you harvest here and there. Wait till late summer, fresh fish and garden produce will rock your world. Funny thing last year a cantaloupe seed must had been in my compost soil. When picking tomatoes and such i found one. It tasted great! entirely a surprise. Nice going Jacques
  24. Nice muskies there! You could catch a huge one there. Even the big ones will hit a bucktail or musky spinnerbait. Thanks for pictures.
