  1. I had a place in the Kawarthas and fished a spot for walleye that always produced. When it was a light east wind for days on end the fish did get lockjaw. Only some rock bass would bite. In the fall the wind quite often would be strong NE and the muskies would still be active. Trolling for muskies or pike would probably be good still. If you don't go; you defintely wont't catch.
  2. I like this picture of the Rainy River! It reminds me of when i was a boy going now and then for a couple of weeks to Stratton area. I had an aunt and uncle retired from the city and moved to place right on the river. Whenever i fished off their dock i was a scared little boy thinking i would catch a Sturgeon and lose my fishing rod. Great fish again and your boy is so lucky to be there.
  3. Heard a commercial for Lionel Ritchie and Mike Macdonald at Rexall Center in North York soon. Reminded me of this video of Mike Macdonald of Doobie Brothers in studio from early eighties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDojwQ8cJC4 What a fool believes....
  4. Great report there trapshooter! You northwest Ontario folks have plenty of incredible opportunities. Thanks for post.
  5. Good thing the reality of having back surgery a week or so ago kept me off water today. Looks like it is going to storm all morning/afternoon. Any musky opener reports from today are going to be rain soaked.
  6. Hi Lew, will be one of the tinners with red sides up there. If i see you will wave or say hi. If i catch anything decent will put a little report on board here as well. Good fishing
  7. Yup, will be around Big Island on Pigeon Lake like last couple decades for this musky opener. Two more sleeps to go...
  8. If you go, might as well take Center Island ferry. Try fishing corners were channels meet or places where trees are overhanging providing cover. Lots of water and shoreline so be prepared for lots of walking. #4 size spinners or x-rap/husky jerks should be effective. Good luck.
  9. Ya wow another great report! The video and your commentary are perfect as always. Seemed like non-stop catching which is fun as heck. No use over editing so musky freaks don't get their knickers in a knot. You are lucky to have such fabled waters at your doorstep.
  10. Very nice additional incredible pictures added here. Recently read that Ontario is behind all other states and provinces in bald eagle habitat availability/restoration. Good to see the bald eagle up that way.

Wow amazing series of photos! Not a common bird, you are lucky to see it. Like shots in flight, nicely done.
  12. Really looking forward to musky opener on Kawarthas. Bucktails and musky spinnerbaits should work, this year i am going to try a musky size swimbait for first time. These 'swimbaits' are supposedly good but obviously learning curve is involved. Gonna need patience...
  13. Very nice pickerel/walleye. You would think Temagami would have big ones this confirms it. That fish is super clean and healthy looking. Congrats to your buddy! My PB 16 lber came from Simcoe by the Talbot River through the ice last week of March. Good thing they closed the season two weeks earlier now getting a walleye on Simcoe is like needle in haystack.
  14. There you go newboykool seems like you have to wait until the summer for pike to hit topwaters. Personally fish Kawarthas where there was no pike once musky season opens which explains my lack of success.
  15. Hope things work out well Wayne, surely she is getting the best treatment available, despite little oversight here and there. Like said before your daughter is lucky to have great parents by her side all the way.
  16. That is what i am trying to say as well. In the 8 yrs. or so of looking at reports on this site i haven't seen a 'topwater pike' post. People usually succeed using spinners, x-raps, husky jerks, even jigs and minnows. In 30 yrs. of fishing never caught a pike on topwater. Many pike were caught using inline spinners or suspending bodybaits though. Looking forward to a post of someone catching pike on topwater, never seen it yet.
  17. This is peak time of year for shore fishing must be attached to the big lake there. Nice carp and those perch are big. You might catch other surprising species over next month. Sometimes the meds help make things happen.
  18. Never had great success for pike on topwaters. Through out an inline spinner or rattle bait just below surface and they get hooked. Pike just aren't into topwaters like bass are, it seems.
  19. Nice lakers there Jacques, you must be pumped for this summer/fall. Lots more fish to catch.
  20. That is the first place i went and caught a variety of panfish in the Kawarthas, i was the same age as your children. My father keeps talking about going back with me and my family for a day. Your report mirrors our experience nearly 40 years later. I became hooked on fishing permanently after my families stay. Those memories will last forever for your kids. Nice report!
  21. That is a British website that wasn't shutdown like the American live streaming UFC sites. It is worth bookmarking this link, for UFC enthusiasts, since it always has worked well since.
  22. Hey thanks for reminder of this UFC 130. Almost forgot Try this link... http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/66739/1/watch-ufc-130:-rampage-vs-hamill--.html
  23. Gonna try the musky opener next weekend. Casting bucktails and trolling spinnerbaits hopefully will work.
  24. Great report Aaron, that is a huge pike for southern Ontario. Thanks for post!
  25. Another top notch report, having the greatest brook trout water relatively near must be such a treat. You know how to take advantage of that. Awesome report!
