  1. Other than being a hot humid day nothing exciting happened here at the extreme west end of Lake O. We did have some early evening flash lightning, almost no thunder to speak of along with some gusty winds but barely a drop of rain fell over night.
  2. Thanks Barry. LOL....yes John, "new tires." In my efforts to replace the one that blew up on my band saw I discovered that that is indeed what they are called. Go figure. And thank ya Sir, it's not my favourite medium to work with but I do like the finished results, indeed though it's not to everyone's taste.
  3. Well I finally got new tires and a blade on my band saw allowing to get to work on an Antler seat for a friend, he loves his Antler seats. I honestly didn't think I could get a full ergonomic contour seat from this piece due to the curve and lack of mass across the profile as seen in the pictures. But after repositioning it a few times as I made progress into getting it round I was successful in getting it done. I'm now waiting from my friend to see which side he prefers to have mortised for the reel. Now it's time to sit on the porch and relax with a cold one while the stink in the shop dissipates.
  4. Don't be! It was a great shot of a very happy young man. If picture taking is forbidden for an out of season fish then it's also forbidden for in season fish that are illegal to possess due to slot sizes regulations (as noted above). I've seen lot's of Musky (and Walleye, Bass, etc!) pictures here and else where of slot sized (no possession) fish in season, just saying.
  5. A couple of songs from the very early "Fall" days with the very young and lovely Brix Smith.
  6. Some awesome retro tunes in the shop today with "The Fall." Crank it up!
  7. Thanks Pal, I appreciate it but that's the the wrong line rating and thus the ferrules would not fit.
  8. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have an old Loomis FR1089 GL3 (mahogany colour fly rod) sitting around. More specifically an unbroken tip section? PM me if you you do please and thank you.
  9. I'm a big fan of long soft rigger sticks. While I have several options for the big lakes my go to is my over 40 year old 12' spiral wrapped Fenglass and my Shimano Triton 100 loaded with 12lb mono set up.
  10. Garry used to pop in here on his way to or back from his wintering in Arizona. But the last time was definitely pre Covid. I hope he was well Bruce?
  11. Mmmm, I'd be all over that!
  12. Been a while since I posted here and while I cook/eat every day I don't always take pictures. But I was bragging to my daughter about making Pizza and a Big Ass Calzone from scratch so I took some pictures. And here they are, topping/filling are the same for both. ~ Mild Italian Sausage, Yellow Bell Pepper, Onion, Black Olives and plenty of freshly grated Mozz.
  13. Sundays are fun days in the kitchen. Today I'm cooking Mongolian Beef and Broccoli with "The Fall"
  14. Just to bring it back to Kipawa, this picture was taken within sight of Fox Lodge while wearing my old Owen Sound Sun Times Georgian Triangle Derby ball cap. 😁
  15. Knowing I'm going off topic, apologies given. I first met Lorne in the summer of 1976 (15 years old) and yes, the basement, the Boston Whaler, all good memories and he still lives in the same house. It's been a few years since I stopped by and said "Hello." Oh ya, he was and still is..... lol So many good laughs in his pick up camper, Meaford usually ..... as I somewhat recall. πŸ˜†
  16. Today's shop tunes brought to you by ....."The Smashing Pumpkins."
  17. Well the distance into camp smitty55 is about the same I believe from either end but the reason for going in from Laniel access was that the owner of Camp Mackenzie at the time, Jack Newman operated out of Laniel. I believed he and his wife also ran the Post Office there, the parking lot and the boat ramp connected to the parking lot.
  18. I have so many fond memories of fishing Kipawa back to the early 80's until the mid 90's. I fished out of Camp MacKenzie, sort of lake central just west of Corbeau Island. Some 14 miles in by boat from Laniel. I have fished Temagami in the last few years and it is indeed a beautiful lake but it somehow does not hold charm that Kipawa does for me. I was a much younger man then......
  19. Happy New Year everyone. May 2024 be a great year for all the good folks here. ☺️
  20. Reminiscing about the many road trip tunes to G Bay and Huron tribs more than a few decades ago listening to Echo and the Bunnymen. Giddy up!
  21. I feel so left out, was it something I said. πŸ˜†
  22. The entire Sheperds Bush Concert....
  23. Sadly it has come to my attention from my friend who introduced me to the band Killing Joke over 4 decades ago that the guitarist Kevin "Geordie" Walker passed away yesterday morning at 64 years of age from a stroke. I was fortunate to have seen him in concert a few time in the last decade, always amazing. RIP Geordie.
  24. I am truly sorry for your loss Barry, like many of the good folk here the loss of dog, no a family member hurts deeply. πŸ₯Ί
